Denise, as a Russian speaker I must point out that the Russian letter /ch/ that you are using is upper case, a lower case "ч" in writing resembles lower case "r". The letter "й" is pronounced as "y" like in "yes" not a short /i/. It's understandable though since it takes years to really know a language. I'm using your Essentials program with a 4th grader and we both see a lot of progress! Great job! Thank you for posting the Teacher training!

So, Google is wrong here? www.google.com/search?q=english+to+russian&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS768US768&oq=english+to+russian&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j0l5.3624j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Type in the word Tea for English. I used a lower case "t" for the word. It only reduces the size of the "ч" not a lower case "r".
