for anyone who doesn't want to replace the pads, if you have a hairdryer or heat gun you can heat up the pads and take them off gently, makes it easy to reheat and stick on when you are done with your repair.

You can carefully use a drill on the tapes to make holes that allow you to access the screws. Any rough tags on the edges of the holes can be trimmed with an exacto knife. The pads will slide the mouse just as easily with a few access holes cut through them.

A firm rub on the feet and they will sink in, making it easy to see where the screw holes are. I'm gonna try drilling next time.

Great idea. It works. This video helped me to identify position of screws and I just used very thin metal "niddle" to make initial wholes and then Philips 0 to make them bigger. Thank you for the idea.

Thanks a ton atomton. I managed to fix my rapid double click issue using these disassembly instructions. After I got the body disassembled, I googled around for "omron mouse switch repair" (Onron was printed on my g502 hero switches) and found a video about taking the individual switches apart. Bit of sticky tape on the switch top, lifted the lid, and unbent a slight amount of copper. Did a small amount of dabbing the copper with some tweezers and a cotton wad soaked in Isopropyl. Reassembled and got a *near* perfect score up to 280 or so clicks before a "fast double click event" in an online double click tester. Good enough for me, may end up doing it again if I feel like it. I am lucky to own a microscope for the switch adjustment. I'd recommend others with the same determination either use a microscope or a good magnifying glass and plenty of light and a little less coffee than I had that morning. It looks like it would be VERY easy to unbend the copper too much.

I just tiny drops of super glue to hold them in place, I've taken the thing apart three times over the past several years and reused the pads each time. There's usually enough residual adhesive left that they flatten after being used for a bit.

Many years ago I was pulling things apart that had minor problems, I'd have no idea how to get the thing back together and/or working and give up hopeless with no idea what to do, throwing it away and forgetting about it. Now I have finally taught myself to solder and actually fixed my xbox controller, and headphones. My work was shoddy but it does the job. Since then I still break things all the time just trying to get it off the board. I suck so bad at fixing things, and it's the most stressful task I have undertaken, but nevertheless I've already saved myself money. Have faith in yourself and take a lesson from every mistake.

The simplest way to reuse pads is to let some isopropyl alcohol soak the area where they sit before removing them. They come off easily this way and the sticky side stays like that way after drying up.

I think a lot of G502 failures are a result of dirt/dust infill and not bad switches. The G502 has massive gaps compared to the G500 between the buttons and the housing. Just cleaning my G502 (literally pounded the grime out of the clickers) solved my clicking issues.

I do not recommend trying this. You can out pads back, but after opening the screws, it is really hard to open your mouse. I managed to break mine at some extent. It is still working, but I had to glue small part back on. You need to use force which may be too much for the mouse.

I stepped on my 502s USB connector and snapped it to 90 degree angle. I spliced on another USB cable and it was working great for 7 weeks or so. More recently my cat tried to kill me and I tripped on the cord which caused it to jerk out from the computer. Now when I plug it in i can see a very faint red light inside and the RGB doesn't come on. Windows says it doesn't recognize the device and it doesn't function at all. What should I do? I'm pretty sure I voided the warranty when I cut the cord to splice it.

Well, iFixit has a "Essential Electronics Toolkit" for ~20 € which contains the required tools; replacement feet by Logitech are around 2 € + shipping. And you just have 9 screws and 2 springs. But then you still don't know why your middle mouse button doesn't work and if you don't use the toolkit for anything else, it might be a waste of money if you can't fix it.

