He is just an example of someone whose sensitivity was a gift and a curse. He is way more in tune with the human struggle than most rap artists today. (Hip hop, in general, used to be that way). And he is as empathetic to humanity as it gets. He is emotional. He is affected by criticism. He does take things to heart. He is everything that most of us are as human beings. He is just open about all of these things in a genre that doesn't value or respect them. Most artists who have shown their sensitive side have had to temper it with a harder side to stay relevant. Logic is just a talented artist in a genre that has no respect for what he stands for. That part is not his fault.

I was a logic fan when he was dropping mixtapes. I liked his flow and beat selection and his freestyles sounded good, but then I realized how much he was trying to sound like Drake when Drake was really taking off. I noticed how all his freestyles sound the same. I noticed his rather basic and kinda predictable rhyme schemes. He's got flow and hes got his sound, but lacks originality in other areas. I hadn't heard he was biting K dot and j cole but I'm not surprised in the least bit. Xxxtentacion and Juice Wrld were just as sensitive but had way more originality.

“His sensitivity” he exploits people’s shit. His stupid ass suicide hotline song is so bad. He shows no understanding of mental health. It’s one of the dumbest songs I’ve ever heard. He may be sensitive but probably just an idiot trying too hard.
@ServinReal
@ServinReal 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I think we’ve all heard the saying, “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my ish”. I don’t think there’s any artist who isn’t affected by criticism even if they can hide it very well. There are people who are built for this tough and unforgiving industry and those who aren’t. We’ve seen Kanye rap for years about his critics and his insecurity. And yet Ye is still here moving forward (I hope mentally now still). Ye’s Netflix doc was an eye opener on how his own people were trying to keep him boxed in as a producer but he fought for himself to get out of that box. When you say, “genre that doesn’t value or respect them [the topics Logic discusses]”. Kendrick, Cole, and many others within the genre discuss the same topics he does (guilt, questioning identity, mental illness, suicide, etc.). I don’t think we should blame the genre. It’s certain peoples WITHIN the genre who’ve been shading Logic. But only Logic can control his actions and reactions. I feel for him because I’m an empath but like I said: not everyone is built for the music industry.

I don't think its "Hate" so much even around me we all know him, and the beats the songs for the most part are dope no lie Its the CONSTANT "I'm black"... "I'm black" its just weak and over done How many times you heard Eminem go on about how he is white and its so hard for him..he doesn't really ever... Again I think he good , its just the constant focus on him talking about his father and being black over and over even these "Critics" its the same thing "The man is dope but he goes on about the same thing" Logic has lyrics that are dope, but his stories are the same thing...song after song

The truth is a lot of us don't see him as great as you see him. His albums are okay not great and he's the biggest rapper that is known for complaining 🤷🏾‍♂️. We notice when he's not being authentic, we notice when he's being over the top trying to give a message, we notice when he's following trends. There's a lot of evidence to show why people consider him Corny. His come up story is the only thing he had for him that brought him the success and majority respect early on. He has been very consistently annoying and that's the problem. He needs to do something new and appealing. And he needs to improve his pen, he is not a great rapper, he is decent and is nowhere near the goat status he keeps trying to say he is in his songs.

Logic's newest album definitely was a good return and a good record it's sad to see it do so poorly commercially. Due to the fact that hip-hop is all about street rap and most of anything on that wave is what is surfing right now, it's hard to try and promote a boom bap style. In the future though, if Logic plays his cards right, he can gain a bit more respect if he can appeal more to the OG's while also being true to his style and not doing whatever is mainstream.

@@RCX_Sco1 People have just moved on from Logic and his public perception mixed with his recent albums (No Pressure excluded) have been bad. He still has a fanbase, he tours and they bought Vinyl Days but the average consumer who isn’t a diehard Logic fan has no incentive. NP sold well because people thought he was retiring so those who were former Logic fans tuned in for nostalgic purposes and a send off out of curiosity. Logic is my favourite rapper, and I will say that it is just a fact that his worst shit is still better than a lot of current rappers that don't get criticism for stealing/copying other people's stuff. Logic was heavily inspired by so many people, and while overused, I see no issue when he pays homage to other rappers and it wholesome and genuine about it. Rappers these days come up offering nothing of value and are loved and praised, but Logic who's nicer and makes better, more impactful music, isn't held to the same standards. He was heavily inspired by Kendrick and J. Cole, but not once listening to their stuff to I think "Ah yes, Logic took this" I just don't hear it. He references a lot of stuff. The Thalia thing definitely was an idea he was inspired by from Tribe. The Joyner thing is hilarious, because he even admitted that he was just envious of the dude and wanted to pick a fight, then got upset because Logic didn't respond by saying his name. He's been accused by so many of cheating on his first wife without there being any proof at all besides "timing". COADM was a social experiment, and always was one, he said it before it released, but of course only the fans who dig deep will know this, but so many people spread BS. But you really can tell the people who are fans from the people who don't take 5 minutes to look in to him and his shit, his whole Incredible True Story idea is super creative and unique, and a better fictional story than any other rapper has made, and his real life story of him growing up is told pretty well, not on the level of Kendrick through deep meaningful music, but Logic told it through good songs you can vibe through. People saying he's anything other than a genuine, good dude, who is inspired by his peers, loves hip-hop and his fans are just mad for the sake of being mad. The dude has his issues, there's gripes in there, but people always look for the wrong shit, or shit that seems like it's an issue but actually does have it's reasons. I'd be mad too if I thought the dude did bad shit, but he really doesn't.

