As a Coug, I never really thought Dickert was an excellent coach, but he was a fierce defender of the program. His move was a hurtful because it nullifies his previous defense of the program and the PAC. I hate college football.

Oregon state is having a good day… got 2 good transfers (maalik murphy and byu TE) most of our offense stayed. We are making a comeback. Watch out for the beavers next season.

The Beavers are a small G5 program at best. If i was an Oregon st fan i would push more toward FCS that way it would be very successful at that level.

Honestly, Dickert committed career suicide yesterday. How's he going to recurit when he's been proven to be a bold faced liar? No one is going to go. "Yes! I want to play for the guy who said I'll be here for at least 10 more years and then dipped not even 24 hours later. I trust him!" And to make matters worse on this entire story. The weasel didn't even give WSU a chance to counter per their AD. He just said, "I got an offer, and I'm gone."

@tonymorrellcomedy9654 he went to arguably the single worst power 4 job in America and won't be able to recruit once the competition shows his potential recruits his used car salesman pitches about loyalty. Also, when the ACC breaks up, which it will. He's going to be in a worse spot than he was at WSU. Those are facts. That is why no one will hear from him again on the national stage and why he committed career suicide. At best, WF is lateral move, and that's only because WSU doesn't have a real conference right now. In 5 years, this move will be seen as a demotion and a major step down. Had he stayed at WSU another year, he could have had a chance to jump to a Big10 school or a decent ACC or Big12 program.

@JohnOdermott and Smith went to a upper half power 2 program. No one would question why someone would take Mich State over OSU. Taking arguably the worst power 4 job in America is at best a lateral move today and will be seen as a major step back/demotion in 5 years.

I have to disagree. I don’t think this says anything about Washington State or Oregon State. I think this says more about Dickert than anything. Dude has his own players coming out against him, which means he lost the locker room along time ago. Dude left a good team for a not good team, a building conference to an imploding conference… All for a few more bucks. It’s more about him than about WSU and the Pac12.

Dickert had a hard time keeping assistants, not certain what that says about his leadership style. Leach's assistants were very loyal to him. Have any Wazzu assistants left to be on his Wake Forest Staff?

Jake Dickert walked out on Wazzou and that stinks. Something I have only seen done by a NFL owner once when Bill Callahan was OC of the Dallas Cowboys and had an offer to leave after the 2013 season. Jerry Jones said no, you are under contract until 2014. Callahan stayed.

I'm really tired of people Coddling the Pac-2. Everyone, including those two, had a hand both in the decade leading up to the beginning of the collapse and during the collapse. Nobody from Wazzu or OSU should complain about betrayal. They literally cozzied up to the Mountain West and promised not to poach while fully intending to poach, and then are suing to get out of paying the penalties for said poaching. That's the most duplicitous act amongst any schools from the old Pac-12. Those two are the Billy Mitchell of CFB.

Yep. I was rooting for the PAC 2 when they got screwed by the rest of their conference. But then they turned around and did the same thing to the MW. Now they're scrounging around trying to convince any lower-tier team they can find to join for football. Would have easily had the top G5 conference if they had just merged wit the MW. Washington state and the PAC 2 now getting what they deserve. I'm sure they'll get a great media deal too.

This hurts because it's spot on. As a Beaver Fan (alumn) there is zero incentive to care anymore. We're a farm club. Money officially ruined college football. Our reward for any player (or coach even!) is they get success and exposure, they move on. And the way the system is now, they're almost a fool not too. I suppose I should be happy my Saturdays are freed up now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unfortunately, if wazzu has success, they will get picked over by teams with more money to spend on players and coaches. Same goes for the way the Big 12 and ACC will get poached by the SEC and Big ten. Coaches and players will just follow the money. It's a disappointing reality.

@@tilu3303 Big ten and SEC now get double the payouts of the Big 12 and ACC with their new media deals. The lower budget schools now have the resources to increase. The gap between the P2 and the P3/P4 will widen, and the gap to the G6 will become a huge chasm. The Rich will feast off the poor.

Total over-reaction!!! The way Dickert left says a lot more about him than it does the school. He wasn't who he appeared to be on the outside - just ask his locker room. Watch Montana State's coach come in and do much more than Dickert accomplished here. Also look at the amount of money Oregon State has put into it's sports programs which even exceeds Wazzu's, and you'll gain some valuable perspective.

The pac-x will never be able to compete financially with the other autonomy conferences. At least Wake Forest will have more resources, not that that automatically equates to success, but it's definitely a step up. Any reasonable and honest comparison would support that WF is an improvement.

Aight. What? So I don't think Wazzu or OrSt to the Big XII was realistic unless they would be willing to take a significantly reduced media payout. But your lack of coherent logic here is uhm. Program wants back into the P4. Program loses QB to Oklahoma Program loses Coach to one of the worst P4 jobs imaginable. And your conclusion is...welp they're cooked because this clearly demonstrates they can't handle p4 level football. No sh*t. This isn't an enditment on Wazzu. This isn't a celebration of Wake. This is the clearest signal being set that the divide between the P4 and G5 is reaching a point of no return.

WF has been more successful than a lot of big 12 teams. Also the B12 made it clear wsu isn't a expansion candidate. Also the pac will probably add Memphis, Tulane, USF, utsa and UConn. Also Jakes not gonna wait for opportunities to be p4 when one is calling. Youre a Re.T. He would be silly not to take WF job

It still is! The a.c.c is down and the s.e.c is weak from the middle down. The big ten isn't that tough. The big 12 is the most competitive. My Baylor team is gonna get on L.S.U tail. Don't be surprised if az st makes the championship game. Tx a former big 12 team makes playoff in first year of sec. Smu makes playoff in first year of acc. Oregon makes playoff in first year of big 10. You really have no clue to who is the power 5 conference lol
