I think 90% of us learned on some sorta 4700....they were GREAT trucks....I put a tad over 300,000 on the one I drove...the company hired a new driver and 4 weeks later it needed a clutch....

On towing a trailer, its combined weight rating, 10k trailer and a 26k truck is 36k so you need a cdl, does not matter what sort of braking system its a matter of total weight your truck and trailer can carry

I really like your truck build but it is really long. The problem is you ill really load the front and possibly break your truck in half.This would be a lot better truck if wheelbase was shorter but to each his own, just my two cents , good luck.
