I don't agree that it all sounds manufactured. It CAN sound like that if you allow it to but with loose quantising, velocity adjustments and special attention to the humanize function, you can lift it above the dull, lifeless stuff beginners come out with. It's like anything, it's how you apply yourself to the task. With enthusiasm and attention to detail you can make ordinary become extraordinary.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this and the last update are good moves and I’m excited for the beginners who can really benefit from it, but is there anything new a seasoned pro can take advantage of other than the new saturation plugin?

Have you seen the MIDI Input routing feature? That has many implications. I would also look at the ability to bounce external instruments or I/O in real time. There are some Marquee tool improvements as well.

Sorry, couldn't really follow your instructions. Logic Pro produces a 'default' sequence of chords and this doesn't seem to allow me to edit them. Thanks anyway

Make a keyboard session player and drop complexity and intensity, then drag and drop a lead elec guitar on the keyboard channel. Sounds better than cheating the bass 🤷‍♂️

Having used Logic with chord track for a week - the chord track keeps changing edits I do in midi tracks - like an annoying spell checker. That feature is not for me - I have my own ideas after 60+ years of composing music.

It falls flat... What would really be useful is to be able to drag a midi track up to the Chord track and have the Chord track auto populate the chords. Also, to be able to lock a midi input to the chord track would be awesome for creating in-key melodies. Oh well, maybe next time.

You can definitely do something similar if the Apple Loops contain the chordal information within their metadata. Your second point sounds awesome and someone already did it. Company is called “Feel Your Sound” product is called “melodic flow”. Would be nice if it was built on (I’m sure it’s coming 😉)

I think that this part of the update is great, especially for beginners. I already use drummer to help sketch out ideas and can see myself using bass player as well to assist with the initial idea. I only wish they had added a session guitar. In my opinion, that has been Logic’s achilles heel. The guitars either didn’t sound realistic or weren’t able to be easily programmed. It would be great to have a session guitar so I don’t have to run to third parties like Native Instruments just to get a strumming pattern

Why can’t the chord track just follow the midi regions I just played? Not innovative
@thatlogicproguy
@thatlogicproguy 6 ай бұрын
Does not work that way sir. You can assign the Chords on the “Chord Track” first and then ask the midi to follow the chord track. I’ll be talking about this on my next video.

@@thatlogicproguy it would be ideal to be able to drop midi chords or record real time playing chords. But as it is, it doesn’t serve a productive purpose. The time it takes to input each chord progression for an entire song would is a waste because you can record your progressions bass and melodies at a more productive time frame. Imagine writing an entire composition by limiting only writing the notes and chords. This design is kick in the face to musicians wanting backing bass and keys. This function has been in Cubase since 2016.

Lots of great examples for sure. I think it will evolve and get there for sure. This is the “Apple” way. They tread with scrutiny and carefully.

Sounds canned like always. I think these tools are good for organizing and writing, but as far as finished pieces. No thanks. They're good for getting things going though. I got tired of fighting with Drummer so I bought some v drums .. Drummer is a good way to get started quickly on things though. I'm not really all that blown away by this stuff. It's ok.

Back in my day 😉….i agree though this is a good tool. Not looking forward to all of the generic tracks I am going to hear from noobs and folks that think dragging in loops is equivalent to making music. I remember when the Step Sequencer came out “All Hands Beat” was on every song I heard from up and coming producers. So tired of that pattern region loop

@@hardlines2635 My Dad loved progressive noise rock. Noise is fine .. canned and boring sounding is the antithesis of creative and provocative. Your argument makes no sense .. essentially this drag and drop stuff sounds like elevator music. I'd figure most old people would love that. 😂

@@lunarproductions1176 i use LOGIC pro since 22 years , i produce music etc , so i know what you mean , i LOVE logic pro, it's an essential tool for me, that's not the problem.But what i see is more and more ad popup on tools on how build a song even if you don't know the difference from a C to D , so...what i mean it's that music is music , and it's the same since 1000 years or more , doesn't matter if your the Ramones , Vivaldi or a techno producer, the more musical rules and theory you know the better is the result, if the actual trend is to skip music theory, music have no future.....beside i know that there are still young people who learn music etc i'm a boomer with a solid contact with reality!

I teach kids music production and composition. Tools like this when implemented well can go a long way in teaching kids theory faster. I personally use Cubase it has a more advanced chord track it’s helped me a lot in understanding the function of chords in my compositions. It’s all about perspective
