Logan | Film Review

My first film review in a long while, but not my last for sure! Will hopefully be reviewing more movies as the year goes on - there are a TON of movies I care about being released this year, and I can't wait to talk about them more. I hope you guys liked this review and will look forward to the occasional movie talk on this channel!

Really good review Chris. I've seen all X-Men films at the cinema but for some reason missed both Wolverine films. I was more impressed by this than several of the latest X-men films. The directions they could take from this point are rather interesting to say the least. Whether they will is another matter as some of them would involve whole new character sets which I'd imagine movie studios are wary of.

I saw it this week. Loved it. To hear you say you were 9 when the 1st X-Men movie came out made me cringe just a little bit. Lol. I was 9 soooo long ago & have been a Wolverine fan since before then. Lol. Ive seen all of the Wolverine movies & this is the best of them by far! I'm personally not looking forward to reboots b/c who the hell but Hugh?! I think he perfectly portrayed Logan from start to finish. Moving on, I agree w/you about the flaunting of the R-rating. At first it was weird to hear Xavier curse b/c it's never happened before, in print (that I can remember) or film. This on-the-cusp-of-broken Logan was SO HARD TO WATCH! But done so well. I've had such a problem knowing that the movie & comic arcs were heading this way, and I still do, but now I might not start hyperventilating when (if) I decide to read the Old Man Logan arc. Then again, I may skip the whole thing & go to The New Wolverine. This was longer than intended. Lol

Interesting. I just saw it yesterday and I was really disappointed. Despite agreeing with everything you said about character development and acting, I was bored most of the time and not surprised to see Logan crumble. I think he's always been on the edge of being unable to handle things any longer. I personally don't like those last-adventure-of-an-aged-hero stories. I was already disappointed by the ridiculous story of the last movie and this just disappointed with not being a superhero movie but a full on character drama, and a boring one at that.
