I actually love this game. While I agree about the pacing issue and only needing to use a couple of moves, I found the game to be so funny, stylistic, and just generally fun. I never got bored of the combat because everything else just sucked me in.

A sequel and remaster of the first would be the shit man I've dreamt of a sequel so much I even wrote up a rough draft of where Juliet would be if there were a sequel which was basically her in college still as a cheerleader and this time she has to fight all the zombie lords from the first game because some jackass decided to pull a Snow again but rather than summoning them he opened a portal to hell by accident instantly being killed by a flying demon so you'd have to fight zombies AND demons and after you've taken out the zombie lords around the town again she'd have to journey into hell to fight the devil close the portal and obviously live happily ever after with Nick who'd get his actual body back so he could be your partner along the ride rather than a little ride along.

Definitely the "sister game" (heh) to No More Heroes: it's pretty rough around the edges and is perhaps _too_ experimental for its own good, but it still has a solid foundation that it fully commits to -- and, I think the gaming industry is far better off having "experimental" games, ones that take risks, even if the end results are sub-par.

@@Gatorade69 Nah Xenia hasn't really had as much progress as RPCS3 besides I was able to play at 4k 60 on my laptop with a gtx1060 so unless you have a potato for a computer you should be just fine.

I automatically assumed that the PS3 must be harder to emulate thanks to the cell processors and that the Xbox would be the easier of them to emulate. I'm really not caught up with emulation as It's been a while so I don't know much. I just got OpenEmu set up on the new iMac and it runs alright, GameCube has some stutters. Luckily I also have a newer PC too with a 3070 in it that's brand new. Guess I'll look into rpcs3, sounds like it runs pretty good.

Some of the already expired licensed music is going to be sacrificed for the remake. Also I expect that they may tone down the edginess, and some dialogue (like the abortion quote). Fair enough, however the greatest issue could be that Suda51 is not involved with the development of the remake. Thus this remake need massive gameplay improvements to balance those changes.

The thing with the gameplay is.... it was an after thought by warner bros after they hired James Gunn, Suda51 wanted the game to be a horror game where you played as a person not common in horror wielding an uncommon weapon for the hero and thats where Suda's involvement ends he just made Juliet and everything else was either thought up by WB or james gunn

I found the best Bread 'n Butter combo to be the one that goes from a low sweep to a midair spin, I think it was AAYY, it absolutely melts enemies, consistently triggers sparkle hunting without any real additional setup, has built in crowd control with it's insane reach and it's actually pretty fast for a chainsaw attack combo which combined with it's crowd control means it generally doesn't get interrupted, it's pretty damned broken, which is why I love it.

Hey, I love you Gman, and I think you should check out his older works too. Even though No More Heroes made Grasshopper's works known for dark humor and cheesy atmosphere, he used to make stuff more akin to Kojima games or Deus Ex in terms of tone and storyline. He was also a lot more creative in terms of mechanics and game design, so you won't face the same issues you faced on Lolipop Chainsaw. Have you ever seen Killer7? It's is the best example of it, and I think you would like it since you're a FPS fan. One of the most interesting first person shooters ever and still one of the best examples of games as art. The game design is akin to Resident Evil games too, so it's really great to explore. If you like adventure games or visual novels, The Silver Case, Flower Sun and Rain and The 25th Ward are also awesome, but I'm mostly thinking on the games you actually liked and reviewed here when I recommend Killer7. I think you would LOVE it. Cheers.

Lollipop Chainsaw like Shadows of the Damned, Killer Is Dead, Let it Die or other Suda41 games maybe lack in the gameplay/mechanics/innovation department, but dude do they catch up with the ideas and concepts. Unique 100%

Shadows of the Damned was a great and overlooked game from Suda. I wanna say it came out around the same time as lollipop chainsaw as well.

James Gunn worked for and wrote some of the best films at Troma. The fact that he infiltrated holiday by penning a fucking Scooby Doo movie is hilarious. People don't seem to know where his roots lie.

This game feels like a Troma Film so it’s not that surprising Jame Gunn had a hand in it. Will say this game is like 70% novelty and 30% game. Like so much of what makes this game fun, or a favorite for someone has been the setting, characters, and all around zaniness the game has which isn’t really a bad thing. For all it’s shortcoming it wanted to be be “lollipop chainsaw” which is more or less achieved.

I don't know man, I appreciate this game for how wacky over the top fun it is, we need more games like it in my opinion. It's just so out there, that and it's short length really make up for its overall quality in my opinion
