From their sexualized designs to a jealous 2B questline, that can be finished only by playing as 9S, to "you want ****/fuck/kill/hurt 2B, to a JackAss quest, that implies that fighting and killing for YorHa androids is similar to sex, to a pose in which 2B breaks 9S' neck in endings A and B, to 9S' corruption arc through routes C and D. This shit has so many layers.

Some of the short stories go a lot more into detail. 9S finds out literally every single time, so he was assigned 2E to be his partner so she could kill him every time he found out. By the start of the game she has killed 9S like 40 something times and it’s caused her mental health significant damage.

@stevesmith5883
@stevesmith5883 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, everyone see's the stars and immediately thinks its fuck. Tbf though the game does guide you toward that conclusion, with fuck/kill being the two words that it's likely to represent. Jackass's side quest actually goes into this as she talks about combat eliciting pleasure responses from YorHa combat units, so it could be taken to mean both at the same time which also frames the scenes of 2B killing 9S differently (especially the route A/B one). I'm sure there's arguments for it to be other words too though.
@MalkuthSephira
@MalkuthSephira Жыл бұрын
@@stevesmith5883 Yeah, I think the point is that whichever word it is, to YorHa androids, sometimes 'fuck' and 'kill' are functionally identical (especially with Yoko Taro stating as word of god that there's no canon for whether YorHa have genitals and it's basically up to the player to assume whatever feels correct to them)

I don’t get this. I know it’s an old comment, but ending E is as happy as anyone could ask for given the circumstances? 2B and 9S are alive with their memories so they can work through their trauma. They have the planet to themselves. A2 is alive. There is no YorHa to order them to fight anymore. They can live a normal life span rebuilding with the pods some kind of society.

I mean, leaving an extremely suicidal person alone during the worst day of their life doesn't strike me as particularly humane or as a learning experience- indeed, he will have disappeared from the game, the same as when you kill him. The implication is pretty clear. (Do note that that any of these options fits A2's character pretty well- she's come to care about Pascal, but she's can't really come up with any reasons to live herself, much less be equipped to help anyone else.)
@Brby1
@Brby1 2 жыл бұрын
@@dirtfish4405 While I agree, these are the only three options we have present. Killing Pascal puts him out of his misery and wiping his memory will most probably cause another mass suicide. If A2 leaves him, he has control of his destiny, it's not for her to make the decision for him. It would be his choice and he has to live (or die) with it.

Your reactions to everything - made even better with your editing - are always just so stinkin' funny 😂💙 I love being able to re-experience my favourite games for the "first" time through you, even if it's just repeatedly watching you gradually lose your sanity, LOOOL. BUT ALSO, YOUR EMIL IMPRESSION???? THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE 👏👏👏I'm excited to see what you play next~ 👀 (ALSO, I'd love to know which games you'd consider to be the most painful thus far, LOOOL. 😂)

I played this game in 2018 and I remember how much it broke me, after playing path A and B I was so excited about seeing how the story unveils further on, but my excitement quickly turned into depression as I had to watch 9S loosing his mind and everything kinda being destroyed...it was at this moment my friend told me that Automata isn't even the sad one

That Pascal Scene was the one that broke me when I played. I had this eerily feeling when everything was so quite walking back to the children. This game is a beauty.

definitely one of my fav Automata playthrough's I've watched! Another top tier one is when the English voice actor for 9S (frequently also joined by the English VA for 2B) played through it on stream (they should still be up on youtube). They add voice lines here and there which is fun to hear, and 2B's VA appears in cosplay for the later streams, it's cool seeing them still be into thier characters after the games release. Prepare yourself for the ending(s) of Replicant Frankie, cause it doesn't get any happier.

Fun Fact: you can actually leave Pascal to live with his memories. You just continue walking till ur out the door. I believe this is the kindest thing to do as deleting his memories is effectively the same as killing him. Letting him learn and grow I believe is the most human option you can offer him.

It's implied he kills himself if you leave him alone. Because he's suicidal.

I was hoping to see your final message to the community! also that slip up with "do you wish for them to survive" was gold great game 11/10 feelings the fact that as soon as you choose to accept the help not only you get the other ships around you but the soundtrack changes from 1 voice singing to a whole chorus of voices definitely one of the best moments in gaming and storytelling in general I'd like to think that is the goal of this game, yes the endgame is full of hardships and seems like the devs through all they could to make us feel all the P A I N but that final moment made me feel like for all the nihilism this game keeps throwing at you it leaves us with that lesson that even if nothing seems to matter in the grand scheme of things, the way we connect with others makes it matter for us and is what truly allows us to grow and evolve in a meaningful way, unlike the machines and androids who just wanted to evolve for the sake of evolving without any true meaning behind it

I don't usually watch this kind of streams, but I loved every authentic reaction to this wonderful game in this video! Never "game" felt such an important word. What was considered a toy before, now is the most complex and beautiful form of delivering a message. We live in wonderful times, despite it all, and being able to share it with the world makes them just more wonderful.

Fun fact, the sword that stabs 9s is 2bs and the hand that’s gripping it at the end is also 2b models hand that 9s had taken to replace his, in the end, she still killed him.

thank you for refreshing us the experience and emotion roller coaster as you play the game. we players finished this game cannot go back to feel the same like the first time if we played nier automata again, but watching someone to see how (like you) you laugh, cry, spooked, saddened, and enjoyed the game make me feel satisfied that Im not the only one who felt like that for this masterpiece. may 2b, 9s, and a2 continue their story in their lifetime.
