Hey, I just wanted to say thank you. As a new owner of logic pro x, your video tutorials are priceless. They really help newbies navigate the immense universe of logic pro x. As a thank you , I bought Mayday Children full album on itunes. As a fan of 80’s meatal, i have to say im quite impressed. I have always been a fan of concept albums and recently discoverd Avantasia and Aryeon. Mayday Children falls right in with these great stories. I highly recommend anybody who has been helped by your tutorials to give a little back and check out this guys stuff. Mayday Children rocks.

Heres a tip.... For ethereal reverb, Apples inbuilt system wide AU Matrix verb is one of the best ive ever heard.... And Ive got a lot off plug ins.... Seriously , for long , huge , ambient ethereal reverbs its almost criminal no one talks about how amazing the algorithm is... maybe the new chroma verb takes some code... but for a big..looooong rev, theres nothing like it... And it actually has some voodoo way of working in a mix... It is my got to for the big wash.... Not Alti,lexi,eventide ect....... Trust me, you wont be disappointed...

After using Alchemy for voice sampling, I said goodbey to the EXS24 sampler after since. But now I think I am picking up the old EXS24 again and try to be as creative as you show us you can be with this sampler. You blew new life into Logics EXS24 (donald duck) Sampler. Thanks!

@MusicTechHelpGuy This is a great video but on the real do you know of a shortcut to achieve the same thing because that's a lot of steps to memorize or is there a written step by step guide to create this stacked vocal sample instrument.. also does the vocal transform plugin correct the pitch ? Meaning if the singer sang a Bb but when you run it through vocal transform and adjust pitch to a C natural etc then you decide that you want the 1st pitch to C1 on the keyboard etc? .. Is that how it works ?

I think the sample in the video sounds so cool because of the Valhallah Shimmer. Paid plugins pay!

@thenewyorkcowboy74975 жыл бұрын
Well, I just spent an hour trying to follow your process with one vocal sample. I lost you at find the .wav file and import it into the sampler. Wish there was a way with less steps to get my .wav files into the sampler. Will try again next week.

You can repeat the same process in any DAW. Use similar plug-ins and a third party sampler, or a DAW's integrated sampler.

is valhallashimmer built in logic? where is it?
@gukas.13385 жыл бұрын
No, you have to buy it.
@MusicTechHelpGuy5 жыл бұрын
It's a third party plug-in. $50 from Valhalla DSP. But you can use any reverb to recreate the effect I did in this video.
@GR-uw7yc5 жыл бұрын
Don’t know why you would bother to do this when it’s so much quicker and easier in Alchemy.
@MusicTechHelpGuy5 жыл бұрын
If you prefer Alchemy go for it, or any other 3rd party sampler for that matter. I would argue that doing this in the EXS24 is actually less time consuming than Alchemy. The EXS24 is a dedicated sampler, it's meant for one purpose, sampling... it does has a few modulation controls, but nothing crazy. It does one thing really well if you know how to use it. Alchemy has a bunch of synthesis and modulation parameters which is great if you want to further modulate the sound, and visually it's easier to work with for sampling. But, there's a couple issues I have with Alchemy for multi-sampled instruments like this. (1) It only supports a maximum of 32 voices, whereas the EXS24 supports 64. If you're doing anything really ambient with a lot of long overlapping release tails, you can run out of voices, and this also makes it completely unusable for complex multi-sampled drum instruments as well. Way back when I was making my Alchemy series, I was going to do a video on complex drum sampling, but it was a total fail because I was running out of voices when the drums are all 1-shots. (2) In the video I show that you can set the sample range and loop range for one of the samples, then copy and paste that same setting over to ALL of the samples. You cannot do this in Alchemy. You have to go through sample-by-sample and manually adjust the start/end/loop range. Without a doubt the GUI for adjusting these is nicer and easier in Alchemy, but you'd ultimately waste a lot of time manually adjusting the start/end/loop range for 49 or more samples.
@GR-uw7yc5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply - good points. I suppose my thinking is that you’ve started with a single sample, removed the pitch information using a plugin, chopped it up and added new pitch information manually when you could do it all very quickly in Alchemy using additive resynthesis, without any need for multisampling. You’re quite right about Alchemy’s limitations as a sampler though.
@MusicTechHelpGuy5 жыл бұрын
@@GR-uw7yc Because re-synthesizing from a single sample will not sound as good as using multiple samples. It adds artifacts and will produce a different tone than multi-sampling. Now, you might actually like the result! And that's fine. But I usually don't like the way it turns out using a single sample. Also, if you're sampling an acoustic instrument, you can't do this without destroying the natural character of the instrument.
