This one has been in production for a little bit and I have to say, Horse and The Infant is up there in my top 3 favorite songs from EPIC entirely. It’s a BANGER start to the musical and is SO FUN TO SING?? I realized there aren’t too many covers from the earlier sagas and it was so great being able to work on this with such talented people! Thank you all again for your support with my role swap covers. This one may be my last for a while while I work on a few other videos, BUT keep an eye out for updates!

And to answer the questions I’ve been seeing, in my role swap AU, only Penelope and Odysseus are swapped!! I’m purposefully choosing songs that don’t make it too complicated story wise but feel free to swap whoever you wish to make it fit! The soldiers Penelope is leading consist of both men and women, thus why the calls in the beginning are the same :)

This is dope as fuck. I love how seamlessly swapping Penelope with Odysseus works. Same with brothers to comrades. Plus while I know it's just replacing a gendered word with a gender neutral one, I think comrades kinda sets Penelope apart from the rest of the army. She'd likely be one of very very few women fighting in the war and as Red from Overly Sarcastic Productions would say, Ancient Greece was cool about a lot of things, women were not one of them. Culturally this would color the way Odysseus and Penelope would be treated in the army and how they'd engage with the other soldiers. Odysseus being a man forms bonds of brotherhood in battle. Penelope doesn't get the same luxury. I know I'm wildly overthinking this but I think it's interesting what a simple word change can imply. I do think swapping out "wives" with "partners" feels a bit clunky swapping out one long drawling beat with two short sharp beats but I get why you did it. The swap from "sir" to "ma'am" I think has the opposite issue, sir is a harsher softer beat while ma'am is a softer one but again I get why you made the change, tho it's not uncommon for female officers to be called sir. As for your vocals, absolutely phenomenal. I really felt the pain in Penelope's voice when she was told to kill a baby. I also like how it's different from Jay's Odysseus. Jay's rendition sounds panicked and desperate. Yours sounds more pleading in despair. Gives Penelope more character I think. Anyway this was long your song slaps your singing rules would love to see more of this au

Ok but let's think of something else. In this AU, if the journey still ends up being named The Odyssey, that means Penelope named it after the person she was trying to go home to. Which has two implications: 1. Warrior Penelope is the sweetest wife ever 2. EVERY Odyssey from then on has to be named after the destination, not whoever takes it.
