Kibbe's world and the kibbe comunity is one of those little niche corners on the internet filled with great content and great people sometimes...and some extremely dogmatic people on the other. I do like and follow some of kibbes recomendations, but some people get SO caught up on it, you might feel trapped. Some of the best kibbe content on youtube is made by AlyArt and Merriam's Style: she had a real-life people series were she typed her subscribers. I think the height thing really screws people over and is where people tend to get the most dogmatic. I remember one of these bloggers said that we should “dress for your face” which was extremely interesting to me. She used Brienne of Tarth (from GOT, I don’t remember her real name lol) as an example: she actually has a really cutesy “ingenue” face and the opposite body-very dramatic. She showed pictures of her wearing dramatic vs soft/yin clothes and she looked way better in softer yin styles despite her height! 🤷♀️
@quillpen8154 жыл бұрын
@@jessierasberry3082 I agree about the height thing. People just don't understand proportions in context of one's body and comparitive features that puts someone in a specific category. Height is actually the least important requirement for typing but it's the one people are most hung up on because it is a quantifiable piece of information. The other requirements are something you can convince yourself you may or may not have unless you were strictly objective about it.

Something I've learned about Kibbe types is we shouldn't get bogged down in details and the quiz isn't very good for finding one's own type. It's good for understanding what is meant by "sharp", "blunt", "rounded", and etc. though. My advice would be to first look at the overall body and ask what you see first. When looking at the video provided, my first impression is tallness and width-width of the bones, that is. (You of course have some softness because you are a woman and we all have some softness. It's not the main focus though, I wouldn't say.) I think you are a lovely and elegant flamboyant natural. A channel called "Style thoughts by Rita" does a very good job at going into the flamboyant natural type, as well as others. "Aly Art" is also a very good channel to reference. "Merriam Style" doesn't really follow Kibbe, rather she has her own system based upon Kibbe with some very key differences. I also recommend the blog "you and me and cup of coffee". There is also the Strictly Kibbe facebook group. I give these recommendations because there is a lot of misinformation on the system out there.

I would have guessed you as soft natural - the jaw shape says natural for me but the softness of the features is towards romantic. Gamines look more boyish/adolescent imo, especially in the body which I don't think you are. Edit: a very good tell is the clothing type which suits you best... If you can wear an oversized jumper with tousled hair and look fabulous (rather than scruffy) you're likely a natural of some sort, if you can wear very extra outfits with frills and ornate jewelry and look great (rather than fancy dress costume) you're likely TR, and if cropped, neat, boyish clothes look good on you you're more likely to be a gamine. This helped me a lot as my best outfits confirmed I'm a soft classic when I had my doubts between a few types .

Just a heads up - and there is some argument here amongst people on the internet - but David Kibbe has said people at your height automatically have a tall vertical line and can only fit in to the Dramatic, Natural, or possibly Classic categories. A lot of people end up in gamine (myself previously included) because it can be hard to see oneself accurately and it becomes sort of the catch all category.

I was just going to say this! According to Kibbe, tall women are usually flamboyant natural, soft dramatic, or dramatic. He recommends various exercises -- such as the line exercise -- that may be more helpful than the test. The test doesn't work accurately for many people, including tall people. It may help to first determine a general yin/yang leaning to narrow down types before delving deep. Source: I am a soft dramatic who thought I was some sort of gamine because of the test!

Yay you did a Kibbe video!! I think you're a soft natural :) if you google 'soft natural tapatalk' you'll find the exact description as copied from the book, I think it describes you really well. Kibbe is much more about learning to read the yin/yang balance in your body than counting test answers, and he himself doesn't recommend the test any more. I think your shoulders are more blunt/bevelled than rounded, and your bone structure looks softly yang with yin flesh. You also don't look short to me, definitely not enough to have a short vertical line (necessary for gamine type). I think that relaxed lines and draping with waist emphasis (a belt or something) would look great on you. Also, the face is not really taken into account in modern Kibbe (how he applies his theory himself these days). A LOT of your yin answers come from your face, and even though it's definitely super important to consider your face in your overall look/style, your face doesn't actually affect how clothes physically hang on your body, if you see what I mean! I would really recommend looking at the r/kibbe subreddit for more, it's a very helpful environment :D

