Wash pot and rub cooking oil over inside and put in oven or on pit, heat for 30 minutes. Always wipe with cooking oil after washing pot to prevent rust

Most of that looks like surface rust from moisture exposure. Instead of the oil, you can use solid shortening. It's easier to apply.

Are you able to use soap on cast iron? I always heard once its seasoned all you do is wipe it out, since it absorbs the soap??? Not sure just what i heard.

The cast iron dutch oven can be scrubbed with a 3M pad or scrub brush. If that doesn't work, you could use a Brillo pad but the hard core cast iron folks will probably freak out. The seasoning is gone or it wouldn't have rusted. Then wipe it with a light coat of vegetable oil and warm it up on the stovetop or in the oven, then wipe any remaining oil out. That should keep it from rusting further.

Use coarse salt to scrub off the rust and scrub heated salt in the pot to season it. Finish by applying a high smoke-point oil into a hot pot and then let it cool naturally.

Rust out of cast iron. Wash it with dawn dish soap. Use a steel scrubber till rust it gone. The next step is key. Take a paper towel and put 3 drops of veg. Oil in the pan. Use the towel to smear it all over the inside of the pan. Put in a low temp oven 250 for about 20 minutes. This is called seasoning the pan and should be done after each use. Eventually that pan will be more non stick than any pan you have ever had.

Luna cameo at the end made it all worth while. So far the locker is not fulfilling expectations. I really hope those cases hold something magical in them. Perhaps I will get the script early at tomorrow's garage sale. You heard it here 1st. The daily rag sends its finest reporter out to interview Locker Nuts and get inside into what is in them cases, lol! Let's see if I can break that story. Have a good one Jack and Janna!.

My son’s used to be in a band. They tell me that those old guitar amps can be worth money to professional musicians. They have vacuum tubes which give them a better sound than electronic ones. Some music stores carry replacements. The old vacuum tubes are made in Russia.

I have several cast iron skillits and pots which we use constantly and weve had them for years. I clean them with dawn and water put them on the stove to dry them. Once they have cooled i use cooking oil on the whole inside and that keeps them from warping and pretty much everything. I have done this on some rusty ones too!

If not wanting to put in fire the cast. Iron scrub with steel wool once clean, then put oil rub in and outside put on low temp in oven low 250-275 if below sea level 225. Every Time you you use especially inside and lid don't use soap when cleaning no DW EITHER. So many ways to do cleaning had my Grandmothers & Mothers so they can last forever if taken care. Good cast iron pot. When you put it in oven after oil is called seasoning and will last quite awhile btw reseasoning.

So far, the cast iron kettle/lid is the nicest piece...for me. Rust is easy to remove. Just don’t use metal scratch pad. Then clean with vinegar and dry completely. Then rub a good cooking oil into inner surfaces (my grandma always used pure fat or lard). Putpan in oven for 1 hour on low bake. Remove and wipe clean with soft cloth. Cook away but don’t vigorously clean again until necessary. I have many of my grandmas that I use that haven’t been re-cured for years. She would tell me to just get pan good and hot before using. She was on “old school” grandma with knowledge beyond a google.

Comet and a scrub spoong and elbow grease will scrub away the rust then hand wash in hot soapy water. After drying well take a paper towel dipped in vegetable oil wipe every part of the cast iron inside and out even the lid then place your Dutch oven in a 350 degree preheated oven leave for 1 hour alow to cool in the oven. You have just seasoned the cast iron if it seems uneven repeat with the oil and bake for 1 more hour.

That cast I iron didn't look like it had been used or seasoned yet, so you can clean it any way you like. Soap and water or a brillo pad. DRY well. Pre- heat oven to 300°. Warm the pot fir about 5-10 minutes. Pull or and saturate inside with peanut oil, rub outside lightly, return to oven for 10-15 minutes. Wipe out excess oil. Return to oven. After 10 minutes turn off your oven and allow y to cool in closed oven when cool wipe again to make sure no oil is puddled inside. If there was oil puddled, put on a med. heat stove burner fire 5 minutes, remove and wipe again. Cool and put away. It should look a little darker and have a like sheen. If it had never been seasoned you can repeat the seasoning steps a couple times to build it up. Once done it will become a non- stick pan. Great for frying, making cornbread, even pancakes. I have haf a family cast iron pan for 40 years that my dad had for at least 20 before that. Great pans.

Ok you can bring that cast iron back to new. Scrub it with warm soapy water use a brillo pad or even a wire brush till it all rust comes off. Then wash it again with warm soapy water rinse. Towel dry then cure it again. Wipe oil all over inside and out with veggie oil or crisco. Cook in oven at 400 to 450 for 45 min. Make sure you put tin foil on shelf under pot to catch oil drippings. Let cool and do not rewash with soapy water. If you need to clean it try not to use soap again or you may need to cure it again. I love cast iron skillets.

Scrub with salt rince and repeat. No soap! Rust will eventually be eliminated. Then grease all over with oil and place in oven set at 225 for a few hours. Wipe out with paper towels and then coat with oil. Considering amount of oil may need a second round. Kept clean and never use soap twill last forever. If not, take it to your low end flea market as is, someone will cough up $5 for it.

With the cast iron you can put in your oven and put it on the self cleaning and let it go the cycle and the wash it and then reseaon it, then its good as new.

Do you think that guy bid you up on purpose? Isn't it possible they start reading bidders and it becomes like a poker game? (The owners I mean, some might have plants at their auctions to bid people up sometimes when they think it will work). Hope you make money for your labors.
