Just got one of these, fun pick. Didn't realize it didn't come with the special key. After I picked it the other direction to make sure it would do the trick, I made the special key from the duplicate it came with. That was also quite entertaining. Twice the fun as a regular padlock!

Yes, I've only heard good things about commando locks, but never picked one myself. Great picking and nice trick ;-)

I have a few commandos some pick easy and some are tough. I have the one with the IC3 shackle guard which is cool so you have to pick it twice to open it or cheat and use a plug spinner

Noctis Motus yeah. I'd love one for myself, but the import prices aren't really worth it. You get a similar picking experience from Federal Lock padlocks anyway and I have Tonnes of them at the moment :-)

Interesting... As the Commando lock I have with swap shackle from low to high uses the the same key and just twists in direction to change. Seems Patrick is using other methods. Great video buddy

@@LockNoob By some miracle, out of the blue today I was able to pick it like within a couple of minutes. I tried again, and could not do it nor on any other day. A good challenging fun lock to grow with.

Hey, Noob, I am pretty old, and know a lot of stuff, but as you may know, I am really new to picking. What I would like to see is a beginners guide to key ways. I hear you guys talking about the "typical" Schlage, kwickset, american, etc key ways. When I try to get info on these, I see hundreds of variations. I would love it if you would do a 20 minute "primer" on your opinions of the various really common key ways, with typical pick and wrench combinations you prefer. Also, some examples of paracentric key ways and how to attack them Thanks, R
@LockNoob7 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, certainly food for thought, thanks :-) I agree with the variations on the market, but companies like Masterlock, Lockwood, Yale, Schlage, Abus and others use one or two keyway profiles FAR more than their other ones. I'm not sure my own lock collection is broad enough to be able to give a competent overview, but I might give it a go one day :-)

Commando Lock is quite a good name and it looks pretty nice :D. I have heared that they make very good locks :). Pretty interesting how they made the shackle removable :), that was cool to see and the cutout key looks funny :D (and flimsy haha). Thanks a lot for sharing buddy, great lock :).
@LockNoob7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was really paranoid I'd snap the key off and ruin Pete's lock, but it was OK in the end :-) the lock is very good so I'd recommend buying one if you ever get the chance

Commando locks are definitely on my list ;D, just under Paclocks ;D. They have a very good reputation for sure :). Have a nice weekend buddy :).
@lockbuster82737 жыл бұрын
i am not sure,but i have noticed on several of your videos that when you pick a lock you give realy strong pressure on your picks. they bend and twist like any minute they'll snap. do you brake a lot of picks?
@LockNoob7 жыл бұрын
I think it's the camera angle that makes it seem worse than it is, but yes, I don't mind twisting and bending a pick if I have to. Would you believe that so far in 1 8months of picking, I have only snapped 1 pick, a Sparrows short hook. I genuinely don't know how I have not snapped more :-)
@DonzLockz7 жыл бұрын
Congrats on the tri century!✌ They seem like a descent quality lock. I like the party trick, don't think I've seen that before or maybe just going senile.😁 I seen BB's video ages ago and remember liking them but that's it. I don't think they're available downunder either.✌🙋♂️

One of the few companies that are locksport friendly. You can hunt these locks down through eBay.

Pro tip: Depending on what I'm looking for, I'll search .com, .co.uk or any other domain that will provide results. From there it is usually a matter of communicating with the seller to negotiate delivery. Why should we limit our prospects? ;)
