the deep thing about the scene with sylvie and timely is that she was about to “prune” timely for something that he hadn’t done yet. that is the very reason she fought the tva in the first place. that’s what the tva did to her (destroyed her timeline). she gave everyone free will, so timely has the ability to do something different. his future is not written.

Your questions about what a temporal Aura is at the beginning of the video reminded me of Loki from season 1 episode 1. It's essentially someone's soul Yes, the Lake in question was Lake Michigan It's interesting that Victor Timely unwittingly said exactly what he needed to say to convince Sylvie not to kill him. Her whole Dogma right now is that the future has not been written and he played right into that.

What made Sylvie come to her senses is she was going to kill Timely to prevent him from MAYBE doing the all the bad things in the future. But that would be just how Sylvie was captured as a girl and her timeline pruned even before she could do anything bad. In fact was treated like a criminal b/c she was on track to being a "good" Loki.

19:28 pretty awesome scene; Sylvie having to decide if she is going to kill Victor for what he might become, robbing him of his free will the same way the TVA tried to do to her. I think maybe Miss Minutes’ secret about Ravonna is she use to be a lot more involved with He Who Remains and the founding of the TVA but got cast aside and mind-wiped. The recording of He Who Remains and Ravonna that Loki found in episode 1 while he was time-sliding was in the past.

I think there will be a reason why we only heard audio of the HWR/Renslayer exchange and not actual video. Note how out of character the conversation is - Ravona sounds very different, someone not just in love with HWR but willing to be given power than simply seize it. And HWR would never offer someone a partnership, especially after they have fulfilled their usefulness.

Yep, my favourite theory right now is that she’s a Kang variant who sided with HWR during the time war. After they won, HWR ‘rewarded’ her by wiping her memory and putting her in charge of the TVA under a new identity. It would be a nice parallel to the Loki/Sylvie relationship - and might actually be the reason why HWR wanted it to come down to two Loki variants at the final showdown in the Citadel, to repeat what happened when he took the throne.

Ouroboros stated that pruning someone removed them from time itself. But only that specific individual. After all, countless Loki variants had already been pruned and the Sacred Timeline Loki still existed. Also, the MCU Loki was probably never venerated. Baldur/Balder the God of Light was presumably invented by Christian scribes writing down the old previously oral folklore and mythological ballads and tales at a time Scandivania was being christianized, because Baldur only "exists" in a single story in the Norse Edda (the one he dies in and his mother fails to get him resurrected from Hel). And why would Norsemen have a god of light, living as they were in regions where the winters are long and the sun doesn't appear at all for weeks or months and is thus weak? Instead the Norse pantheon had several gods of battle, warfare, etc. Heck, Loki was called the God of the Hearthfire in one story in the Prose Edda, never the God of Mischief (even though he clearly was a Trickster).
@DeathStarKitty
@DeathStarKitty Жыл бұрын
@@TF2CrunchyFrog Ok but we're talking about the MCU in the context where Loki is real and has interacted with humans throughout history, not the mythology we know from our reality. So Loki not being there and replaced by a character not already in the MCU makes it a both something for Loki to comment on as if it was nothing and be a bigger thing later on. Also, if you watch Ep1 again, you'll see the tether that is shot into the timestream is aimed before the loom so removing "Loki" from the raw time before the loom might mean he doesn't exist in any timeline after it. Pruning himself was to eliminate the paradox of two Lokis from different points in the same timeline existing at the same time. If future Loki interacted with past Loki it would create new memories that would drive future Loki insane very quickly.

No, . We know that the standard Kang(s) are all born in the 31st century on Earth, and He Who Remains clearly stated in his little history lesson to Loki and Sylvie that he had been a scientist in the 31st century! He was simply the one who emerged victorious after the big time war, and then made sure no other Kangs would ever exist again by pruning them. But the fact it happens on the Sacred Timeline _is_ important: It means Victor Timely is a variant but he _can't_ have been born there in 19th century Chicago. He must've been brought there as a baby. Notice how he seems to have no parents as a boy, he is an orphan in a slum. Miss Minutes said He Who Remains _planned_ this as a back-up failsave plan: He placed his variant there, Victor Timely, so he would.... do what? Take over the TVA? Save the TVA with his aura?

