manual says to keep them all plugged in the water at all times, so that any water accumulation will not sink the boat, and that water that gets in the hull, has an internal passage to the bilge, which has a pump. Also keep note that the boat has 2 ways to rid water, actively via bilge, and passive. The passive method is for surface water that gets on the surface deck, the boat has channels that lead to the rear platform to passively drain water (in a way self bailing, specially when you keep the bow up with throttle in the event significant water gets in from a wave). Lets say you are storing boat outdoors on a trailer, you can keep all plugs open, even the hull drain plugs so there is no rain acummulation in boat on dry land. Also the bilge stays active even with battery off and key not inserted in any situation.

Great video. I have owned my 17 ar190 for about 4 years now. I wish I saw your video 3 years ago haha. Great explanation and solution for new boaters. “It’s a boat”

I for sure leave my ski locker plug out. At the end of a day on the lake, it'll have a lot of slimy nasty water in there from putting in and pulling out wakeboards, tubes, skis, floaties. It would be a moldy mess in there if I left the drain plug in.

Hey Jeff , i have my plug open in the ski locker but it looks like it’s clogged. Still have water sitting in it any tips on unclogging ? Thanks !

Take a garden and spray into it, you wont hurt anything.

Hey Jeff. New boater, and ive watched several of your videos. Thanks . I have yet to find a vid that shows how to wash the interior of a yamaha jet boat. Im sure its pretty basic but any plans for a video on this?

I pull my carpet out and use a hose and bucket of soap. I will make a video on it for you too, good idea.

Just bought a 2007. How much water should come out from the drain plug after a day on the water. We took it out for a test run call it 10 minutes. About 2 quarts of water came out once we put it on the trailer and removed the plug. The more I think about it I am nervous. First jet boat.

How much water should come out? It all depends on what you are doing. If we are wakeboarding/surfing with people getting in and out of the boat all day then we will have a gallon come out of it. But after 10 minutes it should still be dry. You may have had water in the bilge that finally moved to the back of the boat after running it. I would check your scupper valve for leaks and here is a really good way to do it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGXYooCeYtN6d8k

I bought an OEM plastic scupper for my 2005 SX230, but see that you upgraded yours to the stainless steel. Should I consider buying that instead before I start my project? I sort of figured the OEM has been on my boat for nearly 20 years and I didn't want to do any grinding to put on or flush fit an aftermarket stainless steel.

You are absolutely right, rock the plastic. I'm pretty sure Yamaha still uses a plastic one on the new models.

@Jeff Does This... hello. Thanks for another awesome video. Question. What size and where can I buy all the drain plugs for ski locker , engine, etc.. ?
@pastorfred3460 Жыл бұрын
If you leave the plugs out and water is draining into the cavity between the shell and the floor, how does that water then drain? Don’t you want water gathering in bilge where the bilge pump is located? Also, do you have a bilge pump video? I have a new to me 2015 AR210 and was shocked to read in the owners manual that bilge toggle must be kept on whenever in the water and if boat is stored in water, both the battery switch and bilge toggle should be on…why isn’t the bilge also direct wired to the battery?

Question 1 - The water drains into your bilge from the center locker. There are no compartments that water can get trapped into in the boat. Question 2 - They way your bilge pump is wired is how 99% of all boats are wired up. You can change it out but it works just fine. I have left mine stock and had ZERO problems.

I have order 5 drain plugs from Part Zilla all wrong. I have A 2007 sx-210. The lower outside drain plug that literally drains the boat. Any way to get a part number for it?

@@stanandrewski5465 I have an '05 SX230. The main drain plug is just a 1/2NPT brass plug. Should be able to get one at any hardware store.

Jeff, please see my comment on the previous video. I had 6” of water on the bilge thinking it was because I left the plug out in your video. Based on this video, it sounds like I have a leak in the scupper or something else. Any advice on how to seal the exhaust outlet or the scupper? There was old caulking hanging out of my exhaust outlet.

Did your black matt for your ski locker come with your boat or did you purchase it after? If so do you know where?
@JeffDoesThis2 жыл бұрын
They come with the boat from the factory, most likely someone through it away when you bought it. Here is the link for it - amzn.to/3zFXhm2