Yes, most people mistype by concentrating too much on the face. Most women have a lot of yin in their face even if they are a yang type. I’m always so shocked at who Kibbe types as a yang type because I usually concentrate heavily on the face and I forget that’s just a small percentage of the overall body.

kshiftkometh Kibbe says that celebrities often exaggerate their heights and that if he were to meet them in person and they were actually that tall, he would just move them to the correct category. He seems to put a lot of emphasis on the height restrictions so I doubt he’ll be adjusting them anytime soon. But I wonder why there is so much resistance to being yang though? I never see anyone complaining about only being able to be in the yin category due to being too short and rounded but being yang seems so controversial? 🤔 I’m just curious as to why that is.

I went into a KZbin hole with this a good few months back and found I was flipping between soft dramatic and soft natural, and then also the middle classic one, anyway-I wanted to be soft dramatic haha but then what helped me see I was actually soft natural was when I watched allys video about the hairstyles. I remember being a slightly emo teenager and wanting to get a haircut with a heavy Razor fringe like my friends with lovely thick hair were doing-but for some reason on me I just couldn't get the same effect when for them it seemed so effortless, I went to the hairdressers a good few times but I just came out looking the same or just looked alot better with a plain haircut, it didn't give me the same effect as my friends had . When I heard ally explaining different body types carrying different hairstyles it made sense. When she gave examples I really identified with what she said about scarlett johansson, pretty much on every single one, and so something that gets me a little bit-is seeing someone's style I like and thinking yeah that feels like me, but then in reality it just doesn't quite look as flattering as I'd imagined. I looked at a few of johanssons general looks and it reminded me of styles I've tried, I had similar critiques for how certain clothes looked on her as they did for myself (sorry scarlett!) (e.g. I love how leather jackets look on people, but for me they just look kind of awkward and like the cut is not right as ally would say 'separate' and I saw on scarlett they felt the same to me) - and ones I liked or disliked seemed to be similar in her, then I think I searched recommended styling for my body type on Pinterest got the jist of the type of new silhouette and went shopping trying on this kind of silhouette but in a style/colour of clothing I liked, and I felt like it was alot more flattering-like it was nice to be like oh yeeeaaahh... Of course that's why I wasn't getting the desired look, because my body is just different from what I was trying to achieve. Anyway it's nice to kind of accept that and appreciate it for what it is.... Hope this long arse description of my journey helps abit, basically comparing how you have felt in things you new didn't quite suit you or definitely do suit you, and then seeing if you feel the same about celebs in your category-I know you say you don't know how to, but if you have a particular thing that you're like-no this doesn't work, maybe that can be a starting point, for me it was my haircuts

@Loepise great video. If you want to know your body ID I would look further in Kibbe work. Kibbe is still very active with his work no longer uses the quiz, the book was written in 1987. Also the kibbe description he gives for the SG and FG are different from what you have learned on KZbin. SG are short, narrow in body, a little board, compact ( the curves are tight) with a mix of opposite all over the place. You don't look SG or FG at all. When you see a G ID you know straight away! The previous outfits videos show how you are not a SG. Look into SC if you think you are curvy etc. Having large eyes does not equal SG. Alot of people have gone into the group thinking what they learnt on KZbin is true only to realise they are different from what they learnt. Kibbe wife is a TR. Short, trim, slight yang, curvy with some slight sharp face features and face. He also states that TR, R, SG will be under 5'4 in his system. The Gamine and Romantic family are small and they look small in real life. Although not all short people with be yin. Sarah Jessica Parker is a FN. If you interested 're learn the system.

