I think I figured out why the OMG dolls from the last couple of years are so popular with so many adults, as well as kids. It's because they're doing what Mattel used to do 15-40 years ago. Remember how, way back when, Mattel released companion material with their dolls? Like how there were cassettes and VHS tapes and that kind of thing? Barbie and the Rockers had an album and a TV special. The workout Barbies had workout tapes. MGA is kind of doing that with the OMG dolls, but in a modern way with having the "concert" on KZbin, and the dance moves you can learn. They're bringing the consumer into the dolls' universe and making kids and adults interact with the dolls instead of them just being a one off thrill that gets tossed to the side after the first day. This realization is also what made me realize why Mattel is struggling. This is what they're lacking in their lines nowadays, that interactive quality that makes you take time to get to know the doll and their world, so to speak. The interactive parts of their dolls are either a single use, or get boring very quickly, and people lose interest. Mattel, please take note. It's not that people are bored with Barbie. It's just that she stopped being interactive with the people who love her.
@MissEddieBlueKawaiiKrafts3 жыл бұрын
Omg I had those Barbie tapes when I was little! Side A was the song in English side B was the song in French, I still know one of the French ones off by heart “salut California, tout le monde et beinvenue, ooh California ooh California salut” 😹😹 no idea why but I can’t remember the English version 😅😋

She’s most definitely Marie Antoinette and rococo period inspired. They used to powder their hair pastel colors, wear fake beauty marks in shapes on their faces, panniers to make their dresses fuller, and the shape of her top with the bows is reminiscent of the shape of the stays under the gowns worn back then :)

Oh I was thinking she'd be like ballroom dance haha, but vogue is such a clever idea! Vogue is part of "ballroom culture," so I guess she's from a different kind of ballroom haha. Plus ballroom culture is a very black/latino lgbt+ scene so I'm glad she's got a darker skin tone. Edit: Yeah, I don't think the shawl is working either. Maybe if it was built to attach on her back, wrap around her upper arms, and then fall to a dramatic knee-length or something. But I think it'd still get lost in the similarly-colored bell sleeves. Maybe it should've been a train that went under her cage-skirt or something to bring the yellow into her lower half more. I dig the masquerade mask idea too, probably should've given her that as an accessory, but I guess they wanted some kind of blacklight reveal.

@@user-lw9ut2ms6m Thank you! As a dancer I hate seeing people think Madonna invented vogue! I don't know about this one, she may look a lot prettier in person but for now I'm a little bit disappointed. She doesn't look at all like her siblings unless she's adopted, a half sister, or a stepsister but MGA hasn't given us any reason to think that. If I was just shown a picture of this doll with no prior knowledge as to who her sister was, I would have guessed she was Suppa Star's big sister. When I heard that Royal Hiney was getting a big sister I was picturing a beautiful Rococo style doll with fair skin (like her younger siblings), satin and brocade and lace, curly hair and feather accessories. They didn't go far enough with the French Rococo vibes for me and her color palette is all over the place I think the problem for me is the yellow. Like I said, she may be much prettier in person but for now I have my reservations. And remember that this is my personal opinion and if you love everything about this doll then good for you.