@@sleepykaito4348 yes, commercially 2017-2019 was logics best commercial run, he was the most popular he was ever at that point and made the most money off of work he has put out in that era. However, what he is referring to is the lackluster reception from the fanbase that logic has created since 2010, of pretty much all of those releases. I mean keep in mind Supermarket was released on behalf on his book. I remember reading it and listen to the album as I read it. If anything, it only pertains to the book. It wasn't the best, yeah, but at the end I realized it was more of a soundtrack for his book. Bobby Tarantino lowkey had some bops in there. Everybody is a CONCEPT album that targets mental health. That was the main goal. If you didn't like it, it probably wasn't meant for you. It was meant for others who were depressed. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just simply stating that that album had a clear goal of helping everyone with their own battles and to say it sucks, kind of takes away from all the positive feedback from broken people. People that actually felt they could relate for once. To be honest, I haven't listened to as much Logic after he "retired". I treated COADM as a turn-up album and I just turned off the "Where's the old Logic" and just treated it as a regular album that the gen. pop listens to. Talking about money and b*tches and stuff. I still go back and listen to the older albums like U.P, or to the amazing intro of TITS and continue to listen to the rest, but I can't say I agree or disagree with either side. Logic is EASILY a top 10 hip-hop artist of his generation. He’s just a genuine guy who had the gift and the hard work to become a commercially successful rapper, all while staying true to himself. I love his relatability, and the fact his personality truly shines through his music. I feel like you truly get to know HIM, the guy behind the brand, allowing his fanbase to make a true connection with the art and the artist. I do see the inconsistency, as the tail-end of his projects with def-jam, excluding No Pressure, were sub-par. Being a fan of the guy for nearly a decade has me excited to see where he takes his career next, though I doubt he’ll ever be mainstream again. But being independent for College Park has me hopeful that we can expect a sound similar to that of his mixtapes, just more refined. Sorry for the long ass ramble, but damn man it just sucks to see how negative the general perception of Logic is.

The popularity is what killed logic. He has said it many times when he was writing songs he felt people couldn’t relate. It’s even in no pressure. What made logic amazing was the zero commercial appeal. I think him “retiring” wasn’t him retiring from rap. But I think as of “rap industry in the media” and showing he can still rap to the top of his game. Now that he has gone back to being an independent rapper. We have had phenomenal tracks ever since. BT3 was unfortunately a contract during DEF jams run and he has said that Bobby Tarantino three is a big joke multiple times and he just came out with something to satisfy the contract.

I've always loved Logic's life story. His parents neglected and abused him, his dad would steal his hard earned money to buy drugs. But he chose a different path. That's why his fellow rappers call him corny because his lyrics different, and because they'd rather him rap about drugs and s3ggs and gangs and crime like they do.

Ya know I'll say this. The work y'all put into these videos deserve nothing but flowers, BUT what I don't agree with is the thesis statement y'all ran with to then backup with these arguments( video evidence/statements). He killed his own rap career?? About halfway through I really thought y'all was gonna reel it in to a more positive note. But no. Look some of the stories highlighted in the video are new to me, but how does that back up 'he killed his rap career'. ALSO TO ACKNOWLEDGE ALL THOSE videos where they say he bit other greats their styles...COME ON NOW!! why give them their 10 seconds of Fame? Why?? It proves nothing, but that they be hating. Look I like the guy his music and can also think critically for myself and how some content is presented. I want to understand your point of view but I just can't. The corny rapper video is also a prime example. Great work on the video as always, but the question y'all try to answer is not it

I do agree that this video does have biases (mainly because they didn't talk about the beef being squashed with Joyner, Joe Budden apologized and Anthony Fantano interviewing him. However, the premise of the video is to shed light on what is detrimental to a person's rap career, the title of the video didn't lie. It is a fact that Logic praises and is heavily influenced by Kendrick and Cole music. A big Logic fan from the UK was listening to Kendrick for the first time and he replied saying. "This sounds like Logic" even though it's the other way around 🤦🏾‍♂️😂 The Hip Hop community BEEN talking about this for more than 10 seconds lol. He does these things to be relevant, which in many cases worked. Also J Cole told Logic to chill about the trying to prove himself because it's obvious he's consumed by it, especially being biracial and white passing. This is constructive criticism that can help others understand what not to do when it's their time to shine. I've been listening to Logic since 2012 and unfortunately I started to enjoy his music less once I began to sense he isn't as solid of a artist as he think he is.

Logic as a person and his music has gotten me through mental struggles that are indescribable in which I never thought I would overcome. His positivity, resilience, realness, passion, and talent alone should be admired. Despite the criticism, he still stayed true to himself and the messages he wanted the world to hear. He is a human being who actually cares about his fans and was normal to be affected by peoples' words. He went through so much just to shot with negativity over and over again, yet he still shows up. Yes he retired, but it was for his own sanity, and that is mature to step back when things are not healthy for you, especially the public eye. I will always cherish this music that taught me more about life than any human did. I will always have respect for Logic and his music. His music is unlike anyone else's and that is why people do not like him- his music tells stories, is conceptual, and is REAL. Way more real and shows high quality talent than any rapper today- not this mumble shit and words that do not make sense, I think he deserves much better. Thank you Logic, much love to you king.

Production wise and feature wis, it was exceptional. Logics verses were kind of middle of the pack, though, but he did have some really good verses every now and then like on "Therapy Session" that showed he can create quality verses when he puts his mind to it. Logic is one of those guys where just about everything outside of the writing is a 10, but then he'll fluctuate massively back and forth his writing. He's at his best when he sticks to purely descriptive writing.
