Looking at the display, I was thinking that was the early stages of implementing PTC/TO up y’all’s way. Guess the conversation at the end confirms that haha

Tell me mike,what's it like to control the iron horse? To be able to see the beautiful scenery from your spot it looks like it just glides across the tracks ,what a great job,one can only fantasize ....? Thank you for Sharing with train lovers,handsome mike

Hi Debra thanks... You use your skills to make a good start in accordance to the rules and proceed to getting your train up to speed there are places that you cruise by that is like watching a real-time mural and if it's no at a stressful or intense moment you just say to yourself ahhh oh yes how nice all the while knowing you have thousands of tons rolling in unison. Now that scenario can play out throughout most of your trip. Again you could just have a good running train and a quick trip for that you get equal enjoyment. That's your good day examples. Then there are days things just don't go so well and you just wanna be some place other than that train.

I like how an engineer can just get up and leave, while the train is still in motion. :)

Thanks for these videos. Nice to see how the railway works in USA. I'am a loco engineer trainee in hungary and soon in full time. What is the avarege speed of a freight train? In Hungary it s about 90-100 kph with electro locos. Thanks, wish many safe tour.

Would you go to a hotel after your shift or go home ??
@locomotiveengineermikebarn80424 жыл бұрын
If it's not necessary to lay over at the hotel we go to our home terminals .
@WinnieTheTrain Жыл бұрын
I have a question. When done with your shift, do you sleep at a hotel in that area? Does the railroad pay for it? Also.... If you want to go to your home terminal, how do you get back home? Catch another train or Uber, or what?
