"We don't know how Brad got there" We know exactly how Brad got to where he was. He literally tells us. He was given a mission to find Sylvie, abandoned his mission to go live on his this current timeline. What exactly did he do once he got there? They don't tell us outright. Judging by his longer hair, he's obviously been there for months. He either used his Tempad to get rid of the Brad on this timeline or straight up pruned him. Also, I'm not getting where all the "this episode was all over the place" comments are coming from. What do you mean? What specifically? I only bring it up because New Rockstars and ScreenCrush said exactly the same thing. To me, this episode was like a video game, it went beat for beat from one thing to the next with the characters explaining their next move. It was like classic television story telling and that's saying something for a show that has time travel. I guess I'm confused by the confusion.
@langleymneely
@langleymneely Жыл бұрын
I don’t even think he needed to prune his variant off the timeline though. It’s possible his original place on the timeline is hundreds or thousands of years removed from 1970s UK/Hollywood and he set up shop there and used his knowledge of time to manipulate events and make himself a star.
@AsherGrace7

Yeah don't see what was so confusing about Brad, he was having an existential crisis & wanted to go live the life he never had. Same as Silvie but from the other side, she was trying to fake a life that never existed to be happy

There has been a deliberate and intentional effort by nerd influencers like NR and SC to change how they present their takes, reactions etc. It's all been overtly negative and annoyingly sarcastic. In generally I feel like channels like Kristian's steer clear of any of that bs, but it does seem odd that's he so against the public opinion on this episode. More reason to like the guy tbh he's just doing his thing

Loved this episode. Not seeing what you guys saw at all. X5 aka Brad was fine to me. He didn’t bother me at all and seemed like the same character as ep 1. There was ONE sponsorship and that was McDonald’s and it worked and also made sense. It wasn’t like they had to go out of their way and compromise character and story just to squeeze in McDonald’s. I mean they’re on Earth - they can’t see any Earth brands while on Earth? Don’t see the issue. I really wish I could see what the problem is that you guys saw but at the same time I’m very happy that I absolutely cannot.

I guess we are just going to be very different on this because I think it's pretty clear what the season is about. It's about correcting the wrongs of what happened in the first season and also to figure out what is going on with Kang. The timelines are in jeopardy because of what happened and because Sylvie messed up. I do think she's going to recognize her faults and I understand where she's coming from because Loki didn't experience what she did. Also like you kept saying I don't think the McDonald's thing was that bad. It was in the show for maybe not even 5 or so minutes and it's not like they dropped a line of dialogue about Mobius saying it was a "happy meal" or something.
@bctalkspod
@bctalkspod Жыл бұрын
Agreed, also I just watched the episode & Mobius never mentions happy meal he says "enjoying a meal like gentleman" and also when they first walk in he says he wants apple pie, which they just had key lime pie like 10 mins before so that's consistent with his character lol There was nothing excessive or anything that changed or affected the plot with the sponsorship. It was barely a sponsorship in the first place, you could have interchanged Mickey D's with any restaurant and the plot would remain the same

I think it's funny how in reviews, Marvel Humor went from being described as a stylistic MCU choice, One to rapid fire not super funny jokes to appeal to wider audience. One that according to the reviews at the time doesn't work in whichever franchise was being reviewed. And now gets reverse applied to the MCU itself as a criticism. Fascinating.

It’s not Sylvie’s fault the people in the branches are dying. It’s because of her that they’re alive in the first place. The fact that they got obsessed with finding Sylvie instead of investigating the TVA’s over the top response in trying to find Sylvie that lead to almost all the branches getting pruned.

Not the TVA. DOX's team which are outlaws of the TVA. They didn't prune the timelines to find Sylvie. They pruned them because they're afraid of Kang - they still believe in their original mission.

@@jonmc6573I didn’t say they pruned them to find her, but they mobilized all those agents under the guise of finding Sylvie. And the one agent even said in episode 1 that he didn’t buy they were mobilizing all those agents just to find Sylvie. My only issue with this episode was that it felt like there was a missing episode between this and episode one, we took quite a big leap forward with everyone's plot lines. Other than that though it was great. A couple lines from Mobius enjoying McDonalds didn't ruin it for me. Oh and the timeline pruning at the end also didn't really hit me. It was just lines on a screen. I think we needed to see some of those other timelines being destroyed. Maybe ones we're familiar with like that version of NYC they visited in Multiverse of Madness.

I think people seem to get distracted about how this is a story and it’s a continuation. It can’t be perfect. It’s impossible, it has to ebbs and flow, can’t be the same thing every episode. This episode might’ve have been a little less detailed but I think this was more of a mystery more of a doctor who type of episode. It focus on the twist that was the ending. That ending it hard with how the tva rogue agents just demolished All these time lines. I thought it brought the episode where it needed to be. Then the “b story line” was just setting up how we get our next kang. I think it did it’s job. Advancing the story which is get us to the next kang and how Loki going to try and stop the “kangs” overall.