Typing oneself is ridiculously difficult, I've discovered, as I've taken and re-taken the test 6-7 times! My results have varied between soft classic, theatrical romantic, soft gamine, and romantic, but after a whole year of researching Kibbe I've finally concluded that I'm (probably) soft gamine. To me you don't look that short, actually, I'd say your vertical line is answer C. In fact, I think you have a lot more C in you than you think. I too have a very rounded, baby-like face, which caused me to think I have more E answers in my facial features than I actually have. I think you might be making the same mistake here. I feel like people with ingenue essence, which you have, instinctively get typed as soft gamine as we tend to associate the "child-like" appearance with that type. Merriam Style has a great video on this! If I was you I'd consider soft classic (you remind me a bit of Marion Cotillard who is a soft classic), possibly soft natural or flamboyant gamine (you do have that Audrey Hepburn vibe). Also, watching your 'Trying on all my clothes' video, I couldn't tell if you look better in relaxed, loose, boho-style clothing or more fitted pieces (So typical of classics to look good in everything, you lucky bastards!). If anything, your best outfits were the basic ones with clean lines that let your inherent beauty be in the spotlight. So definitely look into the soft classic body type! What ultimately helped me find my type was to stop focusing on the test and just try on the types' different lines, silhouettes, textures and makeup. That way I could /see/ what worked for me and not. But then again, I'm no expert. Just excited to share my thoughts ^^ Always had a feeling you were into Kibbe and was basically waiting for you to make this video haha!

I have been researching this system for months now cause I find it so interesting! The test isn't recommended anymore, as it makes it seem like for example the size of your hands/feet are as important as your vertical line, which isn't true. At your height, if you follow Kibbe strictly, you can only be Dramatic, Soft Dramatic, Flamboyant Natural or Dramatic classic. If you're interested I'd check out the Kibbe subreddit, it's very helpful. I personally don't see gamine at all in you, as you don't look short and compact which is the most striking feature of gamines, to me you look very Dramatic Classic. But in the end only you can decide your type!
@nicolesmith43714 жыл бұрын
I figured you were a flamboyant gamine. But it’s hard to tell through a screen. A lot of the answers you put as soft and rounded I did not see. Your chest and arms and legs for example. I don’t see very much flesh or roundness in those areas. Also a soft gamine usually won’t be 5’8. You do have a shorter line but you still have actual physical length which is a yang trait. Soft gamines must appear short and you don’t appear short to me, you appear moderate. I believe there is a little more wiggle room with height for flamboyant gamines however. Audrey Hepburn, for instance is a tall flamboyant gamine.

I wouldn't think she's a TR at all though, her body has way too yang for a romantic type.

Lucy, you are definitely not a soft gamine. The quiz needs to take into account how tall you look, as well as how tall you actually are. And gamines' structure is very different, their limbs are shorter, and their bones are smaller. Ally Art's quiz is my favourite, it really helped me find and understand my body type. It's extensive enough to be accurate, but also simple to understand (the pictures really helped me) I don't know if this will help, but lots of love from me ❤️❤️❤️

So the thing with Kibbe is that it's better not to read the book or anything written on the Internet, and never ever take any tests. Ever. Just join Strictly Kibbe on Facebook, where David himself writes. His theory is hugely misunderstood on the Internet, I've actually never seen anyone outside of the FB group getting it right! It's not about any types, too, he personally hates this name. It's more about looking at your own lines, shapes, as they truly are, not "square", "round" or whatever, and wearing clothes that repeat the same lines. I'd say number one most important thing with Kibbe is your bone structure as a whole. When you read what he writes it all becomes incredibly easy and helpful when buying clothes or doing makeup, and it's a guide that has never failed me :)

I’d say the exact opposite. The Facebook group is weirdly cultish and his writing style... borders on ... incomprehensible... Have fun on the internet in places that are open to discussion and debate instead of places that don’t allow questioning. We can all repeat the lines of our own bodies without consulting a 70 year old man who really hasn’t kept up with modern fashion at all.

A quick scroll through the comments kinda illustrates how difficult it is to find the right type for many people. I think every type has been mentioned apart from Romantic :P I can't wait for the follow up video! :) I think the best way to determine what you actually are is to try to style yourself according to the type rules. I tried to identify myself a couple of times, I did the very test from Cozy Rebekah a few months ago, I know Aly Art and Merriam (I find her videos the most helpful - and her colour analysis method is great too!), I thought I was a SG as well but a few style recommendations went directly against what I had figured out myself looked good on me ;) Then someone pointed out the Natural family to me, which I hadn't considered at all because I'm petite. But I looked up the recommendations and Soft Natural really resonated with me. I also remembered how people would sometimes exclaim how small I was, especially when I was a teenager - so probably I look taller than I am and that would be OK for SN. I look good in Classic too, though. (My first test result was actually SC, but just like with SG it wasn't fully it). So am I a SN? Probably. And this degree of probability is satisfactory for me. Now I can go back to wearing what I want ;) Edit: I just wanted to add that I was surprised by no C answers on your side. I probably got SC at first because I was so unsure how to describe my shapes that I kept picking the middle ground. But I'd say your shoulders are C. I think they look very balanced with regard to the rest of your body.

