I know this video most likely will not perform well, but that doesn't matter in the slightest, this new step forwards for the channel is different, but one that is fueled by love for games, and not numbers on a page. I want all of you who have left supportive comments just how much it means to us, as videos like this are no small undertaking, and since KZbin will likely not promote them, your words mean even more, so truly, thank you for all of the support and kind words - Moses & Serp

It may not be something that clicks with established audience perhaps, but I have found your channel today thanks to this video and subbed after watching it from start to finish. I'll admit that I'm an emotional person that already tears up easily, but this game was one of the very few pieces of media that made me absolutely bawl my eyes out. I feel that it also made a genuine, lasting impact on me as a person, on how I view life and stories. It is one of those stories that upsets me with the thought that I could never write something like it, and I even got emotional again just watching your video on it, remembering every detail as you went over them. I couldn't even dare to attempt at making a video like this myself because I'd fear that nothing I say could ever really do justice to how incredible this game really is. So I respect you immensely for being able to do so. I'm glad I found this channel.

I'll never forget the story of a friend of mine: His brother was obsessed with NieR, played Automata around 20 times, always ending with the same phrase when he reset his saves. He passed away a few years ago and my friend decided to play NieR on his own PS, to see what his brother loved. As you can guess, a certain phrase and name popped up during his Ending E, because not a lot of people finish the game.

You know my favorite part of Route C isn't even the amazing storytelling, it's Kyle Mccarley's incredible performance as 9S. His breakdown is so believable, and hearing someone who we know as a constant source of hope and optimism just so cold and angry is chilling. Every line is so poignant and piercing, you can feel his pain in every word. Just breathtaking acting.
@timmy3822
@timmy3822 8 ай бұрын
I went into the game liking 2B for obvious reasons. But I really got attached to 9S by the end of the first route and then watched his progression. Until the final resolution that is and actually recoiled in horror as A2’s sword skewers him and he’s writhing around on the ground fighting for every breathe, despite seemingly hating his existence for it’s meaninglessness. It really shocked me how brutal it was. I really hope the ‘future’ that is hinted at the end of ending E is a positive one, my god the kid (and 2B) need it.

I guess no one is going to read it after 9 months, but here we go! Absolutely phenomenal video, thank you for making it and reminding me why I love this game with all my heart. But I have to point one thing. Ending C, A2's final words. She isn't joining the Ark, she destroyed the cannon and the network. So what did she mean? It's much deeper and touches what you omitted in the video. Her past. She is joining her fallen friends from Pearl Harbor Descent Mission and the Resistance girls. She is joining the dead after making revenge on the machines and losing purpose of her life. She felt that she has done what she had to do and now can go in peace. Truly heartbreaking and adds so much to the story of A2. That is why the ending is called "Meanngless code". Love A2. It's surprising that her story is easily missable as people may not touch the computer near Anemone.

Just finished watching, I figured I'd share on point of this vid's title on how it changed my life personally. I grew up with games - not MMORPGs / social games, but single player titles like RTS, Action Adventure... isolated experiences that seems to strike few conversations in home. I have always been engineer-brained my whole life - indulge in the technical solution-making process while leaving "higher emotions" to non-tech people. There was technology, computers, engineering - then there was everything else. Then I played this in my University 3rd year - a time where we started to wonder what are we gonna do with intern and after graduation. Its funny how Nier Automata asked me if games are silly little things, in one of the most defiant sections, and of course I clicked no, in contrary to what everyone else in my family felt. I didn't keep playing video games cause I had nothing better to do, I play because I truly enjoyed them! (while others found better things to do in life) There's a reason why I'm still a nut for video games as a young working adult - at first it was the "engineering wow how did they do that" aspect of it, then there was Nier Automata showing the narrative, humanistic, artistic values that can be achieved through video games, while paying tributes to so many genres all at once. Now that I stepped foot in career life (not in engineering or game industry as i hoped), there are challenges - expectations were dialed up to eleven, time is suddenly shorter than ever, the future is uncertain as before. This game allowed my engineering result-oriented brain some valuable room to smell the few roses I can, appreciate the few company I have, and be generally positive (i.e. have faith) in bleak times, while chasing arbitrary goals set by my surroundings. What's our purpose, where we end up, is often beyond our control. We regret nothing so long as we gave our best given the circumstance. Deeply appreciate your review for bringing back these fond memories, and glory to mankind.

I absolutely love hearing people gushing over this game in any form. So this video is appreciated by me! I think my feelings towards this game are echoed by so many but I feel like here is a good place for me to gush as well. I am similar in some ways to you with my current outlook on video games. I don't have much time to play as an adult with children so it has to be something very special to get me invested. There are many corners of the industry that have stagnated and given into this "cookie cutter" mentality, where nobody seems to want to push the boundaries. Sure, there are a couple of franchises that still have awesome games in them, Zelda and particularly Metroid are two of my other favourites. But they work extremely well within their own bubble. They have their own well established timelines and genres that they can run with for all of time. But there is something about the way that the Nier games connect with the player that just hits differently. I played Automata on a whim. I had seen stills and posters and I was drawn to the art style. I had no idea about the series previous entries in replicant/gestalt and by extension Drakengard (which I will probably never get to play!), so I had no idea what I was getting in for. In the beginning I felt like it was just going to be a standard hack and slash action game that I could mindlessly bumble through over the course of a few weeks in short bursts. And for the first couple.of days, that's kind of what I did. But I can pinpoint the exact second that I knew this game was going to get under my skin. It was the moment when you first get to the amusement park. There was something otherworldly and beautiful about the fireworks exploding against that neon sunset backdrop. This was honestly the first time in around 20 years if playing video games where I said "woooow" out loud. Then as I ventured further in and the music began to build into that epic crescendo of violins and vocal work. It really was something else. As I pushed on, I began to feel like the story was becoming more and more obscure. I struggled to get my head around things and struggled to keep up. I feel like that was a me problem. But I could feel that it was building up to something more. I knew that it would eventually tie itself together somehow. And I could tell that when it all came together, it was going to be something incredible. But nothing could prepare me for the complete rollercoaster of feelings I would go through during this experience. The bleakness, the hope, the pity I felt for the people trapped in this world. As 9S descended into madness, I could feel his blind rage. The parts where he totally loses it and laughs in the face of his own sadness and rage is something that I have experienced personally. It's a scary and uncontrollable feeling, yet I managed to find a connection to him through that. I understood his insanity in those moments. Then to top it all off by making us fight the creators of the world, with other players by our side, this game was a true masterpiece in interactive story telling. It is an experience I will never forget and sadly, will never be able to relive for the first time again. Sometimes I pick it up and start playing through for an hour two, just to spend some time with these characters, in this world. I love Nier Automata and I can say with confidence that this is one of the greatest pieces of art and greatest video games that has ever been made.

