Dennis Allen was the scapegoat for Mickey Loomis’ ineptitude in the front office. Yes DA should have been let go but was he given the full compliment of a cache of cash to spend in the offseason or draft picks to help be successful? No. The front office has missed on draft picks 3 years in a row. The team hasn’t had money to spend in free agency for years. Firing DA doesn’t solve the bigger issue and it’s Loomis that is keeping this team from thriving because he has mismanaged the cap for years and none of these analysts are lobbying that point.

Would be nice to trade out of a top 5 pick and build capital to draft Arch Manning in the future. The only QB taken by the Saints in rd1 was his Grandfather. It would be a great story. It would also provide time to build a team ( OL and WR depth) that would allow for his success.

This change was definitely overdue. The Saints learned a tough lesson by sticking with in-house hires and banking on that continuity, which ultimately didn’t pan out. While Dennis Allen might get the boot, he'll still be collecting a paycheck from the Saints-unlike many who face job loss and don’t have that safety net. And honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if Allen finds himself in Denver alongside Sean. As for the Saints, they could make a bold move for Belichick, potentially even firing Loomis to grant Belichick full control. It might sound far-fetched, but Gayle isn't about to lose money over a complete rebuild.

D. Allen was a great Defensive Coach under S. Peyton, but he wasn't a good HC. I think he should have stayed Defensive Coach and Saints could have brought someone else in as HC. Defense has actually looked very bad also, they don't look like they did when D. Allen was Coach. Honestly I think they should have gotten rid of D. Carr also because he's a horrible QB. He overthrow the ball and if he doesn't overthrow it, its to wide.

Well, the "Next Era" does not get under way now. Not much changes, someone takes over as interim, maybe they win one game off of that, then later they start to get McCoy and some other players back and eke out a win or two here or there... which would have happened with or without Allen. At the end of the year, then maybe the next era will start. And there's no reason to think the result of that will be much different until the Saints solve their recurrent injury issues and can keep starters on the field.

We should have NEVER hired DA as our HC. The defense was great but now we've let go and traded and it's not clicking. I hope he finds another role as a DC but we needed to move on as HC. The last 2 years have been tough. He lost then last year with his actions. At this point, we need to look at draft picks for next year. 😢
