Kurt Ault is an awesome logger, right down the street from me, funny to see that this video is of his crew, very nicely done, that heel boom is just an extension of his body!

Never understood the whole loader with no sawbuck deal! Loader has got a live heel on it though I like that. Saw man sure does trust that loader man

This is how it use to be before all these nice fancy loaders

@@mikejones5172 this video wasn't taken twenty years ago though buddy. I'm well aware of the days when a saw man cut up on the deck with a measuring stick and a crayon. But that 410ex isn't all that old

Yeah!! Good loader man!

Nice to see the loader man spread the tree's out for the chainsaw man. And he never swings them over his head! I've seen some crazy careless stuff on some of these video's!

That poor chaser. Every staub gets packed full of dirt just for him.I'll bet he has to sharpen or swap chains 4 times a day. ugh

Only need 18" bar& chain!! Guys sharpen way to much chain for limbing? WTF
@yearginclarke2 жыл бұрын
Depends on how tall you are and if you care about how bar length effects you while bending over all day. Sure, a shorter bar and smaller saw is lighter, and less work to file. But I prefer to keep the bending over at a minimum. I broke in 17 years ago running big saws/long bars, and they don't feel like extra work at all to me. 32'' is standard for me for landing work. I know how to avoid dulling my saw excessively, which really helps a guy avoid filing too much. I can make a landing chain last far, far longer than most guys I've seen because I'm not lazy about how I work. I really pay attention to what I'm cutting into, and cut dirty knots in such a way to avoid loose pebbles/sand. I've learned how to pay close attention to this while not letting it slow me down at the same time. Sometimes I rock a chain pretty good, but most of the time I don't need to do more than a minor touch up 2-3 times a day in dry conditions, or even less if I'm lucky. Which takes hardly any time to file. Last time I chased landing a couple of weeks back I didn't file my chain at all until my 3rd day of usage. And we were very busy with tons of knots each day. Muddy conditions require more filing, but also pay attention to what you're cutting into. If it's really bad, usually there's always enough time to wipe the worst of it off to avoid dulling your chain. And if it's really horrible, I just cut the least soiled part off and the mill is just gonna have to deal with the rest, or keep a dedicated saw with an old chain for those really dirty knots.

dang wasting time, sawing twigs on the depot, they must do that in the field when trees are cut, then no hold up on depot!
