I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. LoGsounds insights have given me the tools to express myself on guitar like nothing else has. I encourage anyone looking to gain confidence on the guitar to become a patron. The amount of value you get out of $10-$15 a month is insane! I appreciate you LoG. Please keep the videos coming!

Holy smokes. After having watched mostly shorts of yours (and often having to replay them many times to grasp all of it), you left me amazed by your ability to concisely condense a large amount of information about (at least for my understanding) high level musical concepts into just a few seconds. Now after watching this I am speechless about how you are just equally able to break down and teach such concepts starting with all relevant details from the ground up in a pedagogically meaningful manner so that even the ones among us with very basic understanding can follow. Hats off and thank you!

Dude! i learn so much from you, your teaching approach and style is theoretical and analytical at the same time there are so many wonderful nuggets that you bring to the table and the way you break it down inverted chord shapes to melodies played over the chords. The options on the instrument have vastly opened up with ideas thank you so much you're a wealth of knowledge. Big Ups!

Enlighten as usual, with a strong pedagogical approach. I found the diminish arppegio the easy way to ad flavor and tension in phrasing for a casual player like me. I mean a intermediate guitar player without a strong theoretical knowledge. It can work with a lot of musical style (pop, blues, jazz, metal). First I knew the concept by @JackRuch who made some good videos about it on blues approch. I am so happy that you dig into this too. This made my day and probably my week of practice :) Thanks a lot. Cant wait for the part 2 xD

at 34:41 Is what Joe Satriani uses as a finger warmup exercises, He calls it smart fingers and is in his book called Guitar secrets.Been doing it for the last year and is very fun to hopscotch back and fourth with those chord figures because they all sound the same. I also love its related to the dominant 7th chord as well.
@LoGsounds Жыл бұрын
To put it simply, the dominant 7 chord that moves to a minor chord (the sound of a major 3 chord) is where diminished 7 comes from. I'll discuss it more in the future, but the two are interchangeable. When I use these diminished moves I consider them the same thing as that specific dominant.

First of all thank you so much, this was a concisely created lesson. You simplify the concept in terms understandable to most intermediate players. I have a question though. If we look diatonically the Bdim7 chord will contain notes B D F A, but here we are using notes B D F Ab. So if I am playing in major key can I use either of these chords interchangeably?
@LoGsounds Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! In regards to your question: Diatonically, diminished 7 chords do not exist. The chord that you describe, B D F A is crucially not a diminished 7 chord. This chord is called a "Minor 7 b5" or also known as a "half diminished". It is the naturally occurring chord built on the 7th note of a key, but is not the same as the diminished 7 chord we are discussing in these videos. The sound we are discussing (B D F Ab) is a sound built of notes all minor thirds apart like we discuss in the video. This is a different type of sound known as diminished 7 or in some circles a "fully diminished chord". In reality, this chord comes from the very popular transition chord known as a "5 of 6", which would be for example the E7 chord that transitions into an A minor. In regards to using them interchangeably, you can more or less do whatever your ear wants, just be aware that they are not the same sounds and will have different results. I'm going to get more into using these diminished 7 chords in chord progressions later on in the series. Hopefully that answers your question.
@abhaymlv Жыл бұрын
It does! Once again thank you so much for a detailed answer.. And I really loved the sound of dim7, till now I was not sure of its concept, but your reply made it crystal clear. Your lessons are really what I need at this point in my journey as a guitar player. Love and Respect
