Welcome back to Morgaine Mondays, everybody! This week I'm looking forward to sharing this lovely classic landscape painting with you all, of a simple wetlands scene at dusk.
Equipment list: I'm using some lovely 100% cotton Arches watercolour paper today, it's a smallish block measuring 18cm x 26cm or 7 inches x 10 inches. The paper is 300gsm or 140lb weight. The colours I'll be using are: Neutral Tint, Cobalt Blue, Raw Sienna, Alizarin Crimson Hue, Burnt Sienna, and White Gouache. The brushes I'm using are: a large Escoda Ultimo synthetic mop brush size 14; a Princeton Neptune round synthetic brush size 4; a mid-size Da Vinci Colineo synthetic flat brush size 12; a Pro Arte synthetic Masterstrokes Series 60 miniature brush size 4/0; a Pro Arte synthetic Sword Liner brush size Small; and a small Daler Rowney Aquafine Fan brush size 2.
Thank you all for watching! I hope you enjoy this video, let me know if you'd enjoy seeing me paint some more classic landscapes such as this. Wishing you all a wonderful day, and happy painting!

Oh sweet lady, this is so my type of scene. I think I love herons almost as much as you, as I have paintings of them too. I got some sword liner brushes when you did, but unlike you, I'm too heavy handed to use them effectively. Guess I need more practice, and less weight using them. I love seeing them put to good use, and giving the tall grasses reed and so on a real feel. I felt like asking my Dad for a brush, something out of the box, but I reckon he'd get me a chimney sweep... LOL ( Not really). The watery sun has such a beautiful lazy Sunday afternoon mood around it. So gentle and inviting. Just the kind of place we could plonk a deck chair down and tip a nice hot brew from a flask, sharing the moment with that special person. For me that's my precious wife.. Keep yourself wrapped up, the forecasters reckon we're in for some nasty cold stuff for a few days. Take care Morgaine. TTFN

So nice to see your process with direction of brush or particular brush choice. I was particularly interested in seeing your use of the sword liner in different ways than I've imagined. Hopefully all of these actions will be stored up in the grey matter for future use!! Thank you very much for this video.

I recently downloaded this pic and was kind of stumped how to do the foliage in the front. I figured Lois and Morgaine might have a good tutorial on foliage, and I see you have a tutorial on this exact picture! Perfect. : )

Dear morgaine, very nice scene , soft colours, easy on the eye . Great sense of distance across the lake and lovely to see your little heron friend again. The reeds really help to frame him 😊Love all your brush choices and thanks for all your commentary on the various uses of them. I am enjoying using my sword liner btw 👍😍
