FYI if you use this cable to get the full proper travel of the break you must remove the rubber stopper inside the spring as its no longer needed as thats in place to simulate a load-cell with the aid of the firmware curve built in to the wheel base
@SalsaKetchup
@SalsaKetchup 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, but removing the rubber stopper inside the spring is not necessary and I would highly advise against removing the rubber stopper (unless replacing it with something that feels better)! As you said the rubber stopper is there simulate the physical feel of a load-cell, this feeling of a loadcell is still important to us! This mod is not about maximising the travel distance of the peddle, it is about getting consistent results of a higher resolution and to achieve that goal removing the curve that is programmed into the wheelbase is what is needed! That is what the cable does for us, it gives us a linear output measured by travel where after creating contact with the rubber stopper requires increasing amounts of strength to output higher voltage from the potentiometer that is connected.

Awesome video cheers, just got my leo bodnar lead and my pedals felt completely different for me straight away, well after the calibration. I wouldn't have known how to calibrate the spikes ect if it wasn't for your video thanks pal legend, also worth looking into the 3drap gt brake mod, and a stiffer spring in the throttle and clutch 👌 night and day compared to stock!

Just a tip for future videos would be to write a quick script for yourself. In this video you said the same thing like 3-4 times before getting to the point. Otherwise great content, keep it up
@SalsaKetchup
@SalsaKetchup 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, I appreciate the commentary, the thought and time. I use to write scripts, then I would have to do retake after retake until I got it right, then I would have to find the right clips, to discover a little fault and then have to redo a voiceover (more retakes and editing \0/ ). . . then burn out, run out of time, patience ect, and in the end not get the content out that to begin with I really wanted to share. This is one of the times when I've said to myself, i'm getting something out the door even if its rough around the edges (don't just want more unused files on my hdd's), but each time I do this warts and all approach, I hope I improve a little more than the last time. So for me, for now, I'm still trying to find the balance that works and hope that people both join, stay with me and hopefully get to a mix that works.

This was one of the reasons why I was looking at the Thrustmaster T 150/300 setup. It comes already with the high resolution pedals and the wheel it self also has a higher radius of 1080 degrees instead of the G29's 900 degrees. But the T 150 also need the upgrade pedals for it as it comes with the basic format of just brake and accelerator. But now I see that the G29 can also have that nice high resolution for its pedals thanks to this cable conversion adapter and the fact that the G29 is a all in one setup system makes it more appealing. But as you said this is only for PC users. Which for the PS4 I would not get the extra high resolution for the G29/cable adapter setup. Plus the wheel is still 900 degrees. So the only thing that draws me to the G29 is what you get out of the box. Were as the T150 which is the cheaper version of the T300 can get me there but without the better metal pedals of the T3PA which also includes the clutch pedal which I would also have to buy separately.
@SalsaKetchup
@SalsaKetchup 5 жыл бұрын
When I first looked at getting a wheel I knew I wanted a shifter as well so the Thrustmaster setups always turned into a much more expensive prospect with the shifter alone costing the same that I could get a G29 for, then add that I would have to get a set that had the T3PA with it or have to buy the T3PA-Pro (again the same cost). I don't often need to turn the wheel to the limits and as a bit of a guide I found this interesting bit of info: 900* or more, 2.5 or more full turns lock to lock: Usually anything from average road cars to sports cars. 720* + or - (2.0 more or less turns lock to lock) Drift cars. Multiple classes of Rally cars (group N) 540* + or - (1.5 more or less turns lock to lock) GT1 and 3 spec race cars, and WRC Rally cars. 360* + or - (1.0 more or less turns lock to lock) Formula 1 cars. So I would not be too bothered about a higher or lesser turning radius of the wheel as a big deciding factor. The Thrustmaster's do have other things going for them for certain, but overall I just found that the price to feature set was more in favor of the G29 for me, even with adding a couple of mods on top. But all of this is conjecture it is dependant on what you feel comfortable with, of course, if there is any way for you to try them out before buying I would 100% recommend doing so as that would give you a far more informed position than anyone else's option ever can.
@greattantrum523
@greattantrum523 5 жыл бұрын
@@SalsaKetchup Thank you for the response. Like I said the G29's appeal is the whole setup out of the box. I admit that I was not aware of the radius of the car classes. So the G29 offers more than enough radius to handle just about any class of cars. The only thing for me now is the low resolution of the G29. Yes for PC that seems to be fixed for the pedals thanks to this adapter. But what about PS4/PS5? I am sure I would be happy with the G29 but you admit that it has a weird logarithmic scale to its pedals. They aren't linear out of the box which can cause abrupt input. This doesn't sound that great if I want this for my PS4. Thus leaving me back to the Thrustmaster position. As for the separate shifter and better pedals? Well, I can live with the basics of the T150 as I mainly play racing games in automatic anyways. Yes. I tried manual and my brain goes bonkers. Hehehe. I can save money for the other parts in time if I want too. Obviously it may cost me more money at the end if I choose to buy the whole setup for the Thrustmaster or buy a T300. But if what I am hearing is true? The T series sounds like a more smooth experience performance. Now I just need to save money to buy something.

