Man what perfect timing for this video. I have the replace the coil on the mower I just got and was wondering about how to set the gap and it's rusty too from sitting. I will make sure to clean that rust off for sure.

@@shabear1000 it worked perfect, I was thinking I would need to buy a feeler gauge. Got all the rust off too, came off easy with a wire brush.

I’d bet that 3 Briggs & Stratton horsepower from 1989 are stronger than 3 Hazard Fraught horsepower from present day. Seems they rated things much more conservatively in years past. I have a 1964 Cub Cadet 70 that pulls itself with me atop it while running a 38” 3 spindle mower deck using a 7 HP Kohler engine, then in the mid 90s got a Craftsman 21” push mower that claimed to have a 6 HP engine. I find it difficult to believe that it only took one additional HP to power 38” worth of mower deck and drive around a cast iron transaxle equipped lawn tractor. Methinks manufacturers fib a bit more these days… Nice job getting that little bugger running again - the failed coil is likely why they parked it, and it just got stuck from not moving for years.

I agree with you 100 percent. I've had old 5 1/2 horse power Go-Karts totally eat newer 8-10 horse power carts all day long. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a safe holiday my friend.
