Good evening, Jake and Grant! Mixec emotions swirl throughout my mind and heart. While this season has had many twists and turns , the Braves did make the postseason but just unable to play more than two games. Injury laden from start to finish . Just unable to overcome those . Down to last out , our pitching was generally outstanding. The real problem has been the lack of offense. For whatever reasons , our big guns just could never mount a consistent offensive effort to put up runs. I hope someone can come up with viable reasons for this and make recs to change the philosophy and action of the team for next season. I seriously hope that a plan will be developed and implemented during off season to better this team for next year. I am doubtful that Fried will be a Brave next season, but he had been a stalwart person/player for the Braves . Oven thank him for his tenure with the Braves and wish him well wherever he goes! There will likely be multiple personnel changes made during off season. Some I welcome and others I will have mixed sentiments. Thank both of you for helping us, the fans, to have an otherwise frustrating season. Your candor znd honesty is refreshing and I truly appreciate your hard work and faithfulness to your trade. To you guys , players , coaches and s as lol who had a part in this season, THANK YOU and h as be a super off season . Look forward to seeing you in 2025!! Peace out!! God bless all of you!!!

There were just too many injuries to overcome, along with a lack of offense. I have no idea where they should go in the off-season, but I am not so convinced that they should re-sign Fried, as he didn't show much this year as an "ace." Don't get me wrong, he is a very good pitcher , though his production this year makes me leery for the contract, he will likely command. The only real wish of mine is for Morton to retire. I’m not sure why they started Smith on the first game. I think baseball has a lot to do with momentum. I would suggest the braves hire a bunting guru and teach these guys to bunt. Some more base runners would be helpful. How many SOLO homers did we have? A bunt sure beats a strike out.

The only ones that need to do any bunting is guys like Eli White, Arcia, maybe Urshela, and Merrifield who did have a couple bunts with the Braves.
@bruce2288evans3 ай бұрын
@@MassBoost Okay an example with the extreme shift employed against Michael Harris ,virtually any bunt dropped down the third baseline would be a hit. No I am not suggesting he bunt every 4th at bat. What I am saying is it is there, a few bunt base hits may also cause teams to modify there shift and open up the middle of the field for ground balls. Just a weapon in the arsenal that has been totally abandoned.
@MassBoost3 ай бұрын
@@bruce2288evans There is no such things as extreme shifts any more, as infielders can no longer cross 2nd base any more, thus 2 infielders are always required on both sides of 2nd base per rules. Also that suggests that he or anyone else can lay down the perfect bunt a majority of the time, and that rarely happens. There's been studies where they collected data of 36,000 bunts ending in 2013, (10,000 bunts from pitchers, 26,000 bunts from position players), only 50% of the time bunts were bunted fair, and the amount of bunters who didn't produce an out was extremely small. Studies have suggested in a majority of cases that the only ones who should bunt are probably batters who can't hit for any power, or batters who have extremely poor offensive production.

I AM mad. The core that is Harris, Albies, Olson, Ozuna, Murphy, & Arcia deserves analysis. Harris was the ONLY bat that showed constant contact and an ability to adjust to different hitting situations. The jury is out, and the Braves must regret letting Freeman run into the arms of the grateful Dodgers. Olson has been a playoff zero the past three seasons, and most of this season has been an abject dud. Ozuna had a year that he will never replicate in his (current) advanced years. Added to that is he is also a playoff dud that has been mediocre at best, with little clutch to his game - frankly, I am glad he is going elsewhere. Murphy has been a strikeout machine, and the Braves are fortunate to have d'Arnaud to shore up the catcher position hit stats. I can tell you unequivocally that I am sick and tired of Arcia's and Albies' free-swinging ways. It's either very rare contact, or (more often than not) a strikeout. They do not know how to shorten their swing to make contact, have NO situational awareness whatsoever, and they swing like Babe Ruth times ten thousand. One more thing: if Albies was NOT healthy enough to switch hit, he was NOT healthy enough to play - and Merrifield should have been playing all along (something I could have easily lived with given that Merrifield always gives pro at-bat's). The game is coming around - as it ALWAYS does! - and value will be placed once again on getting legs on bases. Whatever you think about Acuña, the facts are these: the Braves do NOT have a Harper or Turner, do NOT have a Freeman or Betts, do NOT have a Tatis or Machado, do NOT have a Lindor, do NOT have a Witt Jr., do NOT have a Soto, do NOT have a Ramirez, do NOT have that clutch bat that makes contact, knows how to go opposite field, and puts the fear of God in an opposing pitcher's mind. Freeman was that guy, and that is why, when given a legit chance, the Braves won in '21. For all of the hype and 40-70, Acuña has yet to prove he IS that guy when it MATTERS most, and NO one else in next year's projected lineup even comes close when September goes to October (with the probable/notable exception of Harris). Damnable shame Sale crapped out when needed most, and the soon-to-be-gone Fried laid a fantastic egg in G2. That said, this rotation was ready to show it was the best rotation in the whole playoff scene. Damnable shame that core bats showed you now what they've showed you all season long - that when the chips are down, it's either a strikeout or a feeble pop-up/fly ball. They showed you that against meaningful pitching, all they do is lay down and lose 1-0 - like they did against the @#$%en White Sox. If both the SS and LF positions are not replaced with high OBP/high contact/LOW strikeout bats for next year, this signed core that was the pride of the MLB will ALWAYS wallow in choking mediocrity for the duration of those high-value contract years.

