The fact that I can apply this to midi regions blew my mind. Looks like I haven't explored the quantize feature enough (or flex mode for that matter). Thank you!!!

It's brilliant. Find the groove of any loop (including from your favourite tracks), make a Groove Template and apply it to any region in your track. Enjoy!

Another thing I thought was only possible in Ableton. Amazing, thank you! Btw your Film Scoring Masterclass for Guildford was so tremendously helpful when I dipped my toes in this area, and I didn’t skip a single second from both videos. I was actually a bit sad when it was over because it was such a great lesson and immersive storytelling.

fantastic video. One question i have is, is there a way to copy the velocity as well as the timing? So convert hi hat audio to midi where velocity of notes is transferred? thanks.
@jonobuchananmusic Жыл бұрын
Hi Jason. Thanks, glad it was useful. Think of Groove Templates and Audio to MIDI as two separate processes. If you want to borrow the groove of a rhythmic loop and apply this to multiple regions in a track, Groove Templates are great. If you want to turn the strength of each transient hit of a loop into a Velocity map, Drum Replacement will achieve that most comfortably. I’ve made a 2-part miniseries on this very subject. Part 1 is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/anfFeWZ3i9Omb5o Hope this answers your question!

@@jonobuchananmusic I was trying to use a midi track, instead of audio track and that wouldn’t work for me and I was wondering why it doesn’t work, but the way you have explained it, it totally makes sense. Thanks again.