@@greattantrum523 Of course you could confuse the situation even more and look at Fanatec 😈 there is also an adaptor that will let you use Fanatec pedals with Thrustmaster wheel if you wanted.
@greattantrum523
@greattantrum523 5 жыл бұрын
@@SalsaKetchup I am going to act like Fanatec doesn't exist. They are elite super expensive. I like to keep it as G29 vs T150/300 range. Oh by the way. I found a "T150 pro" which includes the metal brake accelerator and clutch. The shifting can be done on the paddles from the wheel if I did want to play manual. I'll have to look at prices.
@SalsaKetchup
@SalsaKetchup 4 жыл бұрын
The T150 Pro that comes with the T3PA peddle set is about like for like with the G29 in spec or so close that it makes little difference. However the peddles with the G29 are still better than the T3PA peddle set and you can regularly get the G29 (or even G29 + shifter) for £100 less than the T150 PRO and there is no way that I would rate a T150 as worth £100 more than the G29, somewhat subject to opinion I guess but then peoples budgets are often the king of decision so the G29 wins bang for buck.

Can a use a generic usb to serial to make my g29 pedals work with t300?
@SalsaKetchup
@SalsaKetchup 2 жыл бұрын
If you are playing on a PC you would just plug the USB Conversion Cable into the PC and it will work as one device, then you plug the USB from your t300 into the PC and it will work as a separate device, this is why there is the option in games such as AMS2 and PC2 for wheels/peadles to be calibrated as a single or separate devices.

would this make these pedals useable as a rudder setup for a flight sim rather than buying a separate pedel setup
@SalsaKetchup
@SalsaKetchup 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it would as the pedals are their own separate device, however the sim would also have to have options to ser right rudder as one axes and left rudder as an other axes. Other than that the strength of the springs for the accelerator and clutch peddles are not equal so maybe a bit odd muscle memory wise?

It's like night and day when you first switch over!! Going from 256-steps to 4096-steps resolution. By installing an Arduino Mini Pro 3.3 or 5v microcontroller and loading the windows Joystick library onto the Arduinino microcontroller ($10), and connect up the 9pin DIN female pluig for the pedals to be able to connect to the wastly upgraded pedals in all your adventures using them. I see you don't have a 16bit microcontroller. My solution still seems like a no brainer. Who wants to go into business and make cheap telemetry gadgets for sim-rigs. I mean seriously, ... Some folks have a dedicated iPad to have "more cockpit" I guess? There are apps for ur phone, but they are only in the way. I suggest we install new LCDisplays size 3,5" - 5" for avarage Schmoooh, and offer up to 15" telemetry LCD's mounted by CAD-drawn 3D-Print framework unless we build it with cheap metal alloys like aluminium or even carvon fibre rods and plates. 1x 5" LCD for the Geargox, 1x3,5" LCDisplay for telemetry on the temperatures most vonurable, magnet-mode paddel shifter.... Let me know if U wanna go into business. Or be a rep. Having modded my G920 Xbox wheel from regular stop-swiitches used in most automated high voltage systems. When i change gears. the magnet bites on by the slightest thouch. If it's too sensitive we can adjust it easily. I also installed 40.000rpm cooling fans on the FFB motors on my G27 wheel. They had a 2,5" LCD showing motor 1&2's temperatures every 5sec and with a little bit of Python programming The LCD will alert the driver oif there are any anomonlies in the sim--rig. I even monitor my GPU's and their respective fans in case one failed. I'm currently working on a motion-rig based on 3 actuators. Gravity can be faked easily with a tigh seatbelt that squeeze you when you brake hard into a corner. Acceleration I can't solve unless I do the crazy idea about a rig running thousands of volts to change it's weight when it get's airborne. Electrons is the key to solving gravity, warp-drives, and we have 2 models currently telling us Einstein, ... yes, he was wrong after all about time and space. Or Spacetime as he called it. This is made up. Light has been proved to travel 6x faster than "the universal speedlimit". One or two labs have confirmed this. Actuators? Nah, ... I got something better ;)

The other has the ground on pin 1 and the DC on pin 6. The analog outputs from the wipers of the three pots still all go to the same pins. There would still be 5vdc going across those pots. The output of those pots going to the axis outputs on pins 2, 3, and 4 will still be a 0-5vdc signal. I've been inside my G940 pedals. They are standard 10K pots. Nothing polarized about them. I’m glad you like the channel content and that hopefully more people will get use from this simple and cheap mod. This is a very hard subject to speak on, any conversation over "PC" terms related to race, heritage and skin colour as is more complex than it seems at first! With differing use and meaning based on county, time of upbringing etc, and one that I feel ill-qualified to talk on so I’m going to include this link: www.independent.co.uk/voices/black-women-people-of-colour-racism-beyonce-coachella-black-lives-matter-a8316561.html it is an interesting read by Tolani Shoneye and the comments section illustrates many reasons why I say it is more complex than it seems at first. One of the comments from that page is: “In the 1950s we spoke of black people. By about 1960 that was thought a bit rude and direct so we spoke of coloured people. Then it went back to ’black’ because that’s what we thought they wanted (I don’t like the use of ‘they’ in the context of any people). I was certainly told by a black person to call him black, so I did.” This rings true for a part of my childhood in the 80’s when I was told in no uncertain terms that I could not call a person black as it was not just rude it was being racist! And that I should use the word coloured, a terminology that didn’t and doesn't sit well in my mind, just as the current term of ‘person(s) of colour’ sits equally as divisive in my mind. But I understand it’s use in the UK’s context form differing age groups as the thought of “PC” term. That is where I can see Nat’s use of coloured coming from when he struggled to recall Colin Salmons name, so people then demanding an apology runs counter to my thoughts of his understanding of being inoffensive. On that, I will leave this subject as is and will not comment on it again as the whole thought of the apparent want of the human race to divide, separating it’s self in a seemingly never-ending circle of hate and offence that is the language of separatism. It is poison to the mind that moves me to depression.
