The biggest advantage with the fireplace being inside is that the chimney is always warm and provides a natural draft! Looks great, enjoy your videos.

You are truly an amazing craftsman. Love the cabin! I've always wanted to live in an old cabin, but unfortunately have not been able to. I collect primitive antiques and put them in my 1833 farmhouse. My farmhouse is in wonderful shape, it's just beautiful! I have a fireplace in my kitchen! So though I don't have the primitive cabin of my dreams, I do have a wonderful home for my primitives! You are an awesome guy, Jerry..Great job!

Shelly, you live in the house that the settlers built while they were living in a primitive cabin for the first couple years. Somewhere near your house is the cellar hole where once that cabin stood. I guarantee it. I'd take an early 19th century house over this cheesy 1960 place I'm in now any day of the week.

Howdy brother- mighty fine job with your cabin. I always put a secondary roof on for the insulation. You really can’t tell there is another roof over the principal roof. Take care and God bless

Many early fireplaces had an iron rod installed as to hang trammels to raise and lower cooking pots for summer verses winter fire burning.

I truly believe in ghosts or spirits or whatever they are. Our house is from the 1890's and we have 1. We have photographed it, so have friends and relatives. Creepy, weird. we're all nuts, just keep your finger on the camera button and don't say we didn't warn you. It came with the house.

Logs are a better insulator than insulation is. I did put insulation between the logs behind the chinking. And in the roof
