Hi, and welcome to this week's Morgaine Monday's tutorial! In this video I'll be demonstrating how I painted this lovely peaceful sunset scene.
Equipment list: I'm using some lovely 100% cotton Arches watercolour paper today, it's a smallish block measuring 18cm x 26cm or 7 inches x 10 inches. The paper is 300gsm or 140lb weight. The colours I'll be using are: Raw Sienna, Alizarin Crimson Hue, Ultramarine, Neutral Tint, and some White Gouache. The brushes I use today are a large Daler Rowney Aquafine Skyflow flat 2 inch wash brush; an Escoda Ultimo synthetic mop brush size 10; a Princeton Neptune small round brush size 4; a Winsor & Newton Cotman 19mm One Stroke flat brush; and a Pro Arte synthetic Sword liner size Small.

@@MorgaineRoseArt I have a question, I practice alot with skies lately and I always make my own blue colour mixing some different shades together. But I really want to buy some other blue tones, but which colours do you recommend? Should I buy Ultramarine or cerulean? Which one is the most suitable for a sky or should I just buy them all😁Thankyou so much for replying!🤗

@@mary.jen.40 Hi, my favourite blues for skies are ultramarine, cerulean, and cobalt blue. I don’t think there is one that’s more ‘suitable’ than the other, but these are my 3 favourites to use, and I do tend to mix them up a bit, e.g. I like cerulean mixed with a little cobalt for a bright summer sky! And I tend to use ultramarine for my sunsets. But really, it’s all down to personal preference! 😊 Thank you for your question! 💙

Dear morgaine, i love your moonlit lake . Your storytelling always draws me in . I like the wet in wet technique for the pretty sky and land. The colours are great together. Good tip with the gouache . Your brush strokes are amazing and you always achieve a great result. 🖌️😊