Honestly, the best way to experience this game's difficulty imo is to start out in Normal mode, and once you get to A2 and have the Overclock and Aggressive Heal chips cranck up the nod to Hard and just unleash B mode and lifesteal off everything that moves until you're the last one standing. B mode makes you take little damage even in Hard difficulty, and with Aggressive Heal you're basically unkillable for as long as you can attack something. The boss climbing the Tower I don't even bother to evade for instance Edit: there is actually a third option after the child's suicide for Pascal: just leave. Neither kill him nor delete his memories. Let him live with his errors. He will resent you, he says as you leave that he hates you, but you don't let him repeat this mistake again

I played a good portion of this game and knew just how special it was, but life got in the way of my completion. This was exactly what I needed and way much more. Not only is the rest of the beautiful story read like a book but in such a way that I forgot I was watching a video and instead got pulled into the world of the characters and their lives. This is more then a game. It's a message, a message told to only thoses that want to listen. Thank you. Without such an amazing project I maybe would have never known the end to a story I longed for. With the pods being the overseers of project yorha's conclusion, that instead of turning against the main characters and defeating/ deleting them actually started to care so much about them that they abandoned the project and saved them instead, are they the Replicant Devola and Popola of the Automata era?

And for me that sounded good, but it was the music in the amusement park that didn't vanish out of my head, even after days. Just to hear this part again I started the game. Played once. The way I handled Nier Automata's awful game balance was to use NO plug-in chips in the initial playthrough, then increase the difficulty by a step on the second playthrough and use the money you made in the first playthrough to buy defense chips to make sure you can take a couple of hits on the next step up. For me it was Hard to Very Hard, for others it might be different. With a ban on overpowered chips and no consumables because they totally break the game (which is why Very Hard is balanced around you getting one-shot by everything without defense chips), the combat balance is actually very good. Having to stack defense chips also limits your space on your other chips, so you have to be exceedingly selective and can't go too crazy.

Best way to earn easy "g" or in-game money for any new people who hasn't know about it, is get "machine core", for example, I have 3, when I sell all three, I get 30,000, my best option to get machine cores, you'd first have to complete all the missions to get chapter select, once you have the chapter select, you'd have to chose chapter 04, and it'll show you different parts of chapter 4 mad house, spoilers, you're at the carnival, the one you'll have to choose to start the farm, is chapter 04-02; tank boss, and to get machine cores, you're gonna have to kill the tank boss, and it'll give you 1 each time you do it, easy steps to follow, go to the chapter I mention, fight the boss, run back to your access point, quick save, hit the chapter select, rinse and repeat

Want to know my story with this game? I remember when I first saw images of it and thought, "I want to play this game.", but that was before learning it was PS4 exclusively. That made me infuriated as I owned an Xbox One at the time and one of my gaming pet peeves is third-party exclusives. This encouraged me to make a petition to get the game ported to Xbox. I even made links to it on other videos of Nier Automata hoping to help gain it attention, and I think there was even an Indian news article talking about my petition. It wasn't until the Become As Gods Edition in 2018 that the game finally got the Xbox port it deserves. It almost made me think that I had something to do with it. My only complaint is that there's no physical copy of this version.

This piece of entertainment media is an example of one created by an individual who really meant to leave an emotional impact on people who chose to embark on this endeavor, both through context sensitive mechanics, and general narrative, of which they go hand in hand so immaculately. It gives a proper outlook on the best and worst of someone who considers themselves human, as well as their inherent struggles during their lifespan, and it's done in a spectacular but also unapologetic way, something that's becoming a bit of a lost art. Nier Automata, and the other games created by Yoko Taro, may be overloaded with an exagerated amount of existential dread, but they also pave the way for a more hopeful future ahead through some positive change, and the things written thus far in this comment, is just the tip of the iceberg, as to why videogames are still a valid form of storytelling, and also a valid form of art, regardless of what any other contrarian has to say about it, but now, only one can think of what's the next step Yoko Taro is going to take with his creative ventures in the AAA space, of which we will definitely know sooner or later.

Did I play this game really weird? I played through quite a few hours into the game and never had the male android around and never had the option to have him around. I also got stuck and couldn't advance the game any further because it got too hard for me. Yes, yes, I know. It's hard being someone with game journalist skill levels.

15:37 wich is why i simply cannot research much about the game because 80 - 90% of content coming from the game is just 4Chan Rule 34 doing its thing. I ended up here as like THE video i could watch from a channel that i trust, just so i could actually know the game better than its title So, a quick edit in the middle of the video, Route A was the one i understood perfectly as a game, but Route B was the one that, guaranteed, will explode your brain if you haven't seen the game yet
