I just dug out my old Salomon skates, serviced the bearings and took a ride. They're in pretty rough shape but memories from my youth in the 1990s with a pair of original Lightnings came flooding back. I really miss it and I think a new pair would be great fun. Also need to do something about this gut I didn't have back then.

I have just tried them on my first ride. They feel amazing compared to my previous soft boot skates. The issue for my is quite big pronation and these manage to be comfortable enough. I need few more rides to break the liner and for my feet to get used to new stuff. For now they gave me hope to skate comfortably.

They changed the shock absorber on the Lightnings. The ones on the Twister Edge have notches that can break, happened already on one of my pairs.

I think that rubbery feeling ratchet buckle thingy is because there is no buckle protection. With that soft plastic it will bend/absorbs with the fall and get back in the normal position and don’t break off or bend in a way so you have to replace it.

My feet are 274mm and 110mm width, was looking at RB80 first but the lightning 90 look so great, nice coloring. Is the width comparable between these models and what size would you recommend since I seem to be between sizes with this model?

Thank you for reviewing the lightning series. Currently, I have the Rollerblade RB Pro X. The length is perfect, but it’s very tight around my inner ankle bone, causing a pressure point while skating. I think the tongue of the liner is pressing against my ankle. How is the fit of the Lightning 90 around the ankles? Specifically on the inside?

The skates you said were the same look different but it might be because they are different sizes. The straps were closer on one and the angle and length of the liner cuff at the front looks different although it’s hard to compare with the camera moving so quickly and not holding for a clear comparison. It may not be as different as other skates but it does seem like there is a difference, whether it’s apreciable or not is another question.

I love my Lightning 90s. The Hydrogen wheels really make a difference compared to Supreme wheels. I like that its not as tight as the Twisters. Just my preference.

Do you have grey and gold one's mate? what are they like to skate on agility/comfort/speed etc, also does your foot feel planted in the boot as in held/supported well?

I bought the 90mm version, then bought an FR2-3x 110mm frame and i really enjoy it. I would have bought the Lightning 110 if they weren't white lol, no way i'm buying white skates.

Anyone have thoughts.. I’m about to try out a pair of the lightning 05 skates instead of traditional Bauer or ccm roller skates. Quick turning and stopping might be the only difference but for speed they’re probably better than roller hockey skates

​@@LocoSkates I done a bit of research on your site etc and it says with the FR you have to size up and I'm a size UK 12 as is so I'm not able to get the orange FR's which is a shame as they're the one's I wanted, seems it's a choice between the Lightening 80 and 90 now lol, shame they don't do the 80's in the white and blue for men they're gorgeous but the others seem nice

I think they are the best quality Carbon Freestyle boot for a low relative price. If I was going to buy a carbon freestyle boot I'd get the Crossfire.

@@samuelsg27 I initially got powerslide then FX neither fit normally like the RB Twister XT which fit spot on for size. Great boots and fittings on them too. Really impressed with mine and love skating them. If you are debating getting them then just go for it. Yes they are slightly more expensive. But what you get for that extra money works out so much cheaper than if you were to upgrade a cheaper skate. Hope this all helps! Blessings from England

RB makes good skates, but RB spare parts are so expensive to replace. Why in the world would you make a buckle system that will cost you 20 bucks or more to replace? Try finding toe sliders for RB. Might as well go fishing in swimming pool. Good product. Bad spare parts price and stock.

Try the Seba CJ. It’s a soft boot but very stiff.

RB macroblades are a great soft boot / fitness model in my opinion.
