I've been watching the newer videos and just went back and watched the log home build too, great videos! You guys get bonus points for having that much Rotel in your pantry, looks like my supply 😆🤣

Looks like everything you have done is “Cooking with Gas” in the best possible sense. You Sir are the difference in a “spec” house for the masses and a truly functional lifelong home. Kudos.

Beautiful!!!! For me not enough shelves for the canning jars!!!! LOL I plan to hang my cast iron around the wood stove, but want pipe rods in hangers instead of pipe fittings. Love your videos, and everything you are doing makes me wish I was young enough to do it all again!!!

Since you are living in a farm ..having enough space you can just dry your cloths in sunlight during summers this will reduce electricity consumption

That's a really pretty pantry. Do you happen to know what kind of wood they're made of and what kind of finish? They're gorgeous.

How’s the barn comin along
@CountryViewAcres6 жыл бұрын
We got some fence posts in for the barnyard. It is slower going that I thought. Hopefully we have the time to get the rest of the posts in next weekend.

doesn't the tide soap smell get into your pantry items? I wouldn't store food in the same room as that kind of laundry soap, it's so strong smelling. Room looks great!
@CountryViewAcres5 жыл бұрын
There is no smell if Laundry soap. If you leave the door closed it can get humid from doing laundry. We leave the door open all the time.

I don't know if having a laundry room and a storage pantry all in the same room is a good idea. Laundry rooms can be humid because of the hot water washing and there are produce kept in the pantry that does not like warm humid air that can lead to molding. The pantry and the storage downstairs could have been organized together while the laundry and the mechanical room should have been situated together. Otherwise, your home build has been an amazing process for us to watch. I wish you put some effort for a rain catchment system for indoor use as rain water is generally safe to use and does not need softening, detoxifying or disinfecting and it's free. Great job folks and I pray that you don't return to debt trying to live the homestead lifestyle.

I have had that same comment before about the Landry room being humid. I am not sure if it is the newer washer and drier, or if I installed it better, but he room isn't humid at all. Maybe since the barn door doesn't seal of the room, helps it stay the same temperature as the rest of the house. But the laundry room isn't hot or humid at all, and is working great as a pantry. Our potatoes and carrots are stored in the basement, where it is colder. The pantry is mostly for canned goods. As for debt, it hard going from being debt free, to having a mortgage again. I can't wait for be debt free again. We will work hard to get there as fast as possible.

Looks really nice but, a good idea to have a pantry in the same room as the heat and humidity from the washer and dryer? Should be a cold room. Good luck with that.
