NO WAY, a Crown Supercoach with an Automatic Transmission? How is that possible on buses like the Crown Supercoach I?
@GarbageSean4 жыл бұрын
NScale, you blew it out of the water on this one! Holy Detroit, words can't describe how much I love this bus! That sound is just incredible! But, why is there so much wind noise? I can't even hear that Detroit at high speeds! Please, please go on another ride on this joint, but be sure to get that exhaust sound, with no wind noise. And speaking of Detroits, I had a dream this morning that I found a video you posted of you following a 1986 White Xpeditor WX64 with a Heil Formula 5000 body, with a Detroit 6V92TA (a super loud one) with an Allison HT740 behind it! And the transmission had a super hardcore slip! What I loved about it was that there was absolutely no wind noise, just the pure Detroit music! Now I wish that dream video would become a reality!!

I never thought i'd hear a straight piped Detroit until that day and oh my sh#t it is off the chain fo' real! Yeah this was like my first time filming out the window and had no idea how much wind noise there would be
@GarbageSean4 жыл бұрын
@@lolfunnycp oh I've seen that one, that Detroit in those trucks were real screamers! But the Detroit in the garbage truck in my dream was way louder, about as loud as WLHVFD E282 (1988 Seagrave, which unfortunately caught on fire a few years back). And please tell me you'll get this amazing Crown again, but with no wind noise next time!

I am the current owner of this Crown and it not straight piped, but yes, it sounds delicious. Just put 900 miles on it in CO and NM and it purred the whole way. Such a fun sound in a canyon and then the jake brake! Oh baby.

Bit of a sad story for me. I was born in the 90s and I went to a private school so my memory was getting covered in HUGE clouds of smoke from these buses and wondering why they sounded like they were going to explode,As the years went by I realized these were special and i decided I had to have one. More years later I was volunteering at and for my local fair and the schools came and I wandered over and got to see one up close for the first time and look at one with the original engine and one that had a Cummins installed and the transmission replaced with an auto.(the oil pan was uncomfortably close to the ground might I add) even later my dad’s construction company was hired to do some work at the bus yard and when I went into the office there must have been 30 or 50 license plates on the wall and they told me they were either enticed with money or threatened that if they didn’t get rid of them they wouldn’t get money for new buses and it was illegal to sell them to people in California.the drivers also told me that they would rather drive their 40 year old manual transmission bus over the modern shit and I never saw one Crown broken down. At this point I gave up trying to get one but I would still love to own one but I don’t think it will happen.

NScaleTransitModels(lolfunnycp) that’s why and they think they are saving the world! My dad has 1 truck that he got a notice saying the DMV will not renew the registration next year because of that shit and he can’t afford to replace it and it just sits and it takes twice to three times the work(2003 GMC C4500) now I don’t have Facebook since I just never cared for it but I might be interested in groups that aren’t social media based. Last thing is that I’ve been trying to convince my dad that we buy a Crown together but he sees owning one as pointless but I’d drive it every weekend,put it in shows, Get the proper license and drive people around AKA have a blast!

Too bad..but the EPA can't do shit to stop the older buses with diesel./gag (without computer or automatic either L) Loved these and rode 'em too.
@SquishyZoran5 жыл бұрын
NScaleTransitModels(lolfunnycp) the only reason it sits is because I think it would be a tough sell but I live in an ag driven part of California so I could see it being used by a farm though and I’ve been trying to convince my dad that just like car shows they have all the same stuff for busses but my dad is too stubborn.I was also originally going to get a class A license for my dad’s business but I started to have seizures and it sounds like I can’t but and I’m definitely willing to try again and get my class A and a bus endorsement if I were to ever get one and learn how to take care of it myself.I found one on eBay but I’ve been trying to convince my dad for almost a month that we should get it but it sounds like my dad wants me to get rid of everything that I own which is really freaking hard!

If you want one bad enough, you might have to look out of your state and be willing to have whatever you find and settle on transported back to your home state. If it's old enough, there is probably all sorts of exemptions to allow it to be road legal, so long as it's safe to be on the roads.

Is this bus that my friend Al owned for a while in 2018? After he sold his crazy-loud ten-speed no.13 (he replaced its muffler with a piece of straight pipe just so he could enjoy the engine sound more!), he bought a five-speed automatic Crown and had the exhaust tuned for maximum noise! I drove it briefly around Phelan in 2018, and it was a blast. The 5-speed Allison MT65x meant the engine could stay in its peak power band more of the time, and it was so loud that we even got some thumbs-ups from a gaggle of Harley riders when we were taking off from a stoplight. Fun! Nothing sounds like an unmuffled Detroit's savage rasping and wailing. Definitely it's something to scare babies and old people. I'm even tempted to straight-pipe my Super II's 6V92, but it's already quite loud with its stock low-restriction Donaldson muffler. I just don't want to attract a LEO's attention with it.
