All of Maurio's tricks look so good, definitely one of my favorite skaters. Not to mention his board graphic is sick.

Honestly, one of your biggest problems is not jumping high enough. Your flick seems good, but you don’t have enough time to try catch and recover it.

Most times your not really trying to actually land on the board - which is THE most important thing on any new trick! Its stressfull, frightening and dangerous too tho😂
@theanti-come Жыл бұрын
Me personally, frontside flips only work if I have my front foot closer to the middle of the board with the toe pointed. My theory is that it gives me more leverage to pop the board higher in order to complete the flip and rotation. I also like to imagine that I'm throwing my lead shoulder straight back towards the tail. Which, in theory, allows me to complete the full rotation. In the end, everyone does their tricks different, I just do all mine weird.

It seems counterintuitive to approach the trick all tensed up like that. I suck at skating tho so maybe I’m on the wrong track but it seems you’d get more explosive pop and flick and everything in tricks if you approach it relaxed and when it’s time to go then you trigger all the muscles for a split second of power rather than staying coiled up for so long. Congrats on smackin those fsf’s down man. They looked super banger.

So me and you skate pretty similarly and although I’ve always been able to kickflip and front 180, I’ve always struggled to make a fs flip work, by watching your videos and knowing myself and what it looks like, I think I’ve finally figured out what the problem is, I’ve put in a lot of time trying to figure this trick out , have gone to the park hours and hours try after try

There are two ways to frontside flip, late like Mario, and hard flip style if you struggle with the late flip style you could try the other, again pressure flips will help you understand the board rotation but it's your front foot causing the rotation not the pocket then its just rotating your body and landing switch.
@SkateAndExplore817 Жыл бұрын

Turn your neck, shoulders and legs at the beginning of the pop, while flicking to the side instead of towards the nose. Front foot should be a little further back and a bit more pointed than a kickflip.
@graemecoyne2611 Жыл бұрын
My very humble and tactful... subjective insight: don't "think P-Rod" ; think yourself. As in... . everyone has varying mechanics and approaches to movements: THe dynamics will never be definitive in their entirety. Overthinking becomes counterintuitive. I'm certainly not trying to dilute the difficulty nor skillset required to execute said tricks - but in essence... just pop and flick! you have your own unique style that will work and function for you! Yes... draw inspiration from other Pro's and such ... but at the end of the proverbial day... just do what feels best and most comfortoble for you! Just do you playa... and it will come... probably sooner than you may anticipate. Pop, flick... and roll yo!

Joe, one of the main issues is that you are super stiff on your board and I think it really keeps you from bending your hips enough in the air to get some more time in the air. Look how easily and far down Maurio is bending down on all of his attempts and how high he gets up in the air. Maybe you should try some stretching or yoga to increase your flexibility, it helped men in any sport not just skateboarding. Thank you so much for the videos, Joe and Maurio, and keep up the great work! Just subscribed!

i think you're having the same issue i am. We're just not jumping (or popping) high enough. I mean it's possible to do it where you're doing it, but waaaay harder (it seems). I'm trying to force myself to pop the shit out of it. Trying to get my kickflips higher first. Do some leg workouts or something lol. My vertical jump sucks right now and that's part of it. I can ollie about the height the other dude is doing FS flips. I need to get my kickflips up there.

Hey, man. I've got a question about bushings. I'm a similar build to you but a bit bigger. Not sure of your height but I'm 6'1" 230lbs. I prefer skating my trucks as tight as I can get them. What research I've done always points toward harder bushings. I feel like it doesn't matter how tight or loose I have them, they feel loose and I get mad wheelbite. Can you recommend any brand that's tried and true by you? I'm at a complete loss and any insight helps.

To anyone struggling with "flicking later," slow your pop down. You'd be surprised how much your back foot dictates what your front foot does. A proper pop does not need to be aggressive and fast. Just slow it down to a cartoonish level and see what happens.

hey man, when he landed his frontside flip it seemed effortless also in the sense that he seemed less tense. i noticed both of you were mic'd up but when you pop you're tensing up your core and it's keeping your motions from being fluid i think. i kept hearing you go "HUHN *pop* uhhhh" so if you see this try being mindful of how much tension you're holding in your mid section, maybe you can prevent this bad habit from progressing
