@sanyammishra12635 жыл бұрын
More intuitively we can say B has 20% less speed than A, and C has 20% less speed than B. If we assume A has speed of 100 m/s then B has a speed of 80 m/s (20% less than that of A) and C has a speed of 64 m/s (20% less than that of B). So with these dummy numbers we can see that A finishes race in 1 second and at that time C only covered 64 meters. So A beat C by 36 meters.

Solved it - could be solved very easily by simple math. When B reaches 100 C reaches 80 , so where he was when B is at 80 -> 80*80/100 = 64 .

To put some numbers to this to make it more concrete for some people: A travels at 10.0 meters/second, B at 8.0, and C at 6.4. After 10 seconds, A has gone 100 meters, B 80, C 64. After 12.5 seconds, B is now at 100 meters, and C at 80. Never mentioned, but C finishes in 15.625 seconds.

I counted it in my head without pausing the video. Just thinking when A completed the race, B had progressed 80% from the race so the difference between B and C in that moment is 80% from the final amount. So 20m*80%=16 and adding the 20m between A and B gives the answer of 36m. Now going to learn the more fancy formula by you 😊

When A reaches the finish line, B has run 4/5 of the total distance, so the gap between B and C is 4/5 of the final gap between them. 4/5 of 20 is 16, so B is 16 meters ahead C which leads to the answer of 36 meters between A and C.

Depends on what you want to talk about, in drag racing people commonly talk about beating people by X number of lengths. It would be strange to talk about beating someone by a distance in a footrace, but no reason you couldn’t.
@jowbloe36735 жыл бұрын
The final results are usually in time, but they frequently mention distance as well. Horse races are measure in beaten distance, a nose, a head, a neck, a body length, 10 lengths. When A finishes, the lead on B is 20 meters, and when B finishes, the lead on C is 20 meters. Commentators during a race often mention distance behind, not time.

At ending distance between b and c is 20 meters. So we can say that for every 5 meters b is in additional of 1 meter. So when a won b is at 80 meters and far apart from c at 8x2=16 meters. So totally a to c=distance from ato b and b to c = 20+16 =36.

The race is finished when A crosses the line. A beats B by 20m. B beats C by 20m. So C is 40m behind A when the race is finished. Thats the correct answer to your question. If you want YOUR answer to be correct, ask the right question!

So we basically divide the race into 5 cycles of 20m. Now we can easily tell that A advances over B by 4 metres every cycle if we divide the 20 metres distance between them at the end of the race with the number of cycles. We also know that B is faster than C just as much as A is faster than B, because they differ by the exact same distance when B finishes as the distance between A and B when A got to the finish line. Now when A got to the finish we know that B completed only 4 of the cycles because 80/20 = 4. If we know that B advances over C at a rate of 4m/per cycle and he has completed 4 of the cycles 4x4 is 16, so at that point the distance between B and C was 16 + the distance between A and B of 20 meters that is *36meters*
@aquawoelfly5 жыл бұрын
Before watching video. A B and C run 100 meters. First thought is that total like... a runs x b runs y and c runs z distance or a race? *continues* a beats b by 20m b beats c by 20 meters. Next thought im missing information... im not sure if this i total or a race? Well if its total we start with a at +40 b at +20 and thats 40 left over. That doesnt divide by 3 nicely... but its still not tricky. Then i remember i dont remember much about physics and calculating distance from "arbitrary" speed. (Ie when speed is not given, nor a time from which to derive one so you asign one as a placeholder [ v=d/t is easier fo me] or work backwords without a speed to solve this kind of problem)

It wasn't given, but mentioned. B was 80% as fast as A (20m lost), and C was 80% as fast as B (20m lost). These were the only hints given, and is all the info needed to solve this problem.

When A finishes race, B is 20m behind A but the time for both is same so we can take thier speeds directly proportional to distances travelled. Similarly for B and C as well.