My dear, nothing about you is wide bar your pretty round face and eyes! I have looked at this system before and find it as confusing as you do. As someone who has always been short and round all over, whether slimmer or in midlife, I'm not sure you see yourself objectively (but then, who does, we all have our hangups - I'm amazed by the things my taller, slimmer friends criticise in themselves!!). I certainly don't think your head is large, you have a small face, too, even if it is round, have you considered your hat size? "Normal" is 57 cm-ish. I take a 58 and my mom, who is only a cm taller than me a 59, we are like Shetland ponies, robust-looking! Also look at your wrists. My friend is the same height as me but her wrists are tiny and she is petite (I wish!) whereas I have 7"/17.75 cm wrists like someone who is 6 ft/182 cm tall... You are slightly taller than average but the overall impression you make is a dainty one, soft, slender are good words to describe you, and you are a more athletic build than someone who is round or wide, I think. I too would probably be surprised at your height in real life (one of my daughters is your height to my 157 cm!) but after all, soft gamine doesn't sound too wrong as a description... Whatever the quiz, I think you have a very well-balanced body shape. I will have to re-consult the quiz LOL (ps your high hip reminds to ask if you have heard of the different descriptions for hourglass figures as being X or 8, 8 is the one with the high hip, ask me how I know ;))
@MsAdlerHolmes4 жыл бұрын
It's less about measurements and more about proportions and the "visual weight". So, for example, my daughter and I both have broad shoulders but her bones are what is referred to as "bevelled" or "blunt", where as mine are sharp. We both have curves but hers are gentler and mine more severe, extreme. Her face is cuter, mine harsher. We look similar, but those slight differences in proportion set us quite apart. Additionally, when I stand next to my mum and sister (both dramatic classics, balanced, slightly sharp features), I look like a giant, even though my mum and I wear the same clothing size.
@thaiseathaydesantos4 жыл бұрын
@@MsAdlerHolmes I have the same thing of looking a lot like my mother, but the different body types set us completely apart, even in face features. I always looked younger, people still think I'm in my early 20's, but I'm 31, my mother was the opposite, she looked like a full grown woman since puberty. I'm a romantic type, I think, all rounded features, rounded body, hourglass figure even when overweight, I think my mother is a natural type, I know there is more than one, but I didn't quite figure it out. She looks taller (we are the same height), never had an hourglass figure, her body was straight and muscular when young, now, older and after menopause, she gained weight, only in the torso, her arms and legs are still very straight. Her face is slightly sharper than mine. We are now the same weight (around 30 pounds overweight) and the same height, but I carry more of my weight in my arms and legs, still have an hourglass figure with rounded arms. In the past I got to 220 pounds due to a hormonal issue, and even that overweight (I'm 1,62m) I somehow still had a bit of the hourglass shape, my waist was smaller than my mother's who was a lot thinner than me.

