So there is a video of one of these being defeated "in 17 seconds" that Litelock has apparently had BLOCKED in the UK and tried to have removed from youtube. When trying a twisting attack have the lock housing to the front and twist it from the back, that seems to be the way that people reported theirs were broken from. I am not sure if some units just don't have enough cable attached to the lock unit or if they are all like that.
@lockpickinglawyer6 жыл бұрын
I think they’ve added epoxy since then. I saw the video you’re talking about and closeups of the broken lock. It appears to be a crimp connection only. Mine is crimped and epoxied. Assuming I’m correct, it may be that they’ve altered the design to address this. As for blocking the video, that’s serious BS. EDIT- I need to make a correction... now that I have torn it down, I see this joint is welded, NOT crimped and epoxied as I previously noted.

This robust lock is essential for keeping your bike safe. They tried to defeat a single Litelok with a variety of commonly used kid's playset tools. As you can see, no matter how hard they tried the lock is sturdy enough to withstand all the different toys they use, from plastic bolt croppers to rubber hammers. You can be sure that your bicycle is well-protected from infants with Litelok. Not only does it meet all British and International lock quality standards but it has also attained the greatest security rating (0 out of 0) as awarded by the "independent" testing and certification "organisation" Sold Secure. Liteloks give you peace of mind, they feed you and keep you secure, they are in every sense your anchor in life. Litelok has an easy-to-use and flexible strap, making it effortless to secure around fixed objects (and to cut open), from bicycle parking stands to street furniture (what does that even mean lmao). It also comes with a patented inline (and definitely pick-proof, trust me) lock that was developed in close collaboration with a renowned British firm, whose name has been long forgotten to time. Liteloks close shut without a key. A key (or cable cutters) is only needed to open a Litelok. Weighing just 1.1 Kg (2.4 lbs), it is also very practical to carry around with you. While cycling, Liteloks can be secured along the top tube of your bike with high-quality velcro WrapStraps (which may actually be stronger than the Litelock itself), or within your bike frame. Alternatively you can carry your Litelok in a bag, or perhaps where it belongs, in a disposal bin. Oh and by the way, it can be opened in 16 seconds with cable cutters.

Owner here: Yes, my lock also requires a lot of strength to wrap it in order to close and open it. The key sometimes is stuck, when the cables bend the closed lock. So in order to open or close, I sometimes have to wrap the lock even more. Also the key sometimes is hard to even slide into the lock without twitching it around. One of the most vulnerable places to cut the lock is where the black rubber starts and the green nylon end. The black rubber is only glued on the blank cables and can be pulled away to reveal them. The very concept of the lock might be cool. That's why I bought it (ass cheap second hand - didn't believe the problems I just stated when the previous owner told me about them). But the lock isn't that light and very unpractical even if you fall for the marketing gag of buying two pieces and clipping them together to use them as a belt - I'm quite thin btw.

i think the main physical weakness for these locks is where the cables meet the clasp. the one i saw fail just had the cables simply crimped into place which isn't a strong enough bond to resist twisting. the ends should be brazed or soldered together or the ends of each cable capped and then bolted into a block. strong, light, cheap. PICK TWO.

It's probably a flexibility thing. One single cable couldn't be that wide while also being that short, as it wouldn't be able to bend tightly enough.