@@TF2CrunchyFrog No he did not "clearly state" that he had been a scientist in the 31st century. I ask that everyone rewatch that scene. Victor Timely is definitely not pure of heart. Loki spotted him for what he is and stated it aloud: Victor is a con-man, a fraudster. He took the knowledge from the TVA handbook but he neither had the technology available to build such items described inside the handbook, nor did he have the education available to understand such advanced ideas of future physics. He was a poor black body in mid-19th century Chicago slums. He took this book, it filled his mind with ideas of being special and chosenm but also the frustration to not be able to make thing _real._ So he used it to con people to make money.

You probably have heard of Baldrr and the story of the mistletoe. Baldr and dreams he was going to die. He was beloved by all the gods. So Frigga went around asking all things to never harm her son Baldr. Animals, plants, stone, etc all agreed never to harm him. And for a time for amusement people would hit him with iron swords, wooden arrows and all would bounce off him leaving him unharmed. Except mistletoe was overlooked or Loki tricked them into overlooking it. Loki noticed the blind god Hother who wasn't participating shooting at Baldr, and so Loki gave him a bow and an arrow made of mistletoe and directed him toward Baldr. Hother shot and the mistletoe pierce Baldr's heart killing him. Some accounts go Frigga had the gods council bring him back to life, giving each a kiss to do this. but not before getting the promise from mistletoe as well. Which some attribute the mistletoe and a kiss going together to this. So of course Loki doesn't want his story told... he got him killed. Wonder if they are going to go more into the comic story of Ravonna.

@TF2CrunchyFrog Жыл бұрын
Baldur/Balder the God of Light & his blind brother Hödr were presumably invented by Christian scribes writing down the previously orally transmitted folklore ballads and mythological tales at a time Scandivania was being christianized, because Baldur only "exists" in a single story in the Norse Edda: the one he dies in and his mother fails to get him resurrected from the Underworld (Hel) like a failed Jesus. Baldur is never mentioned anywhere else. Baldur's mother wanted her son to be invulnerable and immortal and thus went around the world demanding that everyone and every thing swore they would never hurt her previous son (except she forgot the mistletoe because she regarded that parasitic plant as unimportant). Loki found out and thought it funny to give a dart or arrow made from mistletoe to Hödur to throw, not expecting Baldur to die from it. But that plothook makes no damn sense in Viking culture that praised death in battle and where men feared dying "the straw death": meaning dying on the straw-stuffed mattress of one's bed in old age and infirmity. The Vikings believed that women, children, and men who died not from battle would be sent to the cold dark boring Underworld of Hel, instead of to Valhalla to dine with the gods. such a culture would regard the idea that Frigga wanted her son to be invulnerable in battle as cowardly!! His mother Frigg/Frigga didn't go to a "council of gods" because such a thing didnt exist. She went to the goddess Hel/Hela (a daughter of Loki) and petitioned her to release Baldur's soul from the Underworld. Hel agreed, provided Frigg could get every living thing to cry for Baldur. But the only person who refused to shed tears was an old crone on Midgard. (Even the narrator of the story has doubts if that was Loki shapeshifted into an old woman, or just some old nasty woman.) So Baldur stayed in Hel. And why would Norsemen have a god of light, living as they were in regions where the winters are long and the sun doesn't appear at all for weeks or months and is thus weak? Instead the Norse pantheon has several gods of battle, warfare, magic. The Norse Loki, while clearly a Trickster god, is never called The God of Mischief in the Edda (that's a Marvel comic book invention, same with Marvel Loki's helmet with the "devil" horns!). In the Prose Edda, he is in one story called the God of the Hearthfire and in another he was the god who invented things like the fishing net and taught it to humans. There is another detail that hint that the whole Baldur story was shoehorned in: The ending explains that Baldur's death would start Ragnarök, the Twilight of the Gods when the dead will rise from Hel, the Giants will march on Asgard, the Fenriswolf and his sons will swallow the sun and moon etc. The gods for some reason blamed Loki for Baldur's death, not Hödur. The story then seques into the story of Loki being bound and chained to the rock, with chains that would only break once Ragnarök came about.... But wait a minute, if this only happens _after_ Baldur is already dead and Ragnarök has already started, then it would mean Loki gets release instantly? This makes no sense, because the whole story of Loki being bound to a rock and tortured (like Prometheus, who stole fire from the Greek gods and gave it to humans) originally was the sequel to the ending of a poem ballad called the _Lokasenna_ in which Loki crashes a party held by Heimdall for the gods but Loki was the only one not invited. Loki turns up in Heimdall's hall anyway and proceeds to verbally roast everyone present and brag how he consentually slept with multiple goddesses while their husbands were not home. Until the assembled gods and goddesses got angry and threatene to kill him, so he fled to Midgard (with his Aesir wife and two sons). But the gods eventually found him, killed his sons, used their entrails to make magical chains to bind Loki to a rock and hung a snake above him that dripped poison into his eyes. His wife stayed with him, catching the drops in a bowl, but whenever she went outside to empty the bowl the pain would make Loki writhe in his chains, shaking the earth (which is how earthquakes were explained). His chains only broke, as prophecied, when Ragnarök began. So we have two stories with the same endings, but the Baldur version makes no logical sense.