Lucy I have been wanting you to do this for ages! I have mentioned in a few comment sections that I have seen you as a Soft Gamine since your Style Evolution video last year, based on your most flattering outfits from that (and how well you wear Brigitte Bardot inspired looks, she's an ICONIC SG!) BUT... My jaw DROPPED when you said you are 5'8". GIRL. Your essence is SHORT and SG AF but under the strict Kibbe system you can ONLY be pure D, SD, or FN because you are so tall! SG's heights are officially capped at 5'4"! There are some key differences between 1980s Metamorphosis Kibbe (which Aly Art teaches), Merriam Style (who now calls her system Body Geometry because it's so divergent from DK's work), and "modern Kibbe", which is what DK himself teaches in his Facebook groups and when you are typed by him in person. Basically modern Kibbe uses only 10 Image IDs (pure N, C, and G are no more), does NOT use or recommend the typing quiz, and basically disregards one's facial features since "you don't wear clothes on your face". This means that Merriam Style would type you as a Soft Gamine, but I think DK would type you as a Flamboyant Natural or Soft Dramatic! I know, it's crazy. The best example of this phenomenon is Taylor Swift-gate, when Merriam typed her as a pure Gamine (based on her essence i.e. her face) and all hell broke loose in the community. She's a DK verified pure D. Her body is pure D. But her face has a lot of yin and she looks cute in G looks, there's no denying! Basically you have the choice to dress as a Kibbe FN/SD, or a Body Geometry "Softened Mixed" type (Merriam's Soft Gamine), or dress more FN/SD and do more SG hair and makeup, etc. It's up to you! I HIGHLY recommend the r/Kibbe subreddit to you and anyone else interested in the system (the preferred term rather than "theory", FYI! :) ). It's a great, supportive community and there's tons of awesome "scholarship" being done on this topic, it's the best resource online once you've watched Aly's videos and want to start actually engaging with the system! (Word of warning/encouragement, we're already talking about you! If you came and lurk you will get a wide variety of input from commentators who are already well versed in the ins and outs of the system.) hi there, i’m a recent subscriber! i really like the kibbe body types test and i think you did a good job taking this test. i think you’re definitely a soft gamine as opposed to a theatrical romantic, the difference is mostly in bone structure. gamines will have a mixed bone structure, meaning the length and build of bones changes frequently as you move down the skeleton. this could mean long arms and legs and a short torso, or long hands and teeny feet; it truly could mean a lot of things when it comes to gamines. while theatrical romantics will have some sharpness/yang in their bones as well, it is notably fewer; they definitely still belong in the romantic/rounded bone structure camp. soft gamine bone structure and features have a lot of variety and movement with a yin leaning; theatrical romantics are rounded types with a sprinkling of sharpness. i hope that helps and would love to see you in some soft gamine outfits! i tend to see a lot of SG lines in vintage clothing (:
@ahouseoffigs4 жыл бұрын
Great idea for a video! I think you have a very good sense of what you look like overall, but I think your yin/yang balance is more unique than you might realize. For instance, even though you have very round answer E eyes, you have a strong contrast in your eye color/skin color and your brows are quite yang leaning because of their definition & overall presence, also your nose is a combination of straight and round lines. So, the quiz gives a good overview of your features, but it doesn't even touch the smaller more subtle characteristics that may be more yin or yang. This may explain why you don't like to wear frilly/puffy yin leaning lines, they contrast with some of your subtle yang features. Soft gamine lines with a more yang essence or soft natural would work well on you. I think your height does make it more likely for you to be flattered by soft natural lines, simply because you have a more yang physical presence than a soft gamine. But you could blend the two styles to accommodate you individually, taking aspects of both and tailoring it to suit you, and working with your seasonal color palette as well. Personal style is an ever evolving process, one that is fascinating and so addictive!

I think having all black on actually would make it more difficult for you to judge. I would have gone with a nude legging/cami/socks. But, I know that can be uncomfortable to have for a video, so maybe like a dusty/ballet pink would be be a better option for a video. It's just that darker colours automatically trick your eye into making it look slimmer, and white tricks your eye into making you seem wider. So something more flesh coloured would be ideal.

I think the main thing about learning your body type and what suits it is kind of like learning how to draw. Once you get the fundamentals down, you can start to manipulate what you know to fit your personal style and signature. I feel like you have some pretty distinctly dramatic undercurrents in your body with a very gamine face. IMO flamboyant gamine or just gamine comes to mind more than soft gamine. The angles in your body look sharp but long even tho over all you appear shorter than you are. You do have very lovely waist definition which is a romantic feature for sure! All that aside, you have very pretty features! My eyes just kept falling to your hands they're so slender and move so gently! :D It's hard to be objective. A friend and I each did the test for the other because we thought it would be the most objective lol.

