Bruce hit the nail on the head about Shannon Dawson. This is his year to show his play calling potential. I want to see the TE’s involved, wheel routes out of the backfield with 2 back sets and for crying out loud where is the motion to create the matchups you want. This drove me crazy last year. I spoke with Dawson at the airport last month he was on my flight and the first question I asked him is what the hell is wrong with the TE’s and he laughed. I think he understands what we expect. GT exposed Van Dyke last year and after that he was a headcase. Hell of a job by the GT DC in figuring out Van Dyke and how to get to him

Funny. Bruce is nervous about the Florida game. Thing is, so am I. On paper, we should absolutely eat them up. But, as we all know, games aren’t played on the paper. So, two things. Coaching, coaching, coaching. And I mean game management, not development. Big issue. Hopefully having the same staff continuity wise will help greatly, and they learn from last year as well as the players. Second, there are times where better roster talent and intellect will overcome less than stellar play calling. I know Miami is not as deep as we’d like to be, but, and it’s a big “BUT”, they are as deep and talented as I’ve seen in a long, long time. Personally, I’d love to see Florida as a strong SEC team this year and we beat them anyway. I mean, we’re substantially better than last year in my opinion, and we Beat A&M last year. I believe A&M is a better team than Florida. But you never know. Everyone thought FSU was not going to be great the last few years. And we were dead wrong. So, I think the Florida game will be a litmus test of sorts for us. It’s a must win game. We need to play that game hard and send a message.

Solid point. So Miami is ranked 12th according to Bud with a 61% ratio going into 2024. Let’s take a look at how that’s worked for you recently. Last year you were ranked 12th with a 61% ratio. Literally identical… and you lost 6 games. The year prior you were ranked 14th with a 55% ratio… and lost 7 games. FSU on the other hand has yet to crack 50% in Mike’s time, but they are up 11% from last year. So basically, if you believe blue chip ratios to be important, which you obviously do seeing as how you are obsessed with recruiting rankings and you posted this, we can extrapolate that Miami is ZERO PERCENT better than the team that just lost 6 games and that this is far and away the best FSU team Mike has ever had. TV3ints was a problem. Not just his injuries, but the issues in the 5 1/4" between his ears. His comprehension skills fell far short of where they needed to be in order to operate, correctly and consistently, the Shannon Dawson offense. Coach Dawson, in turn, was forced to water down and simplify the plays for baby Ty. Cam on the other hand has had a few years in an offense that's somewhat similar to what he's become accustomed to. The big challenge on offense will be to get all of the guys on the same page. The younger guys I see less issues with because they're learning the system with an uncluttered mind. The older guys that have been through a couple to a few different offensive schemes may struggle a little. I still believe that the squad will do pretty well, overall. I can see them winning more than what they did last year. 12 - 0 would be a long shot but doable. 11 - 1 that's still a stretch but doable, given our softer schedule. 10 - 2 that's not as difficult and with a few breaks attainable. 9 - 3 is where I believe they'll finish up the regular season.
