Cant be a 4 minute pick on a bell product. He must have tossed in extra patter. Yep. Just over two minutes. And for 16$ thats a freakin great lock.

This is the lock I use. I’ve never been afraid of it being picked, as it can be a bear to open even with the Key.
@amandajensen33824 жыл бұрын
I have the 550 model, and can confirm it can be tricky to get open even with the key. The last locks I had on my bike were snapped by bolt cutters, which is why I bought this beefier one.

Yep. I remember one time this lock made me 45 minutes late for work because the key just wouldn't work lol. So I can't imagine trying to lockpick it.

Yooo this is the lock I have! It’s mostly a deterrent because there are so many bikes locked by cords or only by the (detachable) front wheel. A little hard to take off because you gotta weave through the wheel, frame, and rack.
@rashb39945 жыл бұрын
Sweet. I mostly park on the street anyways. I have one already but wanted a second lock for the other wheel. Was thinking my second lock should be a different but I'll just buy the same in a different color. Thanks!

I bought one of these two years ago for my motorcycle and it's great, easily the best deal on a decent U lock but if you get one, OIL OIL OIL IT! This thing arrives completely dry inside, and the Amazon reviews are full of poor folks who can't open theirs. I saturated mine with Brake Free and now it's actually smooth.

16mm shackle, it's bolt cutter proof, that's good enough for me haha.. i think every lock ever made has been picked, even the sargeant and greenleafs but there's only a handful of people in the entire world who can get them open.. maybe we need new locking technology not like the fingerprint scanner but do away with the pins.. maybe a mini computer chip that opens with push button fob that you carry and acts like the key encrypted with really long pieces of code to interact with the locking bolts and a 10 year disc battery that u can take out for extra security.. the problem with pins and dials is anyone has access and it's been a problem for years

You can pick them up on eBay from China with a plastic practice lock. But follow LPL's advice (and Bosnian Bill's) about modifying the pick. I ordered this one earlier last month and it arrived at the end of the month - www.ebay.com.au/itm/Disc-Type-Transparent-P-adlock-w-Disc-Blade-Detainer-Lock-Practice-Opening-Kit/201856478517 It seems to be on sale now at 5% off. Oops! Just noticed that they've all been sold. There are others, though.

soooo...the real question here is, who at Bell is actually going to pay someone a thousand dollars if given a picture of this lock destroyed on a public bike rack? are they going to shut you down with technicalities? send you a new lock? what if provided security footage of a thief screwspreading or ramsetting this lock to smithereens in broad daylight and happily running off with a brand new track bike.
@monkeyjuju74416 жыл бұрын
zaarl without actually checking, I'd be willing to bet you could easily find very pissed off posts on consumer websites angry that bell comes up with every excuse in the book for why they can't reimburse you for your stolen bike, or at the very least make you jump through hoop after hoop with a small likelihood of actually getting anything in the end.

Hello LockPickingLawyer, I'd like to have a dis/confrimation of this Bell lock beeing the same as the Tonyon TY328 (www.tonyon.com/test/gsl/enproxl.asp?Page=2&id=6#) as well as the Oxford HD (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ-ZoXlum6apqtk) beeing the same as Tonyon TY TY323. I had to open a brandless U lock without the keys and it was formidable, so I wanted to discover the producer. I am now convinced that what I have in my hands ia TY328. I have seen it by many different brands online and in shops in europe. BTW: 60cm stanley bolt cutter could not open enough; 2-tons car jack bent the arch a bit but kept slippin away; 750kgs car jack *bent* itself; battery dremel-like fried up. The only solution was a 4 minutes cut with 700W angle grinder and cutting disc. If you are interested I'll publish some pics when I'll dissect the mechanism. Or do you want it sent maybe?

Do you have the tools and experience to pick it? How many mass produced locks are exceptionally pick resistant? 5 spools and 6 serrated keypins and he got it open in under a minute: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKunc2qCYq15gLM Pick goes in at 1:12 and it's open at 2:03. That's what, 51 seconds? What's your security rating for that?
@two_tier_gary_rumain6 жыл бұрын
Based on what I've seen of the LPL, it's a 1 per minute.
@BobBobson6 жыл бұрын
Based on the number of videos that are 5 minutes or less, I'm assuming 99% get a 2 or under. Something like the Bowley is about the only thing that might get a 5, simply due to the warding design.
@two_tier_gary_rumain6 жыл бұрын
Have you seen the video of it being picked? Didn't take long but the guy doing it (I forget who it was now) designed special picks based on the key's bitting. A bit of a cheat but still ... The Bowley padlock might prove more of a challenge.