I think you're a Soft Dramatic but I'd also consider Dramatic Classic. Many of your B answers should be A IMO (I see sharpness more than bluntness), and you're too tall to be a Gamine or Romantic in the strict Kibbe rules. I suggest someone close to you, maybe Robert, take the test on your behalf too. I wouldn't focus that much on your face since Kibbe doesn't even consider it anymore. I was originally mistyped as a Soft Gamine because of my face (I look good with short hair and have a baby face) but my body, which is stronger and long, is definitely Flamboyant Natural. I think it's helpful to consider what you need to accommodate when you're shopping. Do you need to alter clothes to accommodate certain features? As an FN, I often struggle with the shoulder area in tops and thighs in pants (too tight, from Natural width and muscularity) and sleeve/pant length (too short, from Dramatic length).
@lauraweichman71154 жыл бұрын
Your height doesn't matter when it comes to body type. Short people can be true Dramatics and tall people can be true Romantics as well. It's all about how tall/short you and your bones appear to be.
@emschlef4 жыл бұрын
@@lauraweichman7115 It does matter in the strict Kibbe system, which I mentioned in my previous comment. I agree short people can be pure Dramatics because there are not height requirements in the system, only limitations. I know it because at 5'5.5" I'm just above average height and am a Flamboyant Natural, one of the "tall" types. I believe the rationale is that the defining feature of someone tall is at least in part their height, which is yang. In Dramatics you see length, Flamboyant Naturals length and width, and Soft Dramatics length and curve. I resisted this idea at first, but when I stopped looking at faces and just looked at bodies it became clear that it makes sense. I know there's been debate about Taylor Swift as a Gamine or Dramatic, but if you look at just her body it's obvious the latter is the correct type.

I’m about 10 minutes in and getting a little perturbed at your answers. I disagree with almost all of them. I think you are seeing yourself much more “wide” than most people would. You appear very tall (nearly as tall as the door, most of which are above or around 6ft), so while I do agree with you saying your limbs are long they are certainly not wide. I would describe you as tall, and fairly slender. Especially the portion about your ribcage, very much not wide! I was astounded that you were so sure of that answer. I’m not sure if you’re working off of reference pictures for this test and maybe that’s where you’re getting your answers, but to be fair I’ve never heard of this test before so I’m not very objective. And this is certainly not to say that being “wide” is a bad thing, I just don’t know that you’re able to see yourself accurately.
@wolftownesque4 жыл бұрын
You need the chill pill. I think this test fails to consider cultural opinions. She seems European so I assume thin women are more common. I’m american and over here she is nowhere near any concept of wide in terms of her body. I think her face is the widest thing about her. Her body is tall and slender, long limbed, very regal looking. Also her shoulders are not broad or wide at all, they flow down very softly. Like when you look at her she does not look muscular or athletic at all, very soft and thin. This test isn’t the most accurate since style changes within cultures and countries.

I became interested in kibbe body types and oh... it is so complicated. I think images would serve a lot better for comparing yourself to others, as it is often the case you dont know if something is "round" or "elongated" or whatever. For me, the most useful thing is to try different styles and check yourself out and what you find you are most drawn towards would help label you in the system.
@sophiejohn27314 жыл бұрын
I thought the same - that's not the way to knowing. As you pointed out you can't tell what is rounded or elongated, because you looking at it with the 'clothes situation '. But in reality you do know - Look at yourself in the mirror ( pictures distort images). The clue is in the body structure and height. All combined with the shapes on the face features.

One of the best Kibbe Body Typing blogs I recommend is by Truth is Beauty. It has a style calculator which you can purchase and it's very precise if you have a trained eye for optical illusions. The thing is quizzes can be very subjective, especially when you really think you're VERY (characteristic), or you want to be considered a particular (feature) because of the influence of society (something I was influenced by in the past). Interestingly, the blogger focuses mainly on your face, not your body. I thought I had some classic and romantic essence in me before I found her blog, because of my body... but according to her style calculator, my face is 100% classic. When trying out dresses, I would look and feel weird in dresses with a romantic essence but feel so good in 100% classic dresses.

I got this with 5 A's as well If you got mostly ‘D’ answers, or a combination of ‘E’ and ‘D’ with up to 4 ‘A’ + ‘B’ answers in body or facial bones, then you have the theatrical romantic body type. Your body is made up of soft and rounded lines, however you also have some added angularity in your bone structure or facial features. You also tend to be more narrow than the romantic. If you work out a lot your muscles are softly defined rather than quite sharp. When you gain weight your body becomes very rounded and soft, however you will still maintain a defined figure if you’re an hourglass shape.
@milica89794 жыл бұрын
Hi, Loepsie! I may be completely wrong, but I think you gave yourself too many yin answers because you have very soft flesh, which makes everything look rounded on your body. When I look at you, my main impression is that your bones are consistently long and wide. Also, I think your vertical line is moderate, not short (I guessed your height approximately correctly). My guess would actually be that you are a Soft Natural. Look at some photos of Aishwarya Rai -- your body, and especially your face reminds me a lot of hers. She is a Merriam-verified Soft Natural. Another sign to me is that I feel like constricting cuts with high necklines and fitted cuffs would look slightly awkward on you, I'd rather see you in something more loose.

