that random dice being thrown is for the German destination roll

Aha! Thanks. So they have a pre-determined movement roll? Now that you mention it, I remember some sort of mention of something like that when I skimmed through the scenario description for the Germans. Much appreciated, I'll take a look!

Yay - congrats. Moving through bocage is a hefty price - can't remember the cost, but it's why most units can only move one hex when adjacent.

Thanks! Understanding the night rules helped a ton. :) Yes, it's a +4 Movement Point cost to cross the bocage hexside, I believe. Slow going. :)

Another fun play through. The DLCs like Falklands and Vietnam can be very challenging. In the same vein, another good modern tactical game on PC with an overhead view is: Door Kickers 2 Regards

Thanks. So far I'm impressed with the creativity behind the scenarios, but I've just dipped my toes in the system at this point. Looking forward to exploring more, and that's good to know about those two DLCs. :) And I've added Door Kickers 2 to the list, thanks!

I took a leader across the bottom and then up the right edge. Sprinted and only really had to deal with friendly fire. The rest I sent up the middle to pull fire.

Nice work Zilla!! Although a random friendly unit firing on you, could presumably have gone very badly!

Thanks! Yes, we got a bit lucky there at the end, but it's amazing how much better this one went than the one before it. Fun times. If you get this, let me know and I can help you if you get stuck. :)

LOL--never expected a plot twist like at the objective hex! HE lost his Eureka unit and YOU lost your clicker--a match made in heaven! If you could, start it up AGAIN, and try to very carefully read about the Eureka unit. I'd like to know if that detail about needing a half-squad was in there and you missed it, OR if it was just going to be a surprise if you had split up and/or lost your half-squad. Sure HOPE the detail is there and you just missed it because pulling a surprise like that otherwise would NOT be good.

Yes, the events are a fun twist to these scenarios and give them a lot of personality. I know it's a feature of the board game too. So far it feels like a very creative way to build in uniqueness to the scenarios. I like them a lot. Well, I'm not sure I would have liked it if that Friendly Fire cost us to lose the scenario, but stuff happens. :) I'll check the description about the half squads. I bet it mentions it and I missed it. EDIT: The scenario victory conditions mention needing a "Good Order Pathfinder unit". I had assumed that meant either a full squad or a half squad, so yeah, the distinction could probably be clearer in the description. No worries.

@@ZillaBlitz Ah OK. I know in ASL a leader could split a squad into 2 half-squads (or recombine them) so if this game allows that, then you'd always be OK if the leader had some troops with him.

Aha! -> *smart thinking*! ... I wonder if that would work here, or if the units were somehow designated differently. I haven't checked yet how to split squads, but I think I recall reading it in the tabletop rules, which are the same.

That was indeed much easier! Wouldn't even have needed that movement on the first turn, either 🤣

Yes, it was like night and day. After all my wondering about how to win, it turns out I just needed to understand night rules a bit better. :)

Ha! Yes, I think that would be a fair assessment of this. Knowing the night rules helped a ton. :)
