Only thing I ever wanted to do in life. It was very difficult to get in and I had to do something so I ended up driving boats in the coast guard instead 13 years later.

I noticed that in America we almost always travel with the high beams on and the flashing lights activated, couldn't they be annoying for passing trains? In Italy, low beams are normally used at night, high beams and additional headlights are used on very dark tracks and are turned off when you pass other trains or cars. There is a blue light on the dashboard that reminds you that they are on. the high beams and the symbol is like that of cars, while during the day only the position lights are used and the high beams are used only to attract attention together with the horn. In recent years with the advent of xenon headlights and in the very last years with LED lights, having the high beams on is a guarantee of blinding for those traveling in the opposite direction, with normal halogen lights this was less problematic

I've seen Mike's videos before. They always bring back so many memories My dad was a dispatcher on this W&A subdivision between Chatt and Atla. These were a special breed of men & women, moving freight on the steel rails every day. My dad is gone but I have the memories Tjanks

I’m wondering if you knew my dad Mike? He worked the Chattanooga sub. He’d work Wauhatchie in Chattanooga in the switch engine during the summers in the 2000’s.

Mr. Mike, I am a daily Runner. How do train personnel keep in shape with these hours. If I work 3:30pm-12MN, I run in morning am. If I work 7:30am-4pm, I run in the evening. How do train personnel keep in shape. When do you all eat. Do you all bring food on to the train?. I am very impressed with your videos. Do enjoy your retirement. God Bless 🙌 🙏 .

What is the difference between the engineer and the conductor? My father worked for CXS for 45 year. Passed in 1997 at age 70. I chose college(BA and MBA and a career in the U.S. Airforce), and i love my father for his railroad career. May he rest in peace 🙏 🪦 . Mr. Mike thanks for the video.

Gosh Mike hope retirement is well. Them days was right about the time R/R started all this new PTC stuff and stilll had train masters and road Forman now it’s all brand new stuff master of train operations. And no privacy period at least back in this time you could get by with little more They hire ya then set out to hide in the bushes to try to fire ya I never understood that and fire ya in tail terms pretty much means time off with out pay for how ever long after a board hearing. You wasn’t fired fired it was pretty hard to get fired for good. They never could make up there minds you could get off moving equipment then you couldn’t now it’s back to you can again. Had a engineer that was fired for lying and past stop signal when he was left in B the conductor run the train a few seconds by time he caught it and dispatcher started hollering he said he had stopped lied about it then shoved back in the blind switch had been moved by the dispatcher for Amtrak he cased 4 cars to derail lost the coal and tied up Amtrak but they said he was fired he was offf 5 years and when I was taking training in Atlanta he showed up for a few weeks to run the simulator then he was back in to running again
