The Kyrie-Thomas trade is so weird because on paper the cavs lost it, easily. But when you look at what actually happened the cavs went further next season, acquired better role players by trading the ones they got from the Celtics, and drafted Sexton with the pick, who was the centerpiece of the Donovan Mitchell trade. If Mitchell stay in Cleveland the cavs played their cards very well.

God, that Luka trade is so crazy in retrospect. I honestly chalk it up to Luka being European though. But with them dominating the league more, that sentiment has changed. Even though Euro’s were being drafted with top picks 15-20 years ago, it’s just different now.

With the Kyrie-IT trade, I don't think that was a bad trade for either side. IT was injured and would barely be able to play the next year, so Boston lucked out on that. Kyrie was refusing to come to practice for the Cavs, so Cleveland lucked out. Both teams ended up winning by unloading a player that would have been a net zero for them next season. The biggest loss to Boston was that Brooklyn pick, but honestly if we had drafted with that pick we probably would not have had the cap space to land KP and Jrue this past offseason, so ultimately it sort of worked out. No one could have foreseen the Kyrie weirdness that followed, nor predicted that there would be such a bad personality clash between the younger guys and Kyrie/Gordon.

Not to mention the Gordon Hayward leg injury his first game.
@BOnYTB4 ай бұрын
It was a totally fine trade for BOS, but not for CLE. IT was injured, they did a physical and saw how injured he was. They ended up getting another second or two if you remember, held up the trade for a bit. Like sure the pick had high upside, but it’s one pick…and a team that doesn’t have its own pick isn’t going to be tanking. The lotto odds were also more flat. Crowder was a very legit role player and you always need 3&D guys around LBJ, but that’s all they rly got. An injured IT, the one pick, Crowder, Zizic who wasn’t some exciting prospect. That BKN picked ended up with the 8th best odds. CLE kinda just didn’t pick one direction and go with it. Either all in on that team, or rebuild. Could’ve ended up with PG13, (who they could’ve later flipped) or just went straight for young guys and picks. I like Sexton, and he was a part of the Mitchell trade…but I don’t think it’s like they couldn’t have gotten Mitchell without Sexton. He was more of decent salary filler. The assets were the picks and swaps, Lauri, that year’s 1st, etc. Not trying to hate lol. You even said CLE kinda lucked out, and I like this CLE team. Just didn’t like the trade at the time or now, but I’ve never been a big fan of David Griffin tbh.

Actually it was just a measely 10M. Harden was willing to sign way less than what the rockets wanted to offer him to stay with OKC but the front office fumbled this by lowballing harden. Harden wanted 55M while the OKC insisted on 45M and that was the deal breaker.
@ZachSmith-go9uk8 ай бұрын
James Harden in my humble opinion was the better player at OKC than at Houston. In Houston his flaws were shone everywhere. The Rockets tried Dwight Howard, CP3, Russell Westbrook, and John Wall but resulted in no championships and couldn’t get passed GSW, the system was Al around Harden but he eventually left them for Brooklyn to join Kyrie and KD, till right now he’s not same player as he was in Houston. Even though he did win only 1 Kia MVP unanimously, but he choked in the playoffs and was not there when his team needed him the most. at OKC he was the 6th Man of the Year, went to a championship even though they eventually lost to the LeBron, DWade, and CBosh led Miami Heat. because of KD and Russ, his play was hidden, and he wasn’t the system, the OKC Thunder was the system. Even though he never won a MVP and was mostly scoring from off the bench, he was the glue that held that OKC team together, if it wasn’t for Harden, OKC would never have a team like they had back then and now. Just look at Embiid’s The Process in Phili, yah they were way worse and a dumpster fire compared to the Harden system in Houston.

Presti has been soooo good, but my lord that Harden trade was atrocious. Even if you didn’t know he was gonna turn in to what he did. He was clearly VERY good, at the very least a perennial 6MOTY. Also the thing was, it’s not like they moved him at the deadline or it was a S&T. They moved him in Y4 of his rookie deal before the season started. They could’ve just gone in to the season, and no doubt there would’ve been a ton a value there for Harden at the deadline if they still wanted to move him. I mean even if they took him to RFA, they could’ve S&T’d him and gotten something. Not two 1sts plus the 12th pick from that draft, including one that was a late lotto pick and a seemingly solid role player. Although they traded Kevin Martin for legit nothing even after he had a good season. But still could’ve gotten prolly a solid 1st, maybe a bit more. They also could’ve seen how the season played out, tried giving Harden more of a role and seen how it went, and they were actively contending! AND it was over a very small amount of money. The CBA was new, but they would’ve learned more about the upcoming TV deal as the season went on, learned more about how the CBA would affect them, all that. This was a rare Presti fumble, but his biggest by far. That and never getting a reasonable SF on that team lol. But who knows, maybe if that doesn’t happen he doesn’t learn from it and become who he is now. They’re so well positioned for the next absolute minimum 5-7 years it’s insane.

It was less of a "trade" and more of a hostage negotiation. Dude tanked his trade value by publicly leaking he wanted out, then tanked it even more when he said he wouldn't re-sign with whoever would trade for him if it wasn't either of the 2 Los Angeles teams. Dude wanted to go home to LA and was looking for a scapegoat to get out of SA

The Kawhi trade is still unfolding in the form of Keldon Johnson, Malaki Branham, and the first from Toronto and one from Chicago.

As a Kings fan. Please do more research. Vlade wasn’t the GM for those first two picks you said he made. Secondly the Kings didn’t draft Luka because they feared his fit with Fox and wanted a new big to replace Boogie.

Loved this video until the 28 minute mark. As a suns fan you gave me ptsd :( Luka + Booker what if haunts my nightmares. In that timeline I’m a billionaire. And they definitely most definitely would have won atleast once by now.
