Gotta admit that I was not feeling some of the demos I've seen of Logic Pro AI Musicians. I was under the impression that it had some limitations. Then, I saw your take on things... And yes, the ELEPHANT in the room was the reason why I had held that prior thought. But hearing you and your demonstration made me do a 180º on this new feature! I'm comfortable on the keys and grew up listening to icons like Stevie, Prince & Clinton/Parliament - so having my left hand play the bass part was always my thing. And I guess that's why I didn't think much of the bass session musician. Until you did this song this track this demo...WoW!! Incredible job and utilizing the features - especially converting midi into chords. Questions that I had were answered. And features that I didn't even consider were highlighted by you and this song/track. Excellent job and thanks for sharing this video with all of us! I'm still stuck on X (older computer here) but seeing this video definitely changed my whole initial reaction. Great job again! Keep doing your thing!

Thanks for the great feedback. Music is music. We know it’s our approach that brings out the culture and sound in our respective genres. The chord arranger and variety of phrases in the plugin opens this up a lot more for our individual and cultural expressions. I hope you enjoy using the app!

There are some websites already doing the voice part of this. The guitar player (with good quality samples) would be the game changer.
@daveking-sandbox92633 ай бұрын
The picture of the studio bass is an old precision bass, people like Jamie Jamerson and Larry Graham played. The modern bass with the circular pick guard is a Music Man type bass, like from the early 80s. Just a little music history for you. I played bass on Donna Summer's "Love to love you baby in 1975". I've been a session player from many years here in Europe and I've also had the chance to play with a lot of American acts when they come over here for jazz festivals, etc.. I love what you're doing, I'm still struggling with the session player myself, the idea is good, but I hope it doesn't end up just giving young musicians a lot of possibilities when they really should be learning a little bit of music theory first. Just a thought..

i really enjoyed watching this. I’m mainly a guitar player, but can also play keys and simple bass. I’m really enjoying recording some of my own real guitar in, and then seeing what the AI comes up with. I even tried recording some dub / reggae (which I love), and with some adjusting got a really killer dub bass line that blew me away (similar to your face when you heard the bass) - so far really liking it

@@seljoypro yes I have been playing around with it. Seriously the bass lines generated for dub reggae are really good. You obviously need a bit of musical understanding and there is a fair amount of midi editing to get the exact results you seek, but overall I am super impressed with these features, they are only inspiring my creativity - I really hope you make some more videos showcasing this DAW on the iPad

If I take almost finished 3 minute song track has synths and vocals and arrangement and it needs matching melodic rhythmic bass and drums can I do it here basically automatically like ai matches spacing of chords and with ongoing varying notes in each bar over 3 minutes as a noobie? Like scaler 2 than Captain plug-ins or ezkeys to ezdrummer 3 add in ez bass? What’s the best easy way? Limiting sidechain noise ducking problems maximizing groove beat energy
@seljoypro3 ай бұрын
If I’m understanding your question correctly, I would say that the key is making sure your Chord arrangement is done correctly in Logic first. You can use Scaler to generate those chords and copy them in to Logic Chord arrangement global track. And yes Logic Session instruments will follow the arrangements by playing beats, chords and bass line patterns that fit the mode of the chords. Please tell me more about the last part of your question about side-chaining and noise ducking. Are you trying to get the Logic Session instruments to follow elements of an Audio track? If so, you could try using the Stem Splitter feature to separate the elements of your audio track that you want to accent. So right click on the audio track and select Stem Splitter. It will isolate the drums, bass, vocals and other music into 4 tracks. That way you can have Logic Session Instruments listen to one of those elements to groove with them while following your Chord arrangements. I hope this helps.

The "Keyboard Overlay" is a great idea however, in the longer term musicians need training to understand what's behind the tools they are using. Music is no different than math or science and must be treated that way as it's far more than just an "ART CLASS" Alone. I say this for the benefit of up & coming musicians as they need to know the "WHY's" if you will instead of just accepting things and moving on.

Yeah most of us don’t need this for the final product. However, it is a useful idea in exploring musical ideas or generating a quick reference. The cool thing about logic is that for the professional it’s an all in one solution. For the amateur, it’s a great “sketch” creator. So no matter where you are in musicianship or creativity, it’s got something for you.