the little suggestion of Balder/Baldr - there's a tiny moment with Tom Hiddleston. One of the most famous myths of Loki is that he was responsible for the death of Baldr, the most beautiful and loved of the Norse gods. But that's the ultimate thing about mythological Loki - he (they) bring about Ragnarok, the ultimate destruction of Asgard. Perhaps they are more like the variants of He Who Remains than they want to admit - it certainly could explain why Brad's words about him making everything worse hit home.

My explanation of an aura is to point out to people that according to high school physics, an electrical current in motion generates a magnetic field. This is the basis behind radio transmissions throughout the 20th Century. The human nervous system is electrical currents in motion, such that the human body is surrounded by a unique, constantly fluctuating magnetic field. In this way, the human CNS is a radio transceiver with the longest antenna array ever conceived and produces a radio transmission that is transparent to any antenna array that is not of a similar length.

@funnylilgalreacts, 2:25 There isn't "one main timeline," as time isn't leaner. Phase Four MCU and Sony projects have been trying to tell us that through their stories. Sylvie's branched timeline is set in the 1980s while the the core MCU movies are in the year 2026. Sylvie's branched timeline and Universe 616 (U616), the story the MCU is set in, are taking place at the exact same time, but like branches on a tree, they do not grow at the same rate. Some branches are farther ahead, while others are farther behind. Loki Season One's penultimate episode showed us numerous Loki Variants, but we only need to look at Teen Loki, U616 Loki, and Classic Loki to see this. Why are they all different ages? They were all pruned relatively at the same time since time doesn't mean much to the TVA. They were all pruned at the moment of their Nexus Event, just as U616 was pruned from his. They are all at different points in their stories and ages because time isn't leaner. We see this elsewhere too, and I think the Spider-Verse did it best because, well, it's a Spider-Man Variant story. Gwen has been a Spider-Man Variant just a little longer than Miles, whereas Peter B. Parker has been Spider-Man for two decades! The Peter Parker Miles replaced was Spider-Man for 10 years, and if you look at the latest movie, Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian Peter Parker Variant, he's only been Spider-Man for 6 months--all of these characters exist at the same time. Their universes might be a little or much farther ahead than others. 3:04 Temporal aura. Do you remember the machine Loki was told to walk through and he had a bit of an existential crisis when he wondered if he was a robot and didn't know it? A variant's temporal aura is the only surefire way for the TVA to identify variants, as variants don't always look the same. The sacred timeline is a collection of infinite universes all woven into a single stream of energy via the temporal loom. The Sacred Timeline is the Multiverse, and the Multiverse is an infinite copy of the same universe. All of the universes in the Multiverse are variants of the same universe! This is why we are seeing variants of characters we know and love in other stories living out similar lives with variances elsewhere in Marvel stories. Remember Peter 1, Peter 2, and Peter 3 in No Way Home? They are all Peter Parkers living at the exact same time in their own universes and they are at different stages of their lives, and the way they make webs isn't exactly the same either. They don't look the same, and while they all share typical Spider-Man traits, the only way the TVA would be able to confirm that they are indeed a Spider-Man Variant is to see their temporal aura. They might look physically different, but their temporal aura is exactly the same! Temporal auras, apparently, a better than fingerprints and DNA. The TVA needs Miss Minutes who has administrative access to the TVA or a variant of He Who Remains to override the TVA systems to open the blast doors so that OB can enlarge the Temporal Loom's receptor. 4:24 Yup! I guess we now know why He who Remains was so confident about his return. He always existed on the Sacred Timeline! He just existed at a time that lacked the resources to power the things he saw in his head. 5:41 We knew this was going to happen, as we saw the Temporal Loom worse off when Loki jumped to the future. Branches on the Sacred Timeline are like wild weeds. With a curator at the end of time tending to HWR's duties, the branches are going to keep growing. 9:42 Maybe, but maybe he is the way he is because of what he looks like. It's hard being Black man in the US now. I can't even begin to imagine what that was like in 1893, 28 years after slavery was abolished. Americans didn't exactly welcome Black people into society, imagine how hard it must have been for a highly intelligent black man to be taken seriously or considered at all even back then. Does Victor speak the way he does because of adversity? He's as eccentric to me as HWR was last season, so much so that I think they are one and the same. The only difference I see between them is that HWR was very confident in himself, something Victor didn't really have until he got more confirmation on his future from Miss Minutes and Ravonna. 