Nice presentation. You pretty much explain the situation I experienced with non-lvm in virtual machine. After that fiasco, I switched to LVM. Thanks for this video.

As usual, an excellent presentation! In April of 2022, I plan to install the latest Ubuntu LTS and have been looking into LVM versus a Standard install. My server is for my home network. Currently, I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Originally, I had one hard drive, subsequently added two additional disks. Based on my initial research I'm most definitely leaning towards LVM. Thanks for a great explanation.

You’re welcome! Glad it helped clear things up. Sounds like you’ll highly benefit with an LVM setup.

I put together a 7TB Fileserver using LVM to combine multiple drives. It's been working flawlessly for years.

LVM is used to set up RAID1 mirrors for example.

Hello there, cool video. One question please, if one volume fails, what happens to the system?
@SavvyNik Жыл бұрын
Thanks. If a volume fails in a group I don't believe the group is accessible anymore because it can use any of the volumes in the group to store information. You would basically want to make two raid groups that way they mirror each other at all times and you would have another group to fall back on.
