I follow g2 since 2017 and i watch as many games possible LEC, MSI or Worlds. Huge respect to him but over the last years he went from CAPS to CaPs to caps. Thas his own statement. Iam not talking about one tournament iam talkin about his development over the last past years.

Yike and BB were good this tournament. Yike looked better than GenG's and BLG's jungler even though he is rookie. BB was on level and competed with his eastern counterparts too, even though he did make some crucial mistakes sometimes. These 2 players I'm content with. Caps was a major disappointment. No where near the level he has shown he can play. It would even be fair to say G2 could've gotten a surprise win over GenG if not for the gargantuan mid gap. Hans Sama plays good 1 game and then bad 3 games. He gets caught really easily and forces too much sometimes. A big let down from what was expected of him. Mikyx, I can't really bring myself to talk bad about him. Pressed the int button a bit much this tournament, but as support sometimes you can't play just for trying to pick up the slack of your team. I think he would've performed a lot better if Caps and Hans were better too. G2 as a team is the best Western team I think, even if they finished last LEC split 4th. They can play with eastern teams competitively, but they have a huge glaring weakness. They always lose in big fights, especially in front of the baron and dragon. Seen it against GenG, seen it against BLG. They are ahead in gold and everything, and if the team fight goes their way it's insta win, but it dosn't happen.

It’s the spacing, the map control and macro decision taken by them, the insane tf and how they manage to keep the gold lead at arms length all the time even from behind. And this is just the second seed… omg like it’s so obvious that they play this game so differently… Yet even they loss G2 wormed my heart with that performance, especially yike. Yes Bb threw that game 2 tf at the end with the miss-click on stop watch but daamn they did fight back what so ever. As a long term G2 fan I am proud of you boys. You tried your best and you brought us really interesting games. I hope G2 won't replace Caps or anyone. Yes, this year Caps ain't in best condition, but still he is young and he is really talented. Plus one bad season shouldn't mean kick out of G2. I believe that he will find his form back. This team has potentional. This was their 1st big tournament together, they just need to work more, so they will be playing better as a team. T1 has same roster past few years and it works, cause the players know each other. 2019 G2 was succes, cause the chemistry between the players was insanely high and I believe, that this roster can reach that spot also. Some people were saying "BB out, he is trash" few months ago and now same people cherish him. I believed in him since he came in G2 and I won't stop. Same with Caps, same with Miky, same with Yike and Hans. With Yike I was little bit sceptical, because he was supposed to be substitute for the best jungler EU ever produced, but after few first games I knew, he will be great. Also Jankos said it. Caps looks like there is something going on in his head/life, so just give him space and chance to get his form back. Players are humans in the end and they have their own lifes and problems. They are not machines. Even the best ones have bad seasons (Rekkles, Canyon even Faker). Also this is first season without Jankos's leadership, which is also important. Don't get me wrong, BB is doing such a great work as a current leader, but still Jankos was important piece of G2 and it needs time to get used to the fact, that he is not around anymore to make calls. So keep your heads up boys, we will come back stronger! EDIT: Also we didn't get stomped. Tbh most of the games were even and we played well compared to other western teams, but we kinda lost our breath during the games and LPL/LCK teams took advatages of that. We just need to practise little bit more, so we can catch those eastern teams. Congratz to BLG and other eastern teams. I hope the best team will win MSI.

This is so sad. LEC teams keep falling further and further behind. They need remember that they'll never beat LPL and LCK teams if they try to copy them. Also LPL and LCK teams practice one thing 1000 times. LEC teams don't practice like that, this is why they should never copy them. The only way to win against them is to fully embrace the creative style. Both G2 and M5/Gambit were really good when they didn't copy but tried their own unique styles. This is why LEC needs new coaches who are not afraid to go against the global meta 🤔🤔🤔

The creative style doesn't work anymore... Europe develops some kind of cheese strat, and LCK and LPL learn to utilize it within a MAXIMUM of 2 weeks. Back in the day, LCK and LPL were way slower when it came to catching up with the western creativity, but now the east is extremely fast at adapting. We don't possess the surprise factor with teams such as G2 and Fnatic. Those times are waaaaayyy passed us.

The big difference I've observed here is how well LPL LCK AD carries play. They're aggressive enough when needed, but play super cautiously while enemy CC is off cooldown. That situational awareness to step back at critical moments and realise that yes they aren't doing persistent damage earlier in the fight, but they outlive the enemy ADC then just pump damage and snowball at the end. This is also assisted by their supports, who use their cooldowns effectively. Great example of why G2 doesn't do this well is game 3 where hans was frequently going in for damage at every chance, which would be fine if his allies used their cooldowns for peel and protect. mikyx just using braum e early in the fight, literally the 1 tool that is needed to protect hans just gets blown, then the rest of the fight ends predictably, the CD isn't back up until hans is 1 hit from death. This is the biggest gap here, and you can see Ruler and Elk's masterful positioning and knowledge of defence and dodge while enemy CC is up. Until other regions can learn this, they will always be inferior to LCK and LPL. Doesn't matter how well your other lanes play, you lose your ADC before your enemy, you blow all your CDs unsuccessfully trying to kill their ADC, gg it's over red rover.

I completely disagree with the majority of the comments. G2 are in my opinion not the best Western team at all. The only two games they took against the Eastern teams were when both GenG and BLG inted like crazy. Neither of their 6 loses felt close. They flip barons like crazy, depend on 50-50 situations and big mistakes by the enemy and never win early game. Pretty much their moto is: 'We play safe and solid, and if they throw... they throw...'You ain't winning nothing like that. Even in the MAD series the 3-0 feels deceptive. I got the feeling MAD throw most of the games and G2 yet again were winning more on mistakes of the enemy then them being proactive. I'm predicting them not being even in top3 EU next split and missing Worlds...

G2 definitely had the best performance out of any western team, as they always do on the international stage.
