I was feeling the same way. I recently just reread my copies of Lock & Key and was surprised just how far the netflix series goes off the original source. It's not awful by any means, but it is not even close to the staggeringly cohesive and impactful story that the comic delivers. Good on Netflix for doing something cool, but this could have been very different in a much darker way.

The characters were all acting so different…there’s literally a scene where a girl bites some guys ear off or something and the vibe was completely different than season 1. Binge watched two seasons .. don't have the patience to tolerate these two dumb sibling Kinsey, Bode and hopeless character Nina.. The comics are more mature and serious than the show that tries to be Stranger Things with a different setting. The comics are very dark and disturbing, a lot of human suffering is in it, all characters are very damaged individuals. And that is what makes their journey and destination so much more fulfilling. In the series, they are just a bunch of teens with some magic keys and they fight a demon. There are some enjoyable moments, but overall - a somewhat boring series I am afraid. Simply because the one footing a bill for this said "That Stranger Things show is a hit, it made lots of money, make me one like it!" instead of embracing what Locke&Key really is and what makes it stand out. I mean, comics are all nicely drawn and colorful... but damn, it is some serious shit.

No it’s not the alpha key. It looks way different than in the comics and so far they have stayed in point with the designs. Plus Gabe is helping to make it. Do you really think he would help make the alpha key? I actually think that it’s the exact opposite and when you use it, it will in fact pass a demon onto you. This might work because the key can absorb the demons from the black door?

The echos, demons, the locked....they were all so stupid. As much as I like the first season, this season is a bit boring and time consuming on most part. That was the dumbest thing that happened in season 1. Like, they had already established that Dodge couldn’t take the keys from a Locke, so why send a non-Locke to get the crown?? I was really annoyed at that because, from my point of view, it was a forced way to move the plot into a specific direction without realizing that there were other, more logical, ways to get a similar outcome. Near the end of season 1, they have the key for the Crown of Shadows, but not the crown itself because it's at Ellie's house (and I believe she was also worried about her son). Instead of having one of the kids go to her house to retrieve the crown and protect her son, they send/let Ellie go there (a non-Locke) WITH the key. All three LOCKE kids stayed behind, waiting for her to come back. The same kids that Dodge is unable to take keys from.
