If you're on a budget and want to experience a steering wheel gaming: Pick T80 - good upgrade from a d-pad controller. If you want to experience driving closer to a real thing, and having a deep pockets, pick G29 - better upgrade from a d-pad controller.

Cons for g29 are. 1: it’s super loud (gear on gear brushed motors) 2: ffb is jerky at times (compared to t150 which is belt to gear, or t300 which is belt to belt) Another pro for g29 is price. For a beginner wheel it’s pretty cheap, but I highly recommend a t150 or t300

Great video for anyone just starting out or considering getting into sim racing, I'm sure it's helped a lot of people so far. T-80 is the best low budget wheel for sure, especially if you're not sure that sim racing is your thing. You can still have a lot of fun, for the money you'll spend. If either sim racing isn't for you or you want to upgrade, you can always sell it in the used market. If you want start in mid-budget, with force feedback, then the G29 starts to run into some competition and you'd be best to watch comparison videos, of wheels in its category.

Had the g29 for over a year. As a starter wheel, its godlike. Build quality is awesome, had no issue whatsoever, with heavy and vigorous use. Only maintenance was a bit of leather care, for the rim. Materials are excellent, real leather wrapped rim, metal based mechanism for the pedals. Only weak point are the paddle shifters, although made of aluminium, they feel cheap.... FFB is more than enough, if a bit notchy. And to tell the truth, i never felt it, until i went to a belt driven wheel. It does have a small deadzone, although its negligible. My 6 speed shifter broke almost 2 months after i bought it... then again, i have a friend that has had his for over 4 years without issues. So, you know, YMMV. All in all, if you are just starting in sim racing, G29 is your best bet. Second option, thrustmaster t300. But you might need to uprgrade the pedals. Out of the box, they are shit.
@LadyWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing, tom. I'm interested in a shifter but not a major priority rn. I know several top sim racers (not just starting) who are still using the G29 wheel. Overall, I believe that it really is personal preference.
@TomGS3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyWanderlust well, yes and no... Heh.. Yes, there are several pro real and sim racers that still use the G29 (or the logitech family, really). There are 2 reasons for this. 1, the obvious one, its built like a tank, and its all in one package (well, it used to be, now you need to buy the shifter separately). And, because until this pandemic most real racers didn't really have elaborate rigs and setups. 2: one thing you will notice about the FFB is the small but noticeable notching when you turn the wheel. Now, imagine if you could memorize how many notches you need to catch a slide? You see where im going with this? No? Alright... in the real world, racing teams try to shave as many tenths of a second as they can, by streamlining systems, lowering the weight, etc... We, as gamers, have to game the game. Learning our controllers, and excelling with them, is one of those ways. Why would i, a master of the G29, move on to another wheel? I would need to relearn the FFB tells, the buttons and rotary encoders.... and now, all the cars feel different, gotta relearn those... and the brakes! (As a personal note, changing to the thrustmaster TCLM was the biggest learning curve. ) How much time and effort, relearning all of that would take? It took me about 4 months... from the G29 to the T300. Granted, im a gtsoprt and f1 20-- pleb. But still. Shifter, its NOT a must have. Although it makes , to me, a more complete simulation of real driving. Heel and toening, clutch kicking, and knob wielding (mind out of the gutter!) is a hella lot of fun.

Thrustmaster t80 isn't force feedback and only has 240 degrees of rotation compared to the g29 which has 900 and dual motor geared force feedback. Whoever said the ffb is jerry is wrong and doesn't know what they're talking about. I have experience with both of these wheels and the g29 is arguably better. Some might say that it's too expensive , but it is definitely one of the cheapest ffb wheels on the market right now. The t80 features a bungee cord system that tries to replicate the force of turning, which, well, it does terribly the pedals are plastic and flimsy and if you press too hard you might snap the plastic. The g29s pedals have metal plates and the extra spike grip feature for people who use it on carpets.

you can't compare a steering wheel of 90 € without force feedback which is only 120 and 120 to one which costs 350 € with the clutch the manual gearbox 900 and 900 the turning angle and the force feedback you cannot compare them
@Dgcamarena4 жыл бұрын
Of course the Logitech G29 is better than Thrustmaster T80, the T80 is too small plus no feedback. Nice video!

Thank you, all I needed it to know about the T80. I love the Logitech brand, and I need to upgrade since the one I have only works on PS2 and PS3 but not PS4. Do G29 works also for PS3? Thanks!
@LadyWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
I've never tried it on a PS3 but I did find this review for you: "If you’re looking for a wheel for the PS3 and was considering the G29, you should probably just go with a G27. Now if you want a wheel that’s also compatible with the Playstation 4, then the G29 is the way to go." (source: www.isrtv.com/codemasters-dirt-series/logitech-g29-compatibility-on-ps3/)
@Lizard-of-Oz3 жыл бұрын
@@LadyWanderlust Thanks for the replay. Yeah, so basically the G29 works on PS3 and PS4 as well then, if so I would rather buy this one than buying the "Brooks Converter" For that I need the G27 which I don't have. Thanks for the info and if you have any old school games you should check out those "Brooks Converters" if you haven't. Have a wonderful night!! Thanks again.

I bought both, was thinking about returning my T80 before the G29 came. I don't drive irl, but I have at least had my permit. A con for the G29 for me personally is that the 900 degree turning mixed with the Force feedback always has me questioning which side of the wheel I'm grabbing and if I need to shift up, many times I shifted down because it turns out the wheel is upside down.
@LadyWanderlust3 жыл бұрын
The wheel is upside down? Got me confused about this.

I've never tried the t80 of F1 2021. I do know the turn radius on the wheel is very limited, so that was frustrating when I used it for GTS. Did you calibrate your wheel for the game?