9:51 Here we have a wealthy white man trying to take advantage of him--how often do you think that happened? Victor was smart enough to see through this and already had a scheme in place to take advantage of him first, lol. 10:41 For someone who doesn't do partners, he sure did pay his partner (shill) for his help selling his device at a higher rate. 15:30 Is that really true, though? We saw the Council of Kangs at the end of Quantumania. HWR wanted both Loki and Sylvie to partner with him at the end of last season. Kang in Quantumania partnered with Janet van Dyne and was going to honor his end of the deal until Janet betrayed him. What about episode of Loki Season Two? We heard HWR talk about his partnership with Ravonna. Victor's variants always seem to get betrayed by those they've entrusted, I can see why they don't want to partner with people. 16:50 Don't think about JUST this moment. Do you remember the water rings Mobius asked Ravonna about last season? She assured Mobius that they were from his last visit when they had a drink, but the recording we heard at the start of this season, points to a relationship between HWR and Ravonna. How far back does their relationship go? HWR confirmed that Rovonna was crucial to winning the Multiversal War, which was BEFORE the TVA. Miss Minutes makes it sound like Ravonna came along much later, but did she really? Miss Minutes was given autonomy and the ability to write her own programming, and like humans trying to become like the gods they worship, Miss Minutes did everything she could to be human, feelings and all. Miss Minutes spent eons with HWR, and as living AI with feelings she's grown attached to her creator, and she's very jealous of the only woman he has had eyes for, Ravonna. While Kang saw to the Sacred Timeline from afar, Ravonna took care of the day-to-day work at the TVA, as we saw last season. Something yet to be explained along the way, Ravonna lost her memory like everyone else, though we didn't know that at the time. Who has administrative access to the TVA again? Why did HWR who was in good health want to just give up? Why did he want Ravonna specifically to go on this mission to bring him back to the TVA? Was he trying to recreate a love story forgotten by one? What happened at the TVA, the erasure of memories is likely permanent. HWR, however can be reborn an infinite number of times, and he has the ability do things over again, including his meeting with Ravonna. I think his death and resurrection is an elaborate scheme to bring back his one true love. How's Miss Minutes going to take that? Is she going to become the real villain in this story? Something much worse than Kang? She knows everything he knows, how he found Alioth and what not. I wouldn't be surprised if Galactus introduction to the MCU is Miss Minutes doing. 18:41 She doesn't remember HWR thanking her. We heard him thank her for joining his team in the first episode. 19:10 He Who Remains Variants won't bring branches back together. Branches are growing because no one is minding the Sacred Timeline. The TVA was charged with stop the natural flow of time from trying to make course corrections, Nexus Events. HWR made sure that branches didn't happen naturally on their own and out of control. The moment he stopped doing his job and making his pitch to Sylvie and Loki branches started to grow on the Sacred Timeline. My guess is, without Ravonna in his life, he no longer wanted to live. Even though he said he didn't know how things were going to playout, he was sure that he would return. Why because without him tending to the Sacred Timeline, and Victor being part of the Sacred Timeline, he knew that he would indeed return along with all his variants. He'd get to do everything all over again, perhaps win Rovonna's love again too. 20:28 if HWR is indeed Victor Timely, I agree with you. This is a do over, but how did the original story happen? I imagine the MCU is going to borrow Biff's story from Back to the Future, but with some changes. Victor is a man way beyond the the era he lives in. I image a much older version of himself successfully built that time travel chair to visit his younger self, creating the first branched timeline unbeknownst to himself. Upon meeting himself and feeling himself in on all that he had learned, he likely died soon after, leaving a younger version of himself to do all the things he never go to do. Victor wasn't an evil man, but a curious one. I suspect that once he learned of his variants and all the damage they were actually causing that he tried to remove them, which kicked off the Multiversal War, effectively betraying himself this time. He Who Remains let people on the Sacred Timeline live out their lives, he just made sure he wasn't part of it and they he never would be. Yes, people got pruned, but that person pruned didn't exactly die, as their temporal aura still existed albeit in a different universe. 20:59 Is her secret real or a lie? Miss Minutes is in the position to pit Ravonna against Victor, which IS what she wants. With Ravonna out of the picture, Victor is hers again. What a story! I'm curious to see if what I said is how this will all play out.