You can do it easier. Speed B is 4/5 of speed A. And speed C is 4/5 of speed B. Hence speed C is 4/5 * 4/5 of speed A. Now multiply it by distance (100) and you get 64.
@lonetraveler34804 жыл бұрын
I don't get it. I can almost swear the answer is a variable that can't be defined since humans don't have a constant speed. Though I'd agree this is the best answer possible from the given data.
@devondevon43664 жыл бұрын
The question said ' assume they ran at constant speed' so the assumption is that for every second the speed was the same such as 6.4 meters for every second , while the other ran at 8.0 meter per second and the fastest 10 .0 meters per seconds. So in ten seconds all three runners are at the following distance: 64 meters, 80 meters , 100 meters .

If we assume a car is travelling 100 miles per hour (at constant speed) then in 1 hour it will reach 100 miles. The car 20 miles behind (at constant speed) would have traveled 80 miles per hour AND completed the 100 mile distance in 1.25 hour, but at this time a car 20 miles behind (constant speed) would be traveling at speed of 80/1.25 or 64 miles per hour. So the fastest car would beat it by 36 miles ( 100 miles minus 64 miles) for the 100 mile distance. You said 90% failed, likely many rush to answer it.

Let A travel at 10 meter per second, then A would complete the 100 meter race in 10 seconds while B would complete 80 meter in 10 second or travelling at a speed of 8 meter per second. B thus would complete the race in 12.5 seconds ( time = distance/speed). In 12.5 seconds C would complete 80 meter or travelling at a speed of 6.4 meters per second ( 80/12.5). When A completed the 100 meter race in 10 seconds , C at that time would be at the 64 meter mark (10 seconds x 6.4 meters/second). 100-64 = 36 meter. A beats C by 36 meters. Answer =36

I went it by solving mathematically A 10 m/s B 8m/s C x m/ s After 10 seconds A reach 100m B reach 80 m C reach 10x m For B to reach 100m time required is (100/8) s =12.5 s After 12.5 s B reach 100m C reach 12.5x which is given as 80m(20 m difference between b and c ) So 12.5 x = 80 x = 6.4 Speed of c is 6.4 m/s After 10 s ( finishing time of A ) C reaches 10x = 10*6.4 = 64 m difference is 100-64 = 36m A beat C by 36 m
@vishalsingh-kp7rt5 жыл бұрын
Speed of A to Speed of c =100/ 64 so speed of A = 100k & speed of c = 64k now we are not given the time so we let time 't' be taken by A to reach the finishing line and it is the same time taken by C so distance covered by A & C will be 100kt & 64 kt respectively and distance between them will be 36kt but we don't know about k and t so how we find it ?
@notchmath96425 жыл бұрын
36?
@RajavarmanJayasankar3 жыл бұрын
I solved it with different method. Let me know if i am wrong.. I assumed A took 10 seconds to finish 100 meters. In that 10 seconds B has covers 80 meters. Which is at the speed of .125 seconds per meter.. so B will take .125x 20= 2.5 seconds to run last 20 meters.. totally 12.5 second to finish 100 meters. When B finishes 100 meter in 12.5 seconds, C covers 80 meters in 12.5 seconds.. which is at the speed of 0.15625 second per meter. And C would take 20x 0.15625= 3.125 seconds to run 20 meters. In total C would take 15.625 seconds to cover 100 m. We found that A covers 100 m in 10 sec and C covers 100 m in 15.625 seconds. So C took 5. 625 additional to finish than A. C would have run 36 meters in 5.625 seconds. 100/15.625x 5.625= 36 Answer is 36 m - the distance between A and C when A finished the 100 meters. Same answer with different logic.

How can u say when B reaches finishing line C was 20 mts behind As u said B To C is less than 20 mts, now U r saying wen B reaches line C was at 80 ?
@jowbloe36735 жыл бұрын
When B is at 80 meters, C is less than 20 meters behind (16 at 64 meters) because C is going slower than B. B finishes the last 20 meters faster than C, C only goes 16 more meters to get to 80 meters when B finishes.