I got a piece of hair or some type of fiber wrapped around my scroll wheel so it isn't scrolling as freely and tweezers aren't doing the job so I have to completely disassemble the thing to get access to the scroll wheel?! I was thinking that there would be a release or something to allow you to pull it out the top for quick cleanings. I'm afraid that I'm going to lose or break something. I'm not sure if this is just logitech but between the difficult cleaning, the occasional double-clicks and the problems that I have with Ghub and their customer service, I'm not sure why I thought that Logitech was the top of the line, or maybe it still is and the other companies are even worse..? Not sure what better options are out there are but i would assume that somebody else is doing it better. I'm fairly new to PC's, but you would think that a mouse that is specifically made for gaming would not have any issue, clicking, scrolling, or cleaning, as I assume those are the core functions that a gamer who drops the amount of money on something like this would need/expect, but what do i know...
@atomton5581

I think the wheel is attached to the holder with a #00 Phillips screw, so I guess there's no way to clean it without disassembling the mouse. Thing with "gaming" equipment IMHO is that it's often just a label to sell things and not necessarily an indicator for quality or repairability.

No longer a fan of the Logitech stuff...I got a G502 mouse and keyboard (can't even remember the model) for Christmas. Both stopped working properly within a few weeks. The left and right click on the mouse don't always register when you click near the middle/top of the two buttons (where your fingers would normally rest). So holding down a mouse button doesn't act as if you're holding it down; it is like you are randomly releasing and re-clicking. Supremely annoying. When I click really far towards the back of the buttons, it seems to work fine. Either way, I now feel as if their products are poorly built because I had two separate defective items from them that stopped working after such a short time.

replace the klick-switch. The wheel might not be the faulty part. google Panasonic EVQ-P0E07K for the part

My right mouse button does not stay down when I hold it. Where did you get the micro-switch? Were you really able to fix the mouse?

Which component affects the mechanical "clickiness" of the M3 (middle mouse) button? Is it just the tension of the two small springs or is there a switch somewhere? I ask because I recently picked on a g903 on sale for cheap, and it's largely a good experience, but the M3 feels completely flat and dull. Responsiveness is difficult to judge with no tactile feedback, so it becomes a pain to use to the point I just bound M3 to the side buttons. The newer Logitech mice also seem to have a common problem with m1 and m2 switches being cheap trash, but I'll cross that bridge when it becomes a problem-- those are easy enough as long as I don't hamfist some soldering and completely brick the thing.

IIRC the springs reset the M3 position to normal and the actual switch is visible from 3:25 in the video. But then, if the springs are not properly aligned, the click will be dull as well.

I have an issue that scrolling my mouse wheel is not getting recognized anymore. Anyone has a hint to help me out if I might be able to fix it?

So the middle mouse button scrolls fine, and the button that switches from a smooth to a non-smooth scroll also works fine. The main click for the middle mouse doesn't work, I only have to touch the middle mouse button for it to open tabs and the like. Just scrolling though the comment did it too, and I can't hear the click. The button works, but it's so damn sensitive as if the wheel was crammed against the button inside. Looking at the components I'm wondering, is that orange button fragile? I've owned the mouse for maybe two years now, and while I'm generally careful with computer and mouse (Obviously being rough with it guarantees it won't last long) I don't doubt wear and tear is the cause.

i almost opened my mouse because the memory cicle wasnt working and i though the button got stuck because it wasnt responding, turns out it was an update that removed the from memory to the software and disabled it.......my heart......so weak.

hello just bought a g502 and the wire is bend and the braided material is loose in the spot where the velcro was fixed . Try to reach my retailer and they tell me to return it and wait for refund instead of just fixing the problem and send me a new one . I researched this wire problem and can;t seem to find spare parts cable shops in my country can you tell me exactly what kind of connector does this cable has and a general advice of what to do in this situation? ty in advance

alexandru gabriel you should be able to find a replacement cable online, just search for *G502 replacement cable*. I recently got one delivered from EBay and it seems to be working a treat so far :) Mines a g502 proteus spectrum so it has a 5 pin connector, I also ordered one which had the stress relief already built in. Hope this helps ^^

bruh, you know how the mouse wheel eventually get all loose and rolls too easily, just add more spring tension, probably an intentional design flaw!!!!!!!!!! same deal with the freewheel button
