I live in northern Michigan and find a fair amount of bedding activity around beaver dams. Especially beaver dams in ponds that are drying up. 🦌
@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
You're very right about beaver dam habitat.One of my best spots were along a narrow cedar swamp that hugged a beaver pond.You have to check them every year.

Hunted northern wi for many years. Can’t believe the sign you’re seeing. My area seems pretty void of deer with the wolf population the way it is.
@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
You're exactly right John.Many areas across the northern half of Wisconsin are getting hit pretty hard.Personally I have never changed my scouting habits or even altered them according to the effects of winters,or predators.It is very sad in regards to all the negativity towards the deer population up here.But on the flip side,guys like us are having a ball. You will see more sign in the next video,out in a leather leaf bog. Hey,take care,and thanks for the comment.

John...the same thing in the UP of Michigan...The Wolves are killing most of the deer here.

When im scouting after season and find an area with alot of sign, i start looking for stands and illegal baiting. More times than not, thats the reason for all the activity. I try to find where theyre coming from to get to that site.
@Buckman-1018 ай бұрын
Hi Jeff.I would imagine in populated areas you would have to check for baiting . I like this area,mainly because he comes up from the swamp and runs this ridge.Im going back there pretty soon to locate a spot for hunting it.

would you target these areas to find sheds? i’m in northeastern oneida co wisconsin, new to the area and having a hard time locating wintering bucks
@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment.If you had snow to locate where the deer may be feeding may help you a lot.Many deer will move to a different area instinctively every winter,and typically you may find sheds in those areas.I have several areas that the deer do not migrate back until spring begins to kick in.l had an edge of a cedar swamp that was good for sheds.Especially during winters of large snow depths.It kept them congregated.
@karostaro477910 ай бұрын
@@Buckman-101 not much of a snowpack this spring.. makes the swamps a lot easier to walk but makes locating deer slot more difficult. so far only shed and deadhead i found were in wooded areas closer to town but i think the bigger bucks are hiding in the swamps and bogs

How much ammonia and wate?
@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
I usually make up a half of a milk jug,so it is used up within reason. I simply use a cup of ammonia,and and several squirts of doe urine.Feel free to add anything else,if you wish.Then I fill the rest with water. I am always experimenting with the big bucks.I love getting in their heads. Thank you for commenting.