@milica89794 жыл бұрын
@@nicolesmith4371 They're not fundamentally different though: she just changed the names of the types, assigned less importance to the softness of the flesh, and noticed that height isn't always consistent with the vertical line, making it possible (though rare) to be a tall Romantic/Gamine or a short Dramatic/Natural. Essentially, it's Kibbe's system with slightly rearranged priorities, that's how I would describe it.

I think I'm a soft classic but also a lot of the features are visualized on people slimmer than me (I'm not plus-sized, but I do have some extra padding, so I feel like that muddies my perception of things). Lemme see if the test you do classifies me somewhere 😂

I would have thought flamboyant gamine or soft natural but I think I'd have to see you in the styles of those types before getting certain

I like the system a lot, however it is very confusing! After month long research, I've come to the conclusion I'm TR, which makes a lot of sense for me and it has helped me dress better and look better, because I always liked more "natural type" clothing, which hung off me in the most unflattering way. One thing most people don't understand is that its more about the shape than anything else; I have a somewhat androgynous style-- not very feminine like my body type-- and so I thought I couldn't wear my leather jackets and mom jeans anymore, however, I learnt that you can wear whatever as long as it fits your shape. basically I bought shorter and more accurate jackets rather than big and baggy, and even my jeans got shorter and a little more precise (straight jeans rather than baggy mom jeans are fitting). I do find the makeup style looks FAR better on my than any other, and since my accessories and shoes and clothes became smaller and more accurate/fitted, I look good and I don't look like a little girl in adult clothing. So yeah, it takes a long time to actually get a hang of it, but it is quite helpful imo.

Yes! This is what the system is about! Finding your own unique image ID. Just because you are a certain “type” does not mean you are relegated to one style... it’s about adjust your own style to fit your body in a flattering way. That is why Kibbe does not like to assign specific pieces to specific bodies but rather work with silhouette and fabric. Shape is more important than stereotypes

what matters is not the number of E's A's etc but where they are. those in your bones structure (body bones and facial bones) are going to determine the big family, like dramatic, natural, classic, gamines, romantic and the flesh (flesh and facial features) will help you see where you fall when it comes to subtypes as soft dramatic, flamboyant gamine etc. I don't think your vertical line is short but more moderate, with long arms and legs and long hands and feet I also feel like you have some width but some softness in your flesh and facial features so I would say Soft natural and not soft gamine. a Gamine and especially a soft gamine will have some shorter looking bones compared to the rest of the body. You surely have a youthfull appearance in your face but your bones structure is on the longer side imo.

interesting.. interesting... that might help me solve my problem of having a pear shape bust-hips but diamond shoulder-hips... it really makes me confused about my body type

Widely spaced and not very prominent matches your bust better imo. Most other stuff all seemed right to me though. I would say large and soft for mine, too, so it makes me wonder how accurately I really see my body. It’s so weird how we can’t judge ourselves like we can judge others...

I would be interested in a video on how to style clothes with hipdips. I have them myself and I find it hard to style my clothes so it looks flattering. I loved the video ♥

Did you try comparing yourself to the Kibbe-approved celebrities for each category? Or mostly soft gamine/theatrical romantic (although I believe your bone structure to be too yang to be any sort of romantic but I don't know you in person) also maybe try for soft natural celebrities, as Brigitte Bardot was typed into that category despite having some gamine features (which made her able to look great in both styles so kudos to her)

I've spent so much time researching Kibbe body types and I'm sure you're soft gamine, good job seeing yourself objectively, I can't figure out my own type😆 . Ally art have great videos about this subject

I love the concept of Kibbe but WOW I really cannot figure out what my body type it according to this - I am a rectangle with a relatively large bust and not butt. I really wish I could figure out which my type was!
