jet exhaust carbon filber can withstand the heat from engine or need add some heat resistant material inside ?
@fjs111128 күн бұрын
No carbon fiber cannot resist that heat at all.. Also there is duct tape covering the brand on the controller, he didn't manufacturer this he modified some hobby RC turbine to look like he did.
@DSTEngines25 күн бұрын
Carbon fiber does not withstand direct contact with exhaust gases, or at least not for long. The CF cowling is shielded by the cold bypass air created by the fan. So there is no risk of any heat damage in this case. We have made some modifications to the combustion chamber, so flame formation during engine start is now almost completely eliminated. I hope I could help you 🙂

Do you guys have numbers on thrust/fuel consumption? Turbine effiecieny often scales with size and complexity. A small, efficient, and what looks to be cheap turbine for small aircraft would be awesome. How many hours before reman? Cost to manufacure at scale? Max thrust? Im intrigued
@ThePaulv1221 күн бұрын
It might not be thermally possible. It has been tried and tens of millions spent. Believe it or not the last that was seen of it was on the back of a homw made go kart. It failed because it was discovered it could not achieve even 60% of max thrust on days over 20deg C. It was a triple spool design iirc built by Williams. Hot and high conditions made it unable to be used at all. The holy grail for jet engines is the fuel efficient sub 15,000' GA market. On top of that compressor section pumping losses in jets are very high leading to high fuel consumption. The high fuel consumption can be offset by flying at 35,000' but there's no VFR above 20,000' so the market is small. I doubt that IC jets will ever be able to replace turboprop or piston engines but hope to be proven wrong.

@MysticalDork Жыл бұрын
The Frank Turbine FT500 has the same fuel consumption (1600ml/min) with 500N thrust as a pure turbojet. My guess is that the FT1500 core is probably similar to the FT500. This suggests a bypass ratio of probably between two and four.

@@daszieher Yes, but the Ft500 turbojet, which I was referring to, does have 500N of thrust. Go back and read my comment again.
@daszieher Жыл бұрын
@@MysticalDork I did. It is confusing. 😄 The same rotating assembly will consume more when working as a core to a turbofan in contrast to the same design working as a pure turbojet. Putting a fan won't reduce TFSC by 66%
@MysticalDork Жыл бұрын
@@daszieher >Putting a fan won't reduce TFSC by 66% Yeah, it really will. You're capturing the energy in the high velocity (often supersonic) exhaust gases and using that energy to spin a fan, to move a much large amount of air more slowly. More air more slowly is more efficient than less air faster.

@@DSTEngines High Bypass Axial Flow Gas Turbine,.... You modified an RC hobby turbojet engine and put a cover on it along with duct tape over the brand on the controller... Also that turbofan is not driven by the power turbine so it's not going to create any useful thrust, this is why it's spinning so slow on the front turbine -- no coupling/driven by intake flow. Are you kidding, you cannot sell this
