Great commentary! I deer hunted in Douglas County in northern Wisconsin for decades before my back and knees gave out and had to reluctantly quit. But I do have a lot of fond memories of being in the Northwoods and appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experiences on your channel. I do have a nice big 12 pointer on my wall that dressed at 300 pounds and my partner got a massive buck that dressed at over 350 pounds. Big deer up here but one has to know where they are, their patterns of travel, time of day and all sorts of other useful information to even have a chance of seeing one. As my mobility declined, I was content just to sit still and observe the habits and behaviors of all the forest animals around me and marvel as to how they managed to survive in that tough winter climate. Being out in the big Northwoods far from civilization was a unique experience that I still cherish years after I finally put my rifle away for good. Take care and be well. Cheers.

It's nice that it's not real thick, easy quiet walking, not getting turned around. Looks like great still hunting. What a February day to take a walk in the woods, lucky you.

There are 3 big bulls and 2 cow calf pairs...one of these calves is a bull calf. As always, I pester that area...WE Dumped 2 of the 3 big bulls....and passed on the 3rd.... My hope was that my buddies started to believe me

@@Buckman-101 thx boss. Its good habitat here but real steep and thick timber. Ol mossy bucks can get old here Love the looks of your country. The wife and I vacationed one fall in Wisconsin and the UP, touring the entire state. Loved Northern WI. Hope to hunt there one day

Thank you for the comment.First of all,the only picture I ever had of a buck was when I was 12 years old,and shot a 10 pointer.190 lbs.I have antlers in our house alongside my caribou I shot with my longbow.I just gave a whole box of antlers to my brother in law whole builds lamps etc.I was never into photographs with a dead animal.Call me weird.I can take a picture of antlers in the house and send it to your e- mail address,but generally speaking,you won't see me speaking anywhere but outside.

Good question Alex. Depending on where I put my mock scrapes will sometimes develop into a breeding scrape,which means you hit the lottery.If I find an active scrape in the fall,I don't play any games.I simply leave it alone until I get the right conditions to hunt them.I leave my mock scrapes and cameras out through Thanksgiving.I enjoy seeing what developed through gun season.2 years ago I had a picture of a shooter buck on one of my mocks on opening gun season at 11:00 in the morning.Not hunters around anywhere. Thanks for the comment Alex.

Are you still bow hunting with your longbow and harvesting your quarry. I've been traditional bow hunting my hole life and still loving and living the dream. No better excitement than putting a perfect arrow into the goodie box on an old woodlands salter. 🏹
@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment.It was wonderfull to take my homemade arrows and my longbow on different hunts in my life,but due to using it to shoot in competition,i finally blew out my shoulder.Had to brush my teeth holding my arm with my other hand.I then used my old 45 lb.recurve.Then a compound and now for the past 6 years a recurve crossbow.I still take them in the yard and shoot.

I was just wondering,do they still make tapered barrel cedar shafts?I took those on a moose hunt.They had great kinetic energy,and reached paradox quite fast.
@outdoorsman938410 ай бұрын
Daryl you would just have too contact a good Arrowsmith, they would be available for you. A good place too start would be kustom King or Three Rivers Archery, they have usually all our needs for are traditional, you could also buy raw wood shafts and taper them yourself if you want too get creative. Have a great one, I'm enjoying your show🤝

Morning Stan.Thanks for the comment. I always like to hang a natural stick ,that offers some beef behind it.Usually about chest high,because I like to get pictures of young smelling it also.I carry a bunch of para cord with.Wrap it several times around the limb.Remember,the deer aren't that fussy.

How do you tie up your licking branches? Without them falling down? Or coming untied? Or having them get torn down?
@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
Hi Mike.Thanks for the comment. I use thin nylon cord.Paraschute cord .A couple slip knots,and you're good to go.Last year I had to use back pack straps because I ran out of cord,and didn't want to come back.The deer aren't fussy.

@Buckman-10110 ай бұрын
Some of my licking branches actually become breeding scrapes,meaning they will stay on them through breeding.
