Guess I’m the minority but actually I love the new features. Makes it easy for me being a guitar player and laying down my ideas and using the session players to back me. And being logics first implantation of it I’m sure it will keep getting better with every update.

I’m on holiday at the moment so can’t check but from memory if you highlight your guitar track region and hit option/command/T then logic will write all your tempo changes automatically and also give you the option of choosing the average tempo etc thereby saving you doing it all manually and staying clear of smart tempo. This step has made it so easy to record ideas and then find out what the tempo is. I usually then re-record the idea to a fixed tempo.

I appreciate the comment. That pretty much gives the same result as Adapt mode. I have not found any other way of getting VI's to play in time with recordings that are rubato in nature other than making a precise tempo map unfortunately.

As for tempo mapping and automatic chord detection, Melodyne might be a great alternative for you. The tempo map that Melodyne creates can be imported into Logic as a MIDI file. Not sure about the chord progression, though.

You know, I haven't even thought of using Melodyne for anything other than pitch correction. I'll check that out thanks! Cheers 🍻

I found I got better result when I did all the ai stuff but then aligned it using the groove track feature.

You’re right about Logic 11 … in the second example the drums don’t feel natural and it’s hard to listen to because it’s not human like Lots of tweaking is necessary… … I’m sure it’ll all get better I like your video and you are very talented and I like the pace on style and information you share is useful Keep up the good work Eddie Simon Media New Zealand 🇳🇿

Thank you very much for the thoughtful comment! I agree, this is early days for the session players. It's scary to think how well these things will become... but at least then we won't have to go deep into the weeds with the fine tuning, but I probably still will haha. Glad you like the vid, thanks again 😃

So if the bassist doesn’t stay on the kick drum it’s a crappy bassist. If the drummer overplays and doesn’t do what you want it to do for the song. It’s a completely normal drummer

Great stuff. If you would allow me to be totally honest, the background music while you are sharing your wisdom is very distracting. Thank you again! Liked and subbed!

Thank you very much! I hear ya... the background music is tough because people either like it being there, or they don't. I experiment with both. Next upload I'll please the background haters, and then I'll get a comment about how my voice puts people to sleep haha 😆 I appreciate your honesty!

@@cuomomusiccreation I haven’t installed it yet. I’m waiting for you guys to have the headaches first. I heard there is a “command R” bug for note repeating. Have you experienced this in logic 11?

@@johnviera3884 Haha, good call! As far as bugs, I didn't talk about them in the video, because I run unorthodox rigs, so I don't want to spread bad info. However I did run into a few on this initial release.

The more AI and gizmos my software gets, the less time I spend developing and 'reifying' the musical ideas that pop up in my head. In fact, I'm too occupied manipulating & tweaking to think about my own ideas at all.

I totally get that. I actually hope that AI in the creative arts is more of a fad than the future... but that's probably wishful thinking.

I’m not sure the players are true AI. There are algorithms…..but I don’t think the players machine learn anything. I like it for what it is….but I think Logic has used AI as a current buzzword.
@cuomomusiccreation7 ай бұрын
If these are algorithmic, then there's some very intense code going on. They're far from perfect, but it's strange that they do seem to understand how to play, and not just what to play... even if it does take a lot of piloting on the user end to get usable results.