Kelenic has an option left if they want to continue working on his hitting in the minors as he was fine against right handers, but hitting left handers still is a problem, and he was the 3rd best in the Clutch on the team, and did something the rest of the team lacked most of the time, hitting with runners in scoring position as he hit .284/.330/.469 with a 114 wRC+. Soler hit just fine hitting 243/.356/.493 with a 135 wRC+, it's just a matter if you want to keep him and his salary.

I am glad that it is the finality to a trying and frustrating season. Atanta will roar back next year an dnot be afflicted by the injury bug as they were this year. I can see a pitching staff of a renewed Spencer Strider, Spencer Schwellenabach, Chris Sale and Reynoldo Lopez. I can see Alex really trying to woo Max Fried back. Charlie Morton will and should retire. How about trying to get a fifth starter in Nathan Eovaldi , for instance.? And by all means give Drake Baldwin a chance at catcher if travis D'Arnaud chooses to retire.I can now see A J Smith-Shawver more as long relief than as a starter. But i can see Grant Holmes as a potential fifth starter.Trade Jared Kelenic, but keep Ramon Laureano. Have him platoon left field with Jorge Soler. Ronald will be back and Michal Harris is a fixture Keep Whit Merrifield as a reserve infielder if he doesn't retire. But maybe Nacho Alvarez will be ready soon. Though Autin Riley will be back, keep Gio Urschela if you can. The bullpen was outstanding but trade Aaron Bummer if possible. Mark my words, the Braves will come roaring back from adversity and definitley make a statement next year. But cngratulations to Atlanta for performing well under amountain of adversity.. Grant and jake, you were and are still outstanding. You encourage us with every victory and console us with every loss. May the Lord bless both of you this off season.

I don't see Eovaldi going anywhere, as he has a $20mil player option, so he's likely not an option. I'm pretty sure d'Arnaud's not going to retire, and the Braves have an option on him for next year. No need to trade Kelenic, he still has an option, and can be sent down to the minors if they want to try to continue developing him. Merrifield is a possibility, as he wanted to be in Atlanta before this as he's a South Carolina native, but there's likely no room for Urshela if you bring up Nacho, as that would put Merrifield, Arcia, Laureano/Soler, and d'Arnaud on the bench, so the bench would be full. Why would they trade Aaron Bummer?

Disappointing season. As always, Atlanta sports sets up to disappoint. Who’s next? Falcons, not making playoffs. Hawks? Will definitely suck this upcoming season too

Players that do not contribute anything to our offense and need to be traded. Orlando Arcia Sean Murphy Those two players need to be erased asap. The Murphy trade proves to be terrible. Grissom should have won the job at short stop over Arcia. Arcia and Murphy were guaranteed strike outs and double play outs almost every at bat.
@cw98253 ай бұрын
Grissom was not good this season for the Redsox and was injured most of it. We will most likely move on from Arcia, but there is nothing wrong with Murphy. Just a derailed season for him.

@@cw9825 Sean Murphy had a good first half last season. What has he done since then? I’m sorry sir but it’s unacceptable. This is a championship organization and Murphy and Arcia were guaranteed outs all year long.

@@BigNos2024 missing 49 games to start the season due to an oblique injury will definitely mess up your swing. He’s 1 season removed from his first all-star appearance. I think asking for him to be traded away is a bit much.

I wanted to give up but I believed through all 164 that the offense would click. Just never did. Here's to a happy and healthy 2025. Please sign Max! Please make a short stop change as well. Arcia just isn't that dude.

And so it comes to an end, we should give these braves some credit, they actually found a way to the playoffs even with all of the players they lost and practically everyone on the lineup underperforming. I really enjoyed some aspects of this season, like the elite pitching and the home run surge after the ASG. We will see what 2025 will hold in store. Lets go braves🪓