Yes, it worries me that the pre-season trailers shows more "spaghettification", with Sylvia in one scene looking at the strings. We dont know if it's Loki who gets spaghettified, or someone else, but considering he was already timeslipping once, this doesnt bode well.

As always, great reaction video! Nathaniel Richards (Kang-Prime) is from the 31st-century. At some point in that time, he discovers the Space Time Platform of Doctor Doom. From there come all Kang-variants. We have to ask: how did a CHILD variant of Nathaniel Richards get planted in the Sacred Timeline, 1860s? He Who Remains had to put him there. Did he wipe his child-variant's memories? Note how we see no parents. Does He Who Remains want to restart from an innocent place? Not all Nathaniel Richards' variants are KANG-VARIANTS. You can kind of lump all his variants into two groups: 1) variants of Nathaniel Richards AFTER he discovers the Time Platform = Kang Variants. 2) variants of Nathaniel Richards BEFORE he discovers the Time Platform (i.e., before he became or sought to become Kang). An example of this in the comics would be Iron Lad.

I went into Loki S1 with a blank slate. The initial world building was great, but it kind of lost me when they recruited Loki to help fight this "Uber villain" variant of himself, who ended up being Sylvie. S1 kept making perplexing narrative choices, but I tried keeping an open mind and keeping up. I managed to catch back up by alligator-Loki. S2 looks to be as anti-intuitive, but I fear the multiversal morass is going to produce an omniversal mess before all is said and done.

I had some thoughts about the episode, and many suggestions about the next episodes !!!!!!!!! Victor was on the Sacred Timeline, but only one variant per timeline and that Rainslayer created a Nexus Event giving the handbook thus the Branched Timeline, which led me to think about more about the recording Loki heard about and Miss Minutes telling the big secret about He Who Remais, based on those facts I realized He Who Remais never pruned his variants post the Multiversal War, he, actually she(Revona) kidnapped them and spread them through time and use his special tin pad to maintain them on the Sacred Timeline as a plan A B C ….., after that he wiped her mind !!!!!!!!!!!!! And Victor was just one of the many who are there !!!!!!!!!!!

Balder the brave is one of the major gods in the norse pantheon, and a main character in the Thor corner of marvel comics. He was cut from the MCU for the sake of streamlining the cast. Between the mythological Odin, Frigga, Loki, Sif and Heimdall, plus the marvel creations, the Warriors three, thesupporting cast was getting cluttered. Personally, I'd prefer to replace the Warriors three with Balder in the MCU franchise, maybe a reference here and there of their adventures offscreen... it'd be tidier, and more faithful to the mythology. Aobut the characters' motivations: team Loki and team Renslayer (however many there are in that team) have very different views about wehatto do with the TVA. Renslayer wants to restore the TVA to its' original mandate, with her on the top of the food chain. Team Loki is scrambling to deal with short term emergencies. They don't havethe time to define a long term goal, but it's trending towards protecting the divergent timelines. Maybe keeping them separate so we don't have incursions and other timeline destroying events?

The boat scene made no sense at all. Not only is there no lake between Chicago and Wisconsin to "cross", but even if they meant that they were taking a boat "along" Lake Michigan to get up Wisconsin, the boat they were on was traveling south, as can be determined by watching the coastline pass in the background from left to right. What a very weird thing to have gotten wrong. You don't even need to live in the region to look at a map.