The good cop/bad cop logic took me out of the episode when Brad was supposed to believe the door locked from the inside preventing Mobius from helping yet Brad didn’t try unlocking the door while Loki fumbled with the machine.
@chrisf5828

Brad never left the center area of the room in any direction in the interogation scenes even though he appeared to only be handcuffed. The fact that he did not head for the door or head toward Loki who was setting up the machine strongly suggests that something had been lost in the edit. There must have been some storytelling demonstration in the first interrogation that he could not leave the square area in the middle if the room -- probably walking toward someone and having the big electronic collar they had him in buzz, shock him, strangle him... whatever it is that happens if he tried to walk too far.

You made it seem like this episode was Boba Fett level bad. I didn't see any issue with it. It moved the story along, we found Sylvie and had some good action. The entire 1977 scene at the start was really good. The interrogation scene has great dialogue between all parties. It seems like something was missing at the start. Why did they decide to go to the sacred timeline and back to 1977? How did they figure out everything? I'm guessing some of the upcoming episodes will explain it but it's not a big deal if they don't. Overall a good episode. Consistent 50 min runtimes for the first two episodes has really been a plus as well.

My main question is if they’re ever going to differentiate between alternate universes and alternate timelines. Because Doctor Strange clearly went to an alternate universe where everything is different than the sacred timeline and it was never pruned. I feel the TVA is guarding one timeline within a single universe and that all the branches would simply be alternate timelines of the same universe and then on a grander scale we have infinite alternate universes with the same infinite amount of alternate timelines.
@darnell9806
@darnell9806 Жыл бұрын
The way I understand it is universe and timeline can be used interchangeably. The sacred timeline isn’t just one universe, it’s all the universes/timelines that don’t produce a Kang. That’s why it looks like a bunch of lines woven together.
@MrCorey213
@MrCorey213 Жыл бұрын
I think the timelines are alternate universes and every alternate universe is a branched timeline from the MCU 616. If having one sacred timeline was supposed to stop the other Kangs from starting a Multiversal war then the branching timelines have to be other universes where those Kangs come from. We saw the same interpretation of branching timelines in the Quantumania post credit scene with the other Kangs.

Another good ep imo cant wait for more. Happy with tht intro chase scene. Loki finally not a joke. Couldnt believe morbious prn lvl acting when locked outside the door lmao I find Americans so sensitive to products. For us outside we only know of many products because of American tv shows. So its kinda normal for us

Yeah regarding the episode I couldn’t disagree more with you all. I thought ep 2 was great! The only thing I can agree with is what Winston said about the billions designation, but otherwise I was at a total loss hearing you say the comedy was over the top and goofy along with the acting? Like those criticisms never crossed my mind for a second while watching. I actually really dig this episode because it possibly hints at some ideas and theories I have regarding the plot of Loki moving fwd into Deadpool 3, Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Forgive me in advance to anyone crazy enough to read all this shit!? 😜 I think Kang fell in love with Ravonna Renslayer during his conquest of time and discovered that her timeline and possibly everyone in the TVAs were being destroyed by multiversal convergences (shown in Dr Strange 2). Kang decides in order to conquer time and save his love he creates the TVA and mandates the myth of the “Sacred Timeline”, one timeline in which he rules. The Sacred Timeline is NOT a real thing, it’s propaganda to ensure the TVA variants continue to do the “right” thing and prune timeline offshoots that could threaten Kangs dominion forever. Once Loki and the TVA let the multiverse grow back into it’s natural non “sacred” state we will then discover that the bigger threat teed up for Secret Wars is the convergence of every timeline thanks to the Beyonders. I think by the time we get to Deadpool 3 we learn that the FoX-Men universe is being wiped out, either because of events in this episode or because of future convergences where it collides with other timelines. In the midst of that Deadpool & maybe Wolverine find a way to timeline hop, trying to outlast the destruction going from world to world and Fox variant to variant. Thats how you get all the reported FoX character cameos. It all ultimately ends with Deadpool somehow in the MCU 616 moving fwd. I may be off base but eventually what Kang is/has done to the multiverse is going to butt up against the issue of multiversal convergences in Secret Wars, just need to find a through line for it?

Would love to hear the thoughts of the Capes and Cowls people on the superhero show "Moving" on Disney+/Hulu. Marvel shows are getting all the attention even though there seasons are getting very mixed reviews but "Moving" has been getting great reactions. I thought it was great seeing something different to the usual stuff we've been getting.

I liked the episode for the most part and most things worked for me. The stakes at the end didn’t seem to be high and we were expected to just be invested about all the pruned people. It wasn’t earned.

What a fun episode. I do agree with the table mostly. Think the pacing and writing for this episode was lazy and lackluster in comparison to the series at large. I also fall in the majority though that think Wonka does not look great and I LOVE Paddington.
